Good off-brand OPS

Recommended Posts

We all talk about the Easton, Bauers, Tps, Inno, etc, and rightfully so..

I use a vapor xxx right now and have been happy.

but what are some nice OPS that may be considered "off brands" or just not mainstream like the above mentioned.

I heard the Tour Beemer is decent, I like the Trilage... any others worth mentioning? I know there are plenty, lets hear what you think...some guys dont want to spend the $$$ on the"popular brands"...

yeah, i want to try a "off-brand" OPS.. maybe a ballistik pro-light/Ferland Thunder Grip or a Ferland Revo SR.

maybe someone has tested one of these sticks

hespeler, its rumoured to be made by innovative so the workmanship is there.

may not perform like the top brands, but pretty good for the money

i have used several of their products, patriot, nemesis, 9010,9009, kicklite

all good.

i think their patriot was better than their nemesis and the 9010 was a great shaft neither is available any more.

Rebellion has one out. You could check them out as well.

However, one to consider is Gear. Hockey Giant sells a bunch of them on the cheap (about $70 I think?).

Another is Perani's who sells "famous brand name sticks" that are cosm. blemishes or something they buy in bulk and paint grey.

I don't mind the Harrow OPS. The Rebellions seem heavy and unbalanced to me. I've heard they have a new stick (may be another no name stick) called "the Wave" which is supposed to be decent. I'm hoping to see it fairly soon. The Balistik OPS don't do much for me, but they could be worse.

I have heard a lot of good stuff about the Tour Beemer, but it has a polyurethane coating on the blade that you have to sand off to get tape to stick, unless you use Tacki-mac.

I like the Beemer, and have had no problem keeping tape on the blade. Just plain old 1inch white tape that any hockey shop has

The Gear ones are terrible. They had absolutely no feel whatsoever, my shots sucked with them, and I could bend the blade with my bare hands. I was one of the people who tested the initial batch for H.G., so maybe they fixed the problem with later models, but as it stands I wouldn't spend $70 on them.

Regular black tape sticks to my Inferno just fine. I think the grip finish on the blade is a bonus. The Tour Beemer is an absolute tank. I've hacked and been hacked and the stick doesn't show a mark. It is a very stiff stick though.

Fury has good puck feel but doesn't add any extra zip to your shot, durability is ok. Made in the same factory as Rebellion sticks.

Powertek is good for a cheap stick and only one broken stick out of the 25+ we have sold.

Christian were a little blade heavy last year but the feel was incredible. Very durable as well.

While we're talking off brand ops, does anyone know where I can find the Franklin OPS from last yr/yr before, or even IF I can find them?

Hell, original silver synergys are more or less off-brand priced now. Might try to get a deal on some of them.

They would make a nice tapered shaft. Aweful feeling blade and not very durable.

2 guys on my team have furys. They are a nice stick with a good nice grip. Thin blade also.

The grip is way too much for me. I actually have blisters from using it.

JR told me the No Name Brand sticks were Hespeler Patriots.

They vary. Some are Innos from what I understand (guy at Perani's told me this and held on up to another Inno and it was exact curve and shaft dimensions).

Fox40 (the whistle company) has a Don Cherry-branded OPS, seems like a good, relatively-inexpensive stick. A few guys I've talked to have tried them and liked them, good feel, decent durability...

Perani's sells OPS under the WinnWell brand. Tapered blades as well.
