What's in A Bag?

Recommended Posts

I have the Itech Pro Team bag too. I love it... huge, plain, tough bag. I like the inside pockets, one for tape, one for laces and stone, one for shower stuff. Like someone else said, I also picked up some mesh laundry bags, which I use to switch my stuff back and forth between my 3 teams (socks, jersey, jock, tshirt, towel). The only features I'd rather have in a bag are canvas and a metal zipper...

I have an old Itech bag I used for my ref gear but has been pressed into service for my player gear. It's a tight fit but it works. We're down to our last couple of bags in the shop and I don't want to take one I could sell for a profit. I hope the new stuff starts showing up.

Canvas and metal zipper= longevity

I think the best bags are the Laurin Pro Hockey Bags. You can order virtually any color and you can get custom team bags. They are pretty big and have the essential skate and side pockets. They hold up really well and they are all around really good bags.

I would recommend a Vapor 10 bg, if you can find one. I got one for a good price on eBay last year, but I would imagine they are starting to get hard to find now. Here's basically the same bag, except with outside skate pockets and bigger end pockets: http://www.hockeymonkey.com/bauvap8eb.html You're nt going to find a much better bag than a Vapor 8/10.

Best. Bag. Ever.

The M-1 Wheel or the Mission Team bag is also a very nice bag, and a good price.

If you can find the Vapor 10 or the THG version (external skate pockets) jump on it.

I bought that vapor 8 bag, but the description is wrong. They just pirated the description from the Vapor 10 bag. I was disapointed it didn't have all those pockets, also no vent, but its still an ok bag.

I have a Team Canada wheeled bag from Costco. Cost me $30CAD or something.

2 vented skate pockets outside... two big pockets on either end... huge interior, top opening, reinforced straps, rollerblade wheels.

What more could I ask for? :P

Damn, it doesn't? That sucks.

Wow it looks as if I might have picked a stinker of a bag. I knew I should have posted a request for opinions before I bought. The big question is do I want to keep it and see if it follows though like everyone elses and fails some how or do I want to immediately try to return it and look for something a little more dependable? I'll probably keep it.

I'm kinda surprised at all the responses who'd have thought bags would stir people up so?

Thanks for all the responses so far.

The Vapor 10 is an awesome bag. The only complaint I have is that I have to dig into my bag outside the shop at the rink when I need to sharpen my skates since the skate pockets are on the inside. Still, I would buy this bag again in a second.

my ccm bag has been perfect with no zipper problems for 4 seasons,,,

A teammate just bought the new HockeyMonkey 1152 bag, and I must say I like it and he's happy with no problems so far...

I want a new bag as its been a while and will be looking at the New reebok 40 or 42" one real hard..

My needs are external skate pockets... and minimum 2 other pockets somewhere..

Internal skate pockets are no good IMO

I just got a SherWood PMP 9950 and it works good although no vents. Has external skate pockets and two large end pockets. Had the PMP 7000 which also worked good before (had vents) but that one didn't have a shoulder strap which was freakin' irritating (especially if you had to walk any distance).

I like bags that won't fall apart like my Graf one did. I tired to sew it tigether with a mending kit and its holding better than it originally did.

My CCM 652 wheeled bag is very unbalanced. The skate pockets are on one side and when i have both skates in the pockets, i cant keep the bag on both wheels. Any bag with skate pockets at the end or on each side of the bag would be perfect for me.

I also like the Vapor 8/10 bag, VERY nice, big bag. I also like the easton ones, they have good pockets and vents.

i have two bags. 1. is a heavy ass nylon bag, all black with two interior skate pockets, its roomy and tough 2. is the best bag in the world. its just a huge black bag with my old team logo on it. its made out of this fake leather stuff, kind of like vinyl i guess, but it wont cut, rip, or retain moisture, beauty team deal too

how do you manage with all those pockets miserable? do you actually organize everything into it's own respective pocket? i usually just toss everything into my bag and hope it fits well

I have had a Nike Ignite 1 bag for 5 years now and it has held up very well. The only real damage to it is that my skate blades cut the mesh skate pocket. The zippers have held up very well considering that I probly should have a bigger bag. (all my stuff is XL or XX in size) So I have just crammed it in there and the zippers have been stellar.

It was $90 CDN at the time.

I'm rough/careless with my bags so I look for durability first, then capacity. I've been using the TPS team bag for the past 8-9 months and it has held up so far. My bags in the past haven't lasted over a year without ripping or zippers breaking. I like the team bag's size because I can throw my equipment in randomly and knowing it'll always close easily. If the Itech bag was available at the time, I would have bought that one instead because of the extra compartments and is also a big bag. The TPS bag only has the two side pockets which I presume are for skates, but I throw all the little things in there instead.

I dont know why, but a nice canvas bag is perfect for me... I don’t care about pockets or any of that.... I have always been partial to a very plain canvas bag.
