I can understand having 5-6 pairs of shoes, but I could never imagine more than that. Shit kicker boots, 1 or 2 dress shoes, casual leathers, 2-3 athletics, not much else. How can athletics shoes be $2000, and why would you pay that much unless you've got too much money (no offense THockey) but some high school kid shouldn't have more invested in their wardrobe than their education.

If i see a pair of shoes that i like, i buy them. Simple as that. Shoes are one of my cheaper interests anyway.

I didnt spend anywhere close to $2000 for the Pigeons nor would i ever think of doing so. Thats the going rate on a shoe with such a story.

Flight Club is a consignment store. You bring in the shoes, and they do everything else. When they sell, you get a call to pick up the money.

My education is paid for due to the wonderful things known as scholarships so that helps my bank account quite a bit. I'm also very thankful to have a job to support my lifestyle.

I surprised myself by actually counting, thought I'd have fewer.

Came up with 5 pairs of shoes: the afforeposted shit kickers, very nice "dress shoes", my hiking boots and a pair of one stars and a pair of all stars. Add in to that one pair of reefs flip flops that I wear pretty much the entirety of the warm season and that makes 5 and a half, I suppose.

Oh, I forgot the point: I consider myself a very conservative consumer and am kind of wondering what the average person has laying around the house in terms of footwear.

Edit: forgot something...

Oh I get you, Thockey, if I had any scholarships and bit more to toss around in my bank account I'd have all sorts of fun stuff.

What I don't get are these high school kids that have to have the exclusive custom gloves, top end sticks, top end skates with every little tweak you can think of. Nothing that helps their game, just things to spend money on.

If I had kids right now, no way would they have $500 skates and $150 sticks that they go through every other game. Maybe special gifts or if their game is actually up there, but spending thousands just so little Johnny can feel better amongst his peers means there are more things wrong than that. Maybe if I had a million dollars, but even then.

Bobovski- Exactly.

The 4 pairs I have at college with me. Kickers, court shoes (rackquetball, tennis, etc), daily wear, flip flop.

These shoes with sort of screwy colors look surprisingly good with jeans believe it or not. Those puma rs100s are great shoes though. They are built strong are real leather outside and are lined with leather. How often does one say that about sneakers anymore? If I want a shoe to train in, I buy Asics Nimbus or Adistar Cushions.

Most kids on this board, myself included, work and pay for most of our own hockey equipment, clothing, etc. My last year of high school is paid for and I have funds for university saved; I'd rather spend my spare money on gear/shoes instead of drugs/alcohol like most of my buddies.

honestly, why cant you have the best you can afford?

If that's what people want to spend their money on, I'm fine with it, personally. I am worried, however, about a lot of people I see going in to debt to afford these kinds of things. It's just not worth it.

I worked for a few days to help my mom in Warren. Some of the ladies that worked there had brand name shoes and purses, nails and hair done at a salon... and had creditors looking for them.

If you've got the money and it's what you want go for it. I just don't know what you're gonna do with so many shoes.

I wouldn't go so far as to say most of the kids on the board pay for their own high end stuff. I guess I was busy being a kid at that point and never had much money though.

Its called individual indifference curves and utility maximization, but every time we have an econ debate on here someone usually goes apeshit so lets pretend I didn't mention that. :)
