I ditched the velcro a while ago in favor of the old school garter belt, it just works better for me. A couple of months ago I decided I liked how my old 9K girdle had the built in velcro tabs for the old RBK socks and decided to make my own garter belt version by attaching the garter clips to some old velcro that I then stuck to the front velcro on my Super Tacks girdle (I have my thigh pads up just above the middle of the adjustment area so had some room below), I then sewed the clips to the back of the girdle, so it's all connected now and works like a charm. My 6th grade home-ec sewing skills keep coming in handy 😆

If the guy is fitting you for custom skates and telling you to keep your leg straight, I’d cancel the order and go somewhere that has an idea of what they are doing. That’s not a deep dive super technical aspect of measuring customs, that’s like super basic hockey skate fit 101. If they’re telling you to stand straight legged, what else are they doing wrong?

The jury is out, but the different tongues do make a difference. The TF9 thin tongue gave me more volume and the sense of a bit more width, which lead to the boot feeling a little sloppy compared to my TF7 in the forefoot. I've been skating the TF7 a few times a week for over a month and have found them very comfortable. Part of that is likely due to the thick felt tongue. Need to try the TF9 a few more times as set up and very likely try them with the felt tongue as well.

It's very good. If CPR gets an A+, HM gets an A. With regard to basic palms and gussets (which are not exactly basic and are quite challenging), pretty close to CPR quality. (I did have a pair of gloves come back from him a while back that were not perfectly done. Palms were sewn in slightly skewed and it created a bit of a pull towards the outside. I didn't complain as I was otherwise happy with his work and I've gotten customs that have had the same issue from factory, so I just assume it is the nature of handmade products. So far there not an issue). HM cannot do the cuff mods, adjustment of palm sizing (wide, narrow, changing fit, etc), repairs, pinky stripe, embroidery etc that Pat can do. The only thing he will do is cut down an existing cuff, which I've had him do and his work is functional but not exactly clean. His gusset material options are more or less the same, and he's fine adjusting or modifying gussets. His palm material options are pretty good, although he told me that he's planning to stop carrying pearl mustang, which is what I use most of the time (got the cream deer just cuz it matched the existing gussets well and I wanted to try it). I basically keep my gloves in two categories- 1- are gloves that need to wait for Pat, either because I want mods that only Pat can do, or because they're rare enough that I only trust Pat with them. (Looks like gloves that need pearl palms are going to be in this category now too, which is about 10 pairs and counting lol). 2- are gloves that have already been modded by Pat or are fine the way they are, and just need a repalm. Those go to Hockey Menders.

I would only make something if there was enough demand to justify such. In this case, 90%+ players find velcro to be just fine. 8% will use a separate garter belt + cup combo. 2% will ask for things that are unique. 😉

You own a hockey store and seem like you are mechanically inclined and enjoy experimenting with new ideas and tinkering with stuff. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Quad profiles are only on Bauer's current 3S (size 4 and bigger), 3S Pro, and Ultrasonic retail skates. And yes 212 and 221 runners on the 3S Pro have a Quad 3XS profile on them. Replacement steel has a 10' profile.
