I don't want to hijack the SPARX thread, but BFD is less than precise compared to FBV. BFD is a scale where a particular dressing can feel within a range (for example, bite can feel like anything from a 1/2" to 5/8") and FBV has multiple spinners equivalent to specific hollows (for example 100/50 = 1/2"). If the SPARX fire ring is closer to actual ROH, then I'd say it's a better system than BFD IMO.

Stick and Puck Report: After seeing Troy Brower, Tommy Wingels, a Senator, a Wild, and a few others wearing pro logo'd breezers with club sweaters playing 3-on-3 half ice with Ben Bishop in goal, the shit show began at Stick and Puck! I was deplorable today. I wasn't warmed up by pro, this time! Of course everybody had to show off their crappy deke moves to the point that I wanted to scream. Could not track the puck. Tried my Mage; FACKIN HATE IT!!!! It just moves down too much (as it is chin heavy) and oddly enough limits movement with my CA. Maybe I would like a real masque better, or maybe I need to invent a new style of head protection. It sounds like this new job could be more than just a pipe dream; wish me luck and throw your good thoughts and/or prayers my way. Thanks in advance.

My 8 year old step daughter told me this week she wants to join the Youth Learn to Play program at my rink, SUPER excited! She already loves skating and we have a blast going together, but I'm really hopeful that she'll take a liking to the sport as well! My wife and I have another on the way, due in January and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to teaching he/she how to skate as well.

I'm putting this here because it was funny. At practice last night I finally got to talk to this guy who is SUPER good, just glides across the ice and looks effortless. I was like I gotta pick this dude's brain and maybe learn a thing or two from him. I ask him how long he's been playing, normal chit chat stuff, and then he says, "Oh by the way, my name is Steve, but for some reason [our coach] keeps calling me Pat. I haven't said anything to him yet, though." I totally thought this dude's name was Pat and apparently I'm not the only one who thought so.

Back to back champs!! We had a strong start, 8-1 to start the season. Then a weak second half, going 3-8 with two of those wins in a shootout. Won the last game of the season, beat our bitter rivals in the semis, and won 4-3 in the finals. Sadly, I was not on the ice for most of the last half or either playoff game. I still made sure to get to every game though. After the game was over and the championship was won, there was the usual celebration, then the handshake line, and then immediately a couple guys came to help me out onto the ice for the trophy raising and team photo. That meant a ton to me that that was their first thought. Next week starts the road to the three-peat. Sadly, I'm still off the ice for about another month at the least, and until the end of the calendar year at the most. Hopefully closer to the former ;) Today feels weird without this beard....
