Used them since I was a wee lad, when the only option for waxed laces was yellow.

I don't doubt that a good experienced operator can offer a great sharpening, but some of us just don't have that guy locally available. Having personally experienced the inconsistency of many "average" operators out there, I'd rather get a good-to-great sharpening that's exactly the same every single time versus gambling on the guy at the rink. Only time will tell in the long run, but I think these guys (Sparx) have done an exceptional job here. If you haven't given it a try, find one to test out and see what you think.

How long did it take him to Master The Art of sharpening? Pretty sure I am still learning after 30 years at it?

Yesterday was a SHIT SHOW. I played the WORST I have played in a long time. Horrible defense. The dark team felt sorry for me and asked if I wanted to switch ends and I took them up on it. But the damage was done- I played like shit the entire session. I registered my first hit as a goalie on a break away, but I ended up on the worse side of it, as I was trying for a poke check and his head was down. We collided, AND he scored, anyway. Frustrating, frustrating day, and I let it get inside my head. Of course it was just two goalies AND I was skating in new skates. I was in hell.

the Fall/Winter season starts tonight (ugh our game starts at 10:30) This is the first Fall/Winter season for me with the team I played spring and summer with. (replied to an ad on a bulletin board for the local newspaper's website. This November will mark the one year anniversary of buying all new gear and getting back on the ice. The back story: played in middle school, into early high school. Broke my femur as a sophomore in 1986, and didn't really play again until last year. (had a short 2 game season in '93 then was ban from that rink after hanging out with the wrong crowd) and here was my first post here that got like NO feedback: Geez look at me down there, what a johnny tryhard i sound like @DarkStar50 did point me in the right direction and @michaelRich heard me talking at work about playing more, and got me out to an open hockey session i would have never known about thanks to the MSH gang for all the help and support over this last year.

Will a pending bank holiday and slightly cooler weather net a better turnout at my late Sunday afternoon skate? I hope so. But I really, really like this group. It's mostly ex-Junior, ex-college and maybe a few ex-pros. I have improved IMMENSELY with these guys. Noobies are actually treated well here. I just hope the ones staying away and eventually coming out to this skate will be the same quality of players both with skill AND character. With my insane work schedule, I have not gotten to skate in my new skates. Hopefully, four goalies show up so that these skates won't hurt too badly and I can sit for ten minutes. New, new skates plain SUCK!!!!
