2005 Easton Catalogue Review
hockechamp14 replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2005 Product Catalogue Reviews
I don't think he'll be all nike to be honest. The clips they have of him on the site even have him with easton stick and gloves. I think that since nike doesn't have a glove line and the apollos are so old, that they don't mind too much. You'd never see that in Bauer though. Any particular reason that Nike only has two sponsored players? Back in the day they sponsored everyone an thier mom... -

There's another topic from a couple weeks ago about how players can't change the name on equipment. Would the same thing apply? The easton skates are super-imposed on his vapors I'm assuming of course... -

I just was looking to see thier wood models, but they don't have the weights of thier woodies... ANYHOW: On the 53rd page they have foresberg wearing a pair of 1300's. Is that legal? Forsberg has always worn grafs, until he switched to the Vapor XX at the launch of the skate... -
just got my old coyotes pro-stocks a few days ago, I gotta send em somewhere to get the blue done... http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-10/843...nglovescopy.jpg

You play for the blue devils? My uncle used to be rink manager up in west haven. My dad played for the westies back in the day, where he grew up.

Anyone else skate better in damp/ wet skates?
hockechamp14 replied to wickedwrister's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
There's been some kids at my school so addicted to dip that they would put it in thier shoes between thier toes during class (against school rules) and during sports in thier cleats or skates! I've heard them talk about weather or not you should slit your toe open or not... -

the moisture absorbed by the material in the skate probally caused the skate to expand and thus conform more to your foot. -
Most stores carry colored helmets too... I wear a maroon Itech for my school.
-
Have you tried on vectors or any of the newer tacks? I would stick with what you like, rather than trying to cross borders.
-
I assumed that he'd tried the XX on, but decided that the durability was the problem. Why are you so set on grafs though? For some reason I was enticed by them a month back, but when I got fitted, I tried on some 8090's, and V-12's. The guy, who my dad's friends with also said that the Graf's tend to rot out quickly. I also was recomended by other guys on my team that because of our warm rink, I'd feel like I was skating with cinderblocks on my feet by the end because of all the water build up.
-
If you had your heart set on the XX, take a look at the 8090 or nike v-12's. Just give them a shot, I promise you won't regret it.

Shouldn't reebok be looking to aquire a different fit than what CCM does already to possibly get a bigger market share in skates?
-
guess it's a little late, but if you need grip off your stick real bad, you could always use your skate as a cutting utility, and slitly peel it off.

Bauer makes the lindros, which is similar to a recci. If you want to see all blades in the database, then don't fill out any of the fields. Just hit search with nothing filled out, gives the stats for all the blades.
-
I liked the recci curve, then moved to the Sakic curve, and I don't really like it all that much. The main problem I'm having is the open face on the end of the blade, but other than that, it's great and close to the Recci.

Wouldn't be surprised, if someone bothers to capitalize full words but not the first letter of a sentence, then something's up. -

2005 RBK Catalogue Review
hockechamp14 replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2005 Product Catalogue Reviews
Should a CCM shell be able to fit over it? If the CCM is the same size pant as the Rbk you should be fine. Although, you should always buy a shell up a size so that it fits cleanly over without the bottom sticking out. Anybody have any ideas on why the girdle wasn't released in the US? -

maybe the slower dry reduces the stiffness of pants when they dry. I know it's a real pain in the butt when my pants dry out fast and then are all crunchy. -
2005 CCM Catalogue Review
hockechamp14 replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2005 Product Catalogue Reviews
Not to be "that guy," but it's been almost three weeks. Have the scans been forgotten about? I'm really excited because I want to check out the new pants because I need a new pair. Exactly how different are the new Tacks? My dad has worn tacks for like 30 years and he's worried about the change, if he ever needs skates again. :P -
That's not a hard decision, CHANGE THEM.... :P I'm not made of money! They're really light, but the protection is very sub par on them. I'm still trying to figure out the whole easton/CCM/Tackla maze. Although, I am very intrigued by the new RBK model...

Product: 14 inch 04 model bauer vapor XX - navy Stats: 5' 10" 165 pounds W/C/D Jr. B, 16 years old Fit: These gloves did wonderfully when I first put them on. They have and ackward feeling to them, but they actually fit very tightly, and they felt a little bit like wearing lacrosse gloves. Coming into these from bauer supreme 5000's I still don't like them a ton, but they're just not my type. 9/10 Protection: These gloves throw it down and don't mess around when protecting you. Dual density foam and poly inserts make these things tanks. I've taken all sorts of slashes and hacks on my gloves, and think nothing of it because I never feel anything. These gloves have made me forget that it IS possible to recieve a hand injury. The adjustable band is perfect for me on these gloves. When I'm playing forward I can tighten them to my forearms for my wrist shots and when I get hacked, and when on D, I can loosen them up so i can unload on my slapper. The only thing bad about these is how low cut the gloves are. That and the thumb are the only things that make it lose points. On another note, I broke my thumb a year and two months ago, and it never grew back correctly. My supreme's did a phenominal job guarding against it, but once or twice I've messed it up in my vapors by jamming it. 8.5/10 Weight: The gloves are amazing on weight, yet retain enough weight where they feel firm on your hands. Sure there are better, but for me, I can't go any lighter without being insecure in my glove. 10/10 Durability: These things are tanks. I've gotten the hell beaten out of all my equiptment, my vapors have no cuts, no knicks, and nothing else. This is wear they really beat out the 5000's 10/10 Other: These are too tight on my hands for me. I dislike that and the overall feeling of the gloves. At the same time, the stretch palm does feel great. I would rather own these than the vapor 30's (look at the price! plus those things are UUUUUUGLY!) The design for me is pretty ugly on the twenties, but managable. These are a great glove, and if you can pick it up for a lower price with the thirty now out then do it! There's so many things I didn't mention here, and the fact is that the bauer gloves are so great it is probally something I don't even think about. These are great gloves, but just not my type. They're good for the niche "speedy" forward who would otherwise be wearing something like the nike quest gloves. Overall rating 9/10
