custom graf 707's, all black, no writing except the graf logo. black tuuk's. 7 regular boot, 9 wide toe cap, arch removed, extra padding in the heel, and extra material on the outside (where graf's tend to wear down)

I hope you guys are good enough to carry skates like that, because if you have the "flash" but no "dash" you should put an 'L' on your jersey for "looser."

If you've got gear like that, but suck, old guys like me are laughing at you and playing you extra hard with our off-the-shelf gear.

You know, it's the same as watching some rich guy stall his Ferrari.

Learn how to spell loser before you start slinging stones..

Spend your money on whatever you like. Me, I've got a busted ass pair of Vapor X's, nothing special.

So should we all have to pass a combine or go through an obstacle course to see if we are qualified enough to purchase nice gear?

And if a guy sucks, then why would you have to play him "extra hard"?

Young guys like me are laughing at old timers picking on weaker players.

Exactly.

If you've got a diffrent holder on your skates, is it so bad to like the pitch or feel of a different holder so you switch them to make the skate feel better to you? If you've got extra padding in the boot is it so bad to want a certain part of your foot to have more protection? If you've got a different toe cap, is it so bad to want to be able to wiggle your toes? If you've got a skinnier heel or smaller arch, is it so bad to want the skate to fit your foot perfectly instead of just okay? Is it so bad to mount a roller chassis on an ice hockey boot, if the boot fits the player and thats what they want to use? The only place IMO where your claim makes sense is if people have special colors and such on there skates, but not many companies do that. I havent seen custom colored XX's, or Eastons, maybe Mission and definetly Graf, but if your already dropping the coin to get the special fit and such, you might as well get a design or color scheme you like. I'm sorry but if I see someone with flashy equipment I'm not going to head hunt them during the game, but you have fun harrassing the weaker players in your beer league

Okay, I started the mud slinging, so I'm prepared to take it.

In my defense:

Good point on my misspelling of loser fire-ice man. My bad. If anything, custom fitted skates should not be loose!

On my loser comment, my point is custom skates are fine if you need or can afford them. Custom sized is one thing. Custom design is another. My beef is those who think flashy pimped out equipment makes up for lack of skill or conditioning.

Learn the game, get good at it, and get in shape. Then if you are good enough to be cocky, fine. I still don't have to like it but as I said earlier, if you go with flashy gear, you better have the skills to back it up.

On the other hand, if you suck, don't get pink tape, mirrored visors, loud jerseys, neon green holders, $200 sticks and the like. If you want that flashy crap, go play roller. If you suck, a $200 stick isn't going to help. Use that time, energy, and money to get ice time and practice.

And while I'm on my modest rant, get real hockey numbers! Defense wears low single digits. Forwards wear up to 29. Goalies get #1 and anything in the 30's. (If you're Gretzky or Mario you're exempt, per my rationale above.)

Damn kids nowadays!

(By the way, I'm having fun with this rant, take it as sincere comments, but not too seriously!! B) )

I have to get custom skates because I am experiencing too much pain in my feet. Getting custom Missions and custom orthotics made through a friend of mine in the ski industry.

well, im all for the custom skates and everything, even though some players use pink tape for their sticks, and laces for their skates. its a chance they take all those players want is attention and sometimes they get it by people looking at it and sometimes its because of a hit theyve just taken, its hockey let them be a target if they want.( dont include people who need custom skates in this post )
