I live in Kalamazoo and ive been hearing that they brought them in just to get attendince in Motor City, theu have only been drawing like 1500 peopple a game. Also heard they were only playing home games.

I heard the same, only playing home games and close road games. Therfore nobody who was on the roster previously will lose their spot due to these three signing, suposidly.

I heard a rumor that your team, Port Huron, might move as well. Roanoke VA, my hometown, is supposedly the place the league is going to relocate them. I work for a news station down here and we called the team to try a confirm anything but they said they were doing fine (of course). It makes since not to announce stuff like that untill after the season so you don't hurt ticket sales, but I'm sure someone may have leaked a nugget.

Any truth to that rumor? I'm trying to give my reporters something else to go on.

There has been some talk of that happing, I hate to say it but I think it will come true. Its a shame that people in Port Huron don't support thier local hockey team.

these guys are now taking jobs and cash off the table for the guys who are making 500-700 a week to play the game...what a joke...

if Avery is playing ft as he says..that's at least one spot lost ...nevermind that people are losing $ with the addition of the NHL'ers..what is it 5 now?? a salary cap of 10k a week and adding 25% to the squad..unless they are playing for $1 a week or something...its a joke...

i caught the tail end of an interview yesterday with smolinski... i think he was saying that he is donating his salary to a charity, so this is a no lose situation he said. ok, so you don't need the money and you're gonna donate it, thats nice and all, but how bout the guy that depends on his 500 a week to make some form of a living, and pay his house payment... what about that guys whos spot you just took.

It will come to it soon enough, where a buddy on another team of one of the guys' who lost their job...will just run and injure an NHL'er playing in the U...then you will see these guys leave en masse...out of the leagues like the E, C and U...

From all I've read none of the guys on the Motor City team will lose their job over this in terms of a paycheck. In other words none of the guys will lose their spot on the roster over the signing of these five. They'll obviously lose playing time though which I still think is BS. This is a development league, not a place for out of work NHLer's. The only good about any of this is the donating of their UHL paycheck to charity. I forget which charity but I know the first three were doing so, apparently Smolinski as well.

I think this is for attendance reasons, nothing to do with making the team better. Hence the only playing home games.

Ya I heard it was for attendence reasons but they are still only drawing 2000 people a night. What is sad is that Tyler Willis, a Kalamazoo player and the smallest on the team layed out Hatcher last weekend. Kalamazoo also scored on Hatcher and Cheli on a 2-2, this should be no competition for those 2 on D. Hatcher, Cheli, Smolinski and Avery were all a -1 tonight.

As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, Barrett Jackman and Ryan Johnson are playing for the Missouri River Otters of the UHL. A few nights ago, Jackman was interviewed and said, "We're here to win and plan on traveling with the team and play every game if the NHL season is cancelled. This is not just some publicity stunt."

Wow, nice little potshot at Chelios, Maltby, and the boys, eh?
