Do-It-Yourself "Vybe" Blade

Recommended Posts

Why the hell would you want to put rubber on your blade? I can't imagine that helping your snap-shot.

He was going for like what the alpha nemesis had, it really dampened the rebound of the composite material and made the blades feel much better.

Am I the only person who doesn't have a problem with stick vibration?

so far, i've used an 1100 and a alpha nemesis, so i don't know if i count or not, but i have no problem with the vibration at all, except i've used other sticks from friends and i didn't like the vibration... so i guess it depends on what type of vibration, good or bad ;)

It definately helps with the vibration but the real bonus of the Vybe insert is its ability to receive very hard passes. It seems like it just sucks the puck onto the blade after receiving a bullet of a pass. I was surprised at how well it actually works.

i use r2 xn10 with sicore synthesis got no problem with vibration..i used ultra graphite...v20...Franklin 9007 air core(maybe my best feel blade ever)...hespeler F4...response blade(had small vibration issue) beside this i never had vibration problem!

But i might give it a try and try it on my ultra graphite and see how does it work...i dont have problem with vibration but maybe it still can give a ''extra'' feel dampening(like my synthesis sicore)

I bought a really cheap 1 1/2" brush from a hardware store and applied about 5 light coats of the plasti-dip. Let it dry to a tacky feel between coats, then let it cure well before using. I pitched the brush after using it because I didn't want the hassle of cleaning up a gummed-up brush. The feel of the grip was pretty good.

Since then I've just gone with the simpler 'backside of a roll of tape' grip solution. It isn't as pretty but a lot quicker.

I only think i see wrong with that is that you applied it to a very little portion of the blade, and its area is much lower than the vybe insert on the alpha nemesis blade, if you took a saucer pass or one of those knuckle ball passes that hit above the rubber coat, wouldn't it feel all weird?

I think he said he applied more higher up after he tested it.

Hip check, with the brush did you get a smooth coat and how thick is the stuff?

Well... relatively smooth - depends on how carefully you apply it, I guess. It would barely be noticable in its thickness. Barely alters shaft dimensions.

Plasti-Dip also works well on on skates - A few thin layers of that stuff on the toes of your skates and you'll never have a problem with them getting shredded...

I used to have an SL (broke in the blade) and the paint came off really easy as you all know they do. I was just wondering if they come in clear would that help the paint stay on?

When you said the TPS rubber grip did you mean the real rubbery stuff on the "rubber" shaft or the TPS Rubber response (the two feel different to me)
