  1. Well, like Chadd said defenseman can control the flow of the play and initially the game. IMO,I think that just being calm and being able to make smart plays under pressure is the biggest thing you'll need to learn, I think that's the biggest difference between good defense and great defense. And just talk it over with your linemates. I'm always going end to end, or sinking down to the hash for a shot, being D doesn't mean you won't produce.
  2. Self project I did. Put an extra bicep pad on my 7500's and added my version of Jofa's floating slash guard onto my Pro Defenders. Sorry if the pics are a bit big.
  3. Been working on a home project for 3 hours. Turned out quite well. Modded some stuff. Put an extension to the bicep part of my Jofa 7500 shoulder pads, just finished adding my own version of Jofa "Floating" slash guards to my Bauer Pro defender elbow, gotta finish tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get to post pictures, cause I think it's pretty cool.
  4. Few nice things today... -Open ice from 9 till 1. -The McRib is coming back. -Met JOE SAKIC at my rink and got an autograph.
  5. Sounds great man, I forgot, how long have you been out for? I bet your stoked beyond belief.
  6. That was my favorite part. He didn't even see it coming.
  7. Finally found my flow tonight. Got first goal of the season off a clean point shot, and was close to getting 2 more. I gotta say, I can't wait till my next game. Oh and I'm getting new hockey pants tomorrow.
  8. Got these a week or so ago...only figured out how to upload now. Traded from Scotty. Your the best man!! Enjoy the stick!
  9. Hope I posted pics right. This was last year at the Olympics. I'm 15, only thing is, my setups changed a fair bit.
  10. Just got back from a game tonight. Finally got a chance in the shootout. I pulled my signature move, it worked perfectly. But no, I just had to lose and edge and miss the net. By like 5 cm..lovely. Just lovely. And that woulda kept the game going too, we probably would've won.
  11. After like a month, finally got the jersey I ordered. NHL Authentic Bruins Winter Classic Jersey. And who else, but Bobby Orr. Looking to find a shell and edge socks to match suite.
  12. At least your team seems decent. My team is pretty bad. We've lost the last 5 games, the 4 of those 5 games the other team scores more than 10 goals. The most we've scored in a game is 3. I dunno what it is, our team has the right players to be contenders but we just lack something.
  13. Changed a fair bit, thought it'd be okay to update. Helmet: Bauer 8500 w/Bauer RBE III Cage Shoulder: Jofa 7500 Elbow: Nike Bauer Pro Defender Pants: Reebok 7k Shins: Bauer Vapor X:Shift Skates: Reebok 10k Sticks: Base Savoy Special, Bauer One 95x2 Gloves: Reebok Steve Bernier Pro Stock 10k's Warrior Christian Ehrhoff Pro Stock Franchises.
  14. Look, I really wasn't comparing in anyway like that, I thought that he just might be pissed or something about it and then some random kid asking for pictures. If anything, then it's my fault guys. Sorry.
  15. That sucks...and is pretty screwed up. Hate to ask at a time like this but got pics? Hopefully you've got warranty or something.
  16. Getting a pair of lightly used One 90's this weekend for 20. Personally, my favorite Bauer glove. They're old but it's like getting the toy I never got that Christmas to me(except all my "toys" were gear, and I was pretty lucky). Oh and they're signed by Dany Heatley which is chool.
  17. Had my glasses broken today. Apparently I had to get new ones. I was lucky enough to get a deal on them, for 170. But still, there goes my stick money. And the Stealth I found was my coaches. Oddly enough, he didn't even notice until the next practice when I had to be using it right in front of him. I guess it can only get worse from here.
  18. Well, this is a first that I've actually had 2 worthy sweet spots in one day. At the practice, was unfortunately told that I was still too "defensive" but in my defense, the other forwards were pretty brutal backchecking. Had a game right after, played well, but got taken down on a breakaway without a penalty and fanned on a one-timer that could've been the tying goal(5-4). What makes this day great? I found an Easton Stealth CNT at my rink brand new. I even took the time to ask around if others owned the stick. Sent an email this weekend, if all goes well I got a new stick.
  19. Got invited to go out to an tryout/practice for A. Not too high level, but it'll be cool to try anyways even though there's only 2 spots open. But having to play forward instead of defense will be kinda weird.
  20. My mom's birthday, had a nice dinner and such. Dunno how I'm gonna go to practice tommorow having just eaten hickory ribs and chicken...
  21. Not really a big thing, but picked up a pair of Graf footbeds today. Wow, do they feel good.
  22. Is it maybe just the camera, but I think the color looks like red with some bluish...is it just me?
  23. You know, just being able to turn on the TV at any time and having a good chance of seeing hockey highlights on TSN and Sportsnet makes me happy. Then of course, being able to listen to the games on radio when doing work or stuff. And oh, they Canucks are playing!! Life is sweet.
  24. You tried to make it better, you can't blame yourself. Me? I woulda screwed up his skates so bad, he couldn't stand up and blamed it on the machine. That would easily get me fired, but I would've gone on my gut which is that.

    Bauer Vapor X:60

Bauer Vapor X:60 Flex: 87 Curve: P92 grip Height: 5'8 Weight: 184 Postition:Defense Time-frame of use:October to April Aesthetics: I was really happy with the new design of the vapor stick. I really didn't like the design of the Vapor XXXX stick(And lower end models on line). For me, it was way too much, didn't need to be complex. Love this stick design, clean and simple. 10/10 Weight and Balance: This is probably the lightest stick I've ever used. It's listed at 430 grams, but in my opinion is a lot lighter. Mainly because the stick has phenomenal balance. It feels very good, not shaft or blade heavy. It was a little difficult for me to get used to the weight, but that shouldn't be a problem for others(I used to like heavy sticks). 10/10 Blade: The blade was very crisp and very lively. For me, it was a little different. Not really in a good or bad way. I had come of a One 95 and loved the wood feel, so it took a bit of time getting used to. Nevertheless, it got much better shortly, handling felt very nice, I found myself doing a bit better with my handling(stone hands here). The blade was durable, and had no chips, mainly skate scratches(a lot) yet still held up. 8.5/10 Shaft/Flex: I really liked the rounded shaft shape of the X:60. Typically, I'm used to the sort of squarish feel, but this felt quite comfortable in my hands. It seems to fit right in. Using 87 flex, as usual, a bit different from my One 95. Couldn't really load up as I usually did.(More on shooting). But it felt great and all, so no complaints. 9/10 Stickhandling and Passing: My stickhandling improved quite a bit, albeit that I'm a defencemen, and dangling isn't exactly my forte. When I think stickhandling and passing, I want a stick that lets me feel my passes, feel the puck. The stick did just that. The blade is quite lively and even pingy, but it didn't hinder anything. I really liked the crisp feel as opposed to the One 95. 8.5/10 Shooting: I was quite happy with the shooting of this blade. The dual kickpoints really let me get the best of both worlds. I felt it the first night I used it, doing shooting drills. It had the quick release of a low kick stick, yet I could still take good slapshots. However, I really missed how I couldn't load up into the stick like with the One 95. I loved being able to put all my weight into it. However, I quickly forgot and all was forgiven. 10/10 Durability: Well, it broke to a tomahawk slash..but until then, it held up strong. No grip peeling, no scratches. The bottom of my stick wasn't as beat up as I thought it would be as I progressed through the season. The blade was in primo condition, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. 9/10 Conclusion: A fantastic stick, Bauer outdid itself. However, after it broke it was at the time of the recall so I went back to using One 95's. I'd gladly use the X:60 any day though, as I commonly trade off sticks with my friends for shifts at practice and shinny(He's got a 60). Wouldn't hesitate to buy the stick again either. 9/10
