YYEEEESSSSSSSS!!!! The Skatin Utes take home the inaugural Wasatch Cup with a triple overtime win over Utah State.

Wish I had the balls to do this.... My son has some regular skates he goes to & always pushes me to join him & I cannot get past the fact that I'll be a pylon out there. Know it would be good for my game & great exercise(sort of my always second bonus, better than a run, treadmill or elliptical), but I worry so much, just can't get myself to go lace um up....

....and next week, se may decide she doesn't want to play sports and get into music and infatuated with boys. Kids? You just ride the waves you get & love them all the same!

Thank you. She has been blessed with size(she’s almost 5’ tall), athletic ability and a very high competitive drive, which is a huge asset and headache. She works really hard, gets a lot of ice time and is a GREAT athlete. She also retains and implements instruction well. Anyway, all of the above has afforded her the ability to compete at a high level in every sport she plays.

I think this is 2 banners in my Little One's last two tournaments(one with the boys, one with the girls).

Holy snikes, good on you for holding your cool. That could have escalated quickly. What an idiot!

Sweet Spot, I get coaching from my son. Funny, I talk about S&P above, but go out with the pups & my son breaks down my skating and tells me(in his way, he's really gentle), do this! He works me, my legs are still a little fatigued. Added bonus, he works my daughter, but she has a harder time thinking she can learn from him.... Sibling $hit...

I paid $18 today(3 of us, $6 each).... Good on you!

5 goals, couple assists & a PeeWee Championship banner.... Not a bad weekend for my 9 year old. Funny, I look at the pic and see she has started to tape her shins. I don't go in the locker room anymore or have her come out, she ties her own skates and apparently, now is taping her shins... Funny, kids just figure things out. She tapes her own stick as well(blade, I do her handle).

My Little One, after her tournament game today. Her 12U team beat a 14U team 3-1. My daughter had 2 goals and drew 2 penalties, played a solid game on both sides. Added bonus, she's 9....

My son netted his first collegiate goal in Seattle, playing UW in a ACHA PAC8 showdown.

Sat in the PB for 11 of the 13M of the 3rd in my game last night. Pinching on D, puck pops to blue line, I start busting back and as I am going by a guy, he grabs me/holds me up. Ref sees it(I assume, because he went into the box for holding), but no whistle(they have possession of puck). As I'm struggling trying to get by, I give him a nice little whack. He then gives me a nice push/punch, I return the favor, whistles. No big deal, we head to the box. At this point, I'm assuming he's just going for the push/punch(there was no whistle early). So as I'm skating, I'm saying "Guy's holding me the entire time down the ice." Mind you, not yelling, being demonstrative with my arms....just shaking my head, skating to the box and talking. Ref tells me to "Shut up and get in the box." I turn(gliding backwards, still going to the box) and say, "I can't talk?" and he gives me an unsportsmanlike. The vent is just putting myself in the box for the entire 3rd, it's missing a ton of time due to my pride....nothing good comes from testing a refs tipping point, even when benign. Just couldn't swallow being told to shut up..... If you're struggling to figure out 11 of 13, I'm not 100% sure either.... Could have been 10 of 12, 12 of 14, but I'm pretty confident on 11 of 13. Think double minors and the unsportsmanlike, but? (minors are 1:30) At that point they told me I could come out at 2:00 and a whistle and I didn't say a word. Took off my gloves, helmet and watched the game.

My older one in the BYU vs Utah game tonight... Good guys crushed, fun night! Jerseys were special, "Fearless in the Fight" game for Breast Cancer Awareness. Mom bought it at auction, signed by the entire team, proceeds go the the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Not me & I stole the pic, but aren't photos of your kids open game? Go Skatin' Utes!

Feeling super Proud Pappa today, as my daughter was named a captain(A) on her U10 Squirt travel team. It would not be so much a talent or leadership level that I questioned if she’d get the nod, I assumed there was a solid possibility. I very much thought she would fill the post well, she’s a natural leader and is one of their best players, usually the kid coaches have demonstrate drills/power skating. But being an '05, first year U10 (though she played for this team last year) & the only girl on the team, I wondered of the boys would vote her in(silent vote). It was announced last night and she was on cloud 9, which maybe is the best part, her excitement and pride. We had a nice celebratory dinner. Now time to wear it right.

Sorry to hear about the dog, MThockeydad...... Losing a dog is always tough....

Arrived today.... The LO's first Jr. size stick....

There are few everyday things I get more enjoyment from, than watching my kids play hockey....and skating with them. Equal to, or even better than, going out on the lake in the boat....and probably as expensive...

Well, just found out my 2007 Dodge 3500 CTD has 2 injectors that need to be replaced(are shot)... That wasn't the best news....

Guys that have hair, complaining about having to grow it after a haircut.... ;)

I wish I could say that we had awesome travel opportunities for women's hockey here, but it is really a work in progress. They tried to get U12, U14, U16 and a U19 team, I believe.....but ended up with a U12 and U19. (there is a GREAT adult women's team as well) Most girls just end up playing on boys(co-ed) teams. We have a U12 girls team that competes in a U10 boys(co-ed) House League. I think female hockey is gaining steam here, but I hear from the powers that be, it's counted "One girl at a time".... Tough balance/decision, competition level playing with boys vs the benefits of playing with all girls.
-
How sweet is this for the "Sweet Spot"?!?!?! Trevor Lewis brought the Cup home to SLC!
-
^^^ Are these co-ed teams or girls only(my daughter travels with both)? They're working out travel plans for the U12 Girls team as I type. Going to the Aspen Fall Face Off and then who knows.
