damn, 8 concussions. are you sure you play hockey? maybe it's boxing and you don't know it. haha. seriously though you should consider leaving the game aftet that many, you sustain permanant neuroligical damage. ask Pat LaFontaine about that.

If you were wearing your mouth guard, i'm willing to bet you never would have gotten that last concussion.

You should check out the Itech TH2906 helmet, the thing is an absolute beast and looks like a helmet that a fighter pilot would wear. It's on page 8 of the Itech catalogue here on MSH... http://www.modsquadhockey.com/index.php?showtopic=7208

Most people find that the 5000/ 8000 to be most protective and comfortable.

I find that a shockdoctor mouthgaurd is better than custom-made ones. The shockdoctor is fairly cheap and if it gets really gross, then you can throw it away, rather than buying an expensive doctor-made one.

No offense kid, but with a weak noodle you are a longshot to go anywhere. 8 Concussions, the higher up you go the more physical you will be.

I saw the Hefter helmets at the show, they look very nice and protective. Also, Sherwoods new helmet looked like it was made of carbon. Bottom line, all helmets are certified for protection, even the cheap ones. I concur, wearing a good mouthguard (properly) is the best prevention. Shock Doctors are good, but I prefer the Xcelerate. Invented by dentists, company owned by dentists. Was the Sport product of the year, last year.

The guy who designed the Hefter helmet is originally from this area. I'm interested in seeing them.

Where's Paul on a topic like this? We need him to go into his theory about the high and low density foam and how effective they really are.

Helemts should be replaced every three years at a minimum. It's also not a bad idea if you have taken a hard shot to the head that resulted in a concussion.

.....i had a lil dent in my forehead.......

That usually isnt too good.

p.s.- i totaly admire your desire to continue playing, but with 5 concussions you might want to be more careful and keep your head up.

I also recently suffered from a concussion while playing hockey. I was disheartened to replace HC100 which fit perfectly on my head, but I bought Bauer 8000 which does a better job in the protection side. Mission Carbsters are also potential good ones you could look for although I've never used them. But with Carbsters, getting your hands on them might be a little harder since they're not as readily available on stock at all.

There are still carbsters around to be had. Hockey Giant was selling them on the cheap not that long ago. However, the thing that always shied me away from them was that since they are not adjustable, they either fit - or don't. Since I didn't have any around my LHS, I decided not to chance it.

However, those that have them, seem to love them......
