  1. ^^^ know what, not really a comment on that stuff or whatever, but I skated on my first NEW ice last weekend. They dump everything and do a new sheet every Summer and the guy I do a private drop in with, opened the ice for our drop in....it was so odd during the warm up..... Looked like you were 1/4" above the surface. First time I'd ever done that. I was late the next day(would have been the 2nd skate on the ice), so didn't see if it changed much. Anyway...just worth a mention. Sorry for your delay. Say "they", guess my home ice. I have 6 sheets(5 rinks) within 15-20 minutes. But AFAIK, they all do this.
  2. 9 holes this AM, hacked. Drop in for 1.75 hours later, I struggle. But I'm good at this....
  3. Left work early to tailgate the Utes game vs Michigan(good guys won), took today off to recover, 4 day weekend. Life is good.
  4. We'ew back! Last night skated with the kids[girl with the boys](looked better than I expected), tonight with the girls(few girls dumped, playing with boys only, disappointing). All said, glad to be back. Flip side, if we could get all our girls on a team, we could do some serious damage. Never traveled to a tourney we didn't maker Championship. Can't get girls to commit to girl teams, so we travel with 1/2 the talent we could and still do well. Frustrating, but I understand it's a financial commitment. That said, my daughter has missed tournaments due to her first commitment, boys team....???
  5. Good for her!!! Been playing for over 30 years and don't have one.
  6. That makes me laugh. It's great and a pain, all at the same time. Wouldn't change it for the World. Been plugging stuff into the calendar & it looks like a mess of time.
  7. ^^^ Her and she appears to love 'um. I expected to have a bit of pain(the heels look small) and she said the there a bit hot there on the bake, but nada, great...1.5 hour drop in today and said they were good as gold, bingo, like her 28K's.(28Ks seemed really soft, IMO). Son took dump for the Utes as well, lot of swag(clothing), new Re-ACT(I get his from last year), gloves(Sherwood T-90's he is not a fan) & a bunch of EK15's(pay $100 for them, get name & #) which he loves(first time holding one).
  8. ^^^ Added bonus(don't think it's happening), mom can fit in her 2.5 Jr Reebok 28K's. But maybe we'll keep 'um just the same.
  9. Out with the old, in with the new... The Little One got new skates today.
  10. If that's the agreement, great. But if their is not a verbal, if you're drinking beer, you probably should take a turn and bring beer.
  11. Guys that always take a beer after the game, but never take a turn to bring beer. Seems like it's the same 3-4 guys that always bring beer. Hell, there is a guy that has brought a few times in the past year and he doesn't even drink.
  12. Not having a hockey shop that I can go into and try on multiple skates, in the sizes that I want & model I want(even one off) to make decision on skates. It grinds a bit to always hear, try them on, as if this is a option that you're just overlooking. I was in Anaheim for business a bit back, walked into Hockey Giant and was BLOWN AWAY by the options of a shop like that. This type of theft is crazy bad here. Drugs are the bane of our society.
  13. Making travel arrangements for first few hockey tournaments of the season!!! Though still a few months out, it's close enough that I'm booking rooms and plugging in practice times(3 weeks out), YEAH!!!!
  14. gosinger, happy to hear things worked out okay. Did anything happen to the kid that stuck around, meaning did they charge him with a crime? Did he give up his friend that ran?
  15. Man, I just having a tough time getting by "27" as an advanced age. Though I've skated for years, I played my first actual league game 1 year ago & am 45, so apparently near placement in senior living. Don't know who these cats are, who are telling you that being able to compete at a rookie league or D league, is going to be difficult to achieve, if not impossible. In a nutshell, they're asshats. There are variables, time spent practicing, being an athlete/athletic ability ect., but it's not exactly learning heart replacement surgery.
  16. ^^^ I will add, I'm not immune to this. My 10 y/o plays with a JR APX2 & QR1 as a back up. Though she doesn't pick her gear, I do. I play with a QR4(I break sticks, she doesn't). Plus, she's better than I am...
  17. Amusing, there is a thread on this site talking about how much name and branding matters. It would be interesting to see where people would shake out if everything was black and only difference was build, no identifying markers, other than build characteristics. Long story short, bet A LOT of individuals would be playing in different equipment.
  18. He has them, just doesn't wear them. In fact he has a bunch of socks, but always puts these POS socks on. Every game, drop in, S&P...maybe he's seeing if they will just disintegrate at some point(they're obviously close). Kids today...blame it on bad parenting.
  19. Couple photos I took of my son recently(nobody takes photos of me)...
  20. ^^^^ AWESOME! I'll cross my fingers that the decision makers, make the right decision and start keeping the ice open year round.
  21. In past 24 hours I'm a magnet for pucks to unprotected areas. Last night took a wicked wrister to my inner thigh. Today took a slapper to my inside ankle, just above my skate and under shin. Different legs, I'm limping around like I'm 90...
  22. 2 Tournaments, 2 different teams(one U12, one U11) and 2 CHAMPIONSHIPS. No big deal.....
  23. Tournament wins are fun! First of the Summer Season.
  24. Sometimes a tie feels like a loss, but after netting the first goal, we found ourselves down 1-4 going into the 3rd. Said lets get them back one at a time. Finished regulation tied 4-4 and though we really had more than our fair share of opportunity in OT, couldn't net one. It was a fun game(really evenly matched teams), some games are more fun than others and tonight was solid. Twice had bouncing puck in front of an open net that I couldn't get a blade on....ugh! If I could get my hands to do what my head says, I'd actually be a hockey player. Fun night, the beer was cold after the game!
  25. I said earlier in this post it was tough to get on the ice with my son. Recently we've been fortunate to get into(he's always been in, I've been invited) a private drop in every Sunday. If you ever have the opportunity to skate competatevily with a pup, you're winning. It's like skating with your best friend x 1,000,000. In this case, your best friend is x 1,000,000 better than you as well.
