Percentage-wise, what’s another $400 on top of a new house? Count it as part of the moving costs. New skates are less expensive than ankle surgery if you break your leg using a skate that is falling apart, and the long term health benefits of exercise from hockey are immeasurable. Honestly, I don’t know if you can afford to not get new skates.

If you're going to profile them, I would look at doing a combo 9/10 profile. You'll get good agility, but also keep your glide. As for FBV, if you're on a 92/50 right now I would suggest going to a 90/75. You'll retain the glide you have, but you'll get more stability in your turns/pushes. The combo of the 90/75 and a 9/10 profile should yield some great results.

My feet are really small, so I'm in junior skates. There are no skates that fit me properly, while still passing the pencil test, unless I go custom. I dealt with lace bite on and off for quite a long time, while trying all the solutions under the sun. Hands down best solution I found were Option B skate straps. http://www.chooseoptionb.com/ They're ugly as damnation, but they work like a charm. My skates fit like a dream now. No pain or pressure anywhere. Because of the way they're installed, they give the boot about 1/2 cm more height.

I have one of the original 5.2 pros in my basement, which is pretty normal basement temp. - Its grip feels the same as when I bought it, so I’d think it’s more the heat than the time. - I wish the blade wasn’t shot, it was one of my favorite sticks. (I had a brand new 5.2 and brand new nexus 8000 stolen from a rink when I left them there after a game. Every True stick thread is total trigger warning.)
