Cool so we get to hear the story just one more time.

I don't get many photos of myself since I'm usually the one taking them (I'm a league photographer and shoot photos between shifts in games I'm playing in), but every now and then a teammate grabs my camera and manages to catch me (I've slowly been trying to train a few guys haha).

Been out of the loop here again (just too damn busy). But when you get pics of your mite dropping bombs from the point, you gotta share he finally moves up to 8u this spring, and so ready for it https://imgur.com/gallery/KlEzPdH

Yes, comfort and fit is key. Based on your comments on the VH skates, I would go with True and just ask them to use the measurements they should already have on file since your current VH skates fit so well.

I had similar fitment issues as you did with the vapor lineup (tried on APX2 D width, no E or EE available) and the forefoot was way to narrow which reinforced my decision of sticking with the Supreme lineup since it fit well enough. I didn't like the changes from the One95 to the One.9 since it didn't wrap as well and the tongue was way too thick for my liking. As a replacement for the Makos, I was initially I was thinking of moving into the SuperTacks (1pc boot like the Makos, similar fit to Supremes) but the shop I went to suggested the FT1s being a closer fit to the Makos so I gave that a shot. Going from Makos to FT1's, the pitch is less aggressive and would probably match your current setup. Personally, I liked the forward pitch of the Makos and never had an issue skating on them even though I came from a more neutral pitch that the Supremes had. Once the FT2's release and if they have the same 90 day guarantee or if the shop has a demo program, I suggest giving that a shot and see how it goes. Definitely helped when coming to a decision for a future skate that could replace my Mako IIs.

I don’t feel I can make a fair comparison in terms of performance given my 2 issues, the taller SB holders compared to my shorter LS2 (non-edge) holders on my VH and other confounding variables. IMHO, proper snug and comfortable fit and optimized steel profiling is where the performance gains come rather than comparing the different top end skates from the different manufacturers. Of course, the skater as well 😉 i will say that VH were the most comfortable skates by far and not having a toe box/quarter package junction is a big part of that for me. I really liked how ccm placed liner across that junction. However, you can still feel a ridge there (plastic clips underneath??) and may have contributed to my toe pain.

If both your feet are the same size (8EE/B) and your only issues are that the depth is even with your feet at the 5th eyelet and the toe box on FT1's, I'm not sure you need customs. Usually the depth is only an issue if your feet are over the eyelets and there are deeper skates than Jetspeeds. It does seem like the Jetspeed toe boxes aren't right for you, but other retail toe boxes may work. I'd probably just try on a bunch of different skates around the 8EE and 8D size (while you're EE in Jetspeed, a D might work in other naturally wider models) and see if anything feels great out of the box without having to go the custom route. With that said, if you have the extra cash and just want to go the custom route then I'd probably lean toward going the VH/True route if you're happy with the fit of those skates. You could just have them make a new pair based on the measurements of your old pair. Out of curiousity, when you did the CCM 3D scan was Jetspeed the recommended line for your feet?

True Skate Plus: Overall fit. Comfort. Allows for proper skating posture. Top quality materials. Excellent for those with foot issues needing more than a molded off the shelf skate. Ability to swap tongues at any time. Step/VH holder is reliable and the steel is top notch. Minus: Lack of steel selection for Step/VH holder. Cannot order without Step/VH holder. Heavier than other brands. Most players swap out the Step/VH holder for Tuuk holders to allow them to use various brands of steel (Byonic, Massive, Flare, Step, Tydan, Bauer, etc) Summary: This is a pro level skate. True does not make multiple tiers of skates, they make one model only. This skate is designed for the player on the ice 20+ hours a week, the big guy/gal, or a very powerful skater. There is an adjustment period when moving to the True skate, for some its longer than others, but generally its at least 10-20 hours for your biomechanics to "reset." These are not the lightest skate on the market and are heavier than Bauer and CCM, but as one person said to me "If you are bitchin about 40 grams of weight in a pro level skate vs general retail models, you should instead go to the gym or not wear those skates cause you're a sissy." CCM AS1/FT1 Custom (NOT FULL CUSTOM) Plus: A skate designed for all-out performance. Lightweight. Ability to request different sizes. Minor alterations to the skate such as tongue and added padding are available. Best looking skates IMO. One-piece boot frame allows for a great fit. These skates are all about performance without any of the "fluff" Minus: SB holder is terrible IMO. Takes too long to swap steel and I have seen too many players lose screws/nuts on the bench when trying to swap steel in a game. Not as durable as other skates. Having a minimalist design is great for short term but the boots tend to start to look pretty terrible after only a season of hard skating. Summary: All performance without the extras. Less padding than other brands. Extremely light compared to most other skates. Some people feel the boot is too high cut on the ankle and can be restrictive. Swap out the SB holder and you have a beast of a skate! Durability is not the best, just look around at used FT1 and Super tacks and you will see many of them look pretty torn up after only a year of use at high-level hockey. Bauer Custom (NOT FULL CUSTOM) Plus: Light skate. Ability to request different sizes and minor alterations to the skate such as tongue and added padding are available. Iconic design, it looks like a hockey skate. Not much has changed with their technology or design in many years, which many players prefer. Minus: The two-piece boot is perceived by some as a negative compared to the one-piece boots from CCM and True. Tuuk holders are known for having many issues, but they are still the preferred holder of almost every major hockey team and equipment manager. Summary: I consider it the workhorse of skates, more durable than CCM but less durable than True. The Swiss Army Knife of hockey skates that does everything well, but doesn't do any specific thing better than anyone else.

Understood! He's apparently got a pattern of making extremely questionable to outright dangerous "treatment decisions" and has been repeatedly remediated for it. Eight (8) different people at last count have advised me about working with him, including our supervisor. As a new medic, it's a little traumatic to be looking to a - well, a terrible medic - for support and advice. Mainly I lean on my supervisor and other good medics (two of the most brilliant I've ever met work out of the same base and I catch them when I start my shift) but it's stressful to be watching both my decisions and his all at once when I have so little experience. 😥

My partner made a major medication error last night, fortunately one that was caught before it was, you know, fatal, but the nurse was categorically unhappy and I'm over here like please do not associate me with this madman. Later, on a different call, my partner had the gall to give me shit for giving the correct medication in the correct situation because he thought she didn't need it. (a breathing treatment for a patient having trouble breathing.) This was all between 12am and 4am, so really not my night. >:|
