  1. Not having a hockey shop that I can go into and try on multiple skates, in the sizes that I want & model I want(even one off) to make decision on skates. It grinds a bit to always hear, try them on, as if this is a option that you're just overlooking. I was in Anaheim for business a bit back, walked into Hockey Giant and was BLOWN AWAY by the options of a shop like that. This type of theft is crazy bad here. Drugs are the bane of our society.
  2. Making travel arrangements for first few hockey tournaments of the season!!! Though still a few months out, it's close enough that I'm booking rooms and plugging in practice times(3 weeks out), YEAH!!!!
  3. gosinger, happy to hear things worked out okay. Did anything happen to the kid that stuck around, meaning did they charge him with a crime? Did he give up his friend that ran?
  4. Man, I just having a tough time getting by "27" as an advanced age. Though I've skated for years, I played my first actual league game 1 year ago & am 45, so apparently near placement in senior living. Don't know who these cats are, who are telling you that being able to compete at a rookie league or D league, is going to be difficult to achieve, if not impossible. In a nutshell, they're asshats. There are variables, time spent practicing, being an athlete/athletic ability ect., but it's not exactly learning heart replacement surgery.
  5. Of course I'm biased....
  6. ^^^ I will add, I'm not immune to this. My 10 y/o plays with a JR APX2 & QR1 as a back up. Though she doesn't pick her gear, I do. I play with a QR4(I break sticks, she doesn't). Plus, she's better than I am...
  7. Amusing, there is a thread on this site talking about how much name and branding matters. It would be interesting to see where people would shake out if everything was black and only difference was build, no identifying markers, other than build characteristics. Long story short, bet A LOT of individuals would be playing in different equipment.
  8. He has them, just doesn't wear them. In fact he has a bunch of socks, but always puts these POS socks on. Every game, drop in, S&P...maybe he's seeing if they will just disintegrate at some point(they're obviously close). Kids today...blame it on bad parenting.
  9. Couple photos I took of my son recently(nobody takes photos of me)...
  10. ^^^^ AWESOME! I'll cross my fingers that the decision makers, make the right decision and start keeping the ice open year round.
  11. In past 24 hours I'm a magnet for pucks to unprotected areas. Last night took a wicked wrister to my inner thigh. Today took a slapper to my inside ankle, just above my skate and under shin. Different legs, I'm limping around like I'm 90...
  12. 2 Tournaments, 2 different teams(one U12, one U11) and 2 CHAMPIONSHIPS. No big deal.....
  13. Tournament wins are fun! First of the Summer Season.
  14. Sometimes a tie feels like a loss, but after netting the first goal, we found ourselves down 1-4 going into the 3rd. Said lets get them back one at a time. Finished regulation tied 4-4 and though we really had more than our fair share of opportunity in OT, couldn't net one. It was a fun game(really evenly matched teams), some games are more fun than others and tonight was solid. Twice had bouncing puck in front of an open net that I couldn't get a blade on....ugh! If I could get my hands to do what my head says, I'd actually be a hockey player. Fun night, the beer was cold after the game!
  15. I said earlier in this post it was tough to get on the ice with my son. Recently we've been fortunate to get into(he's always been in, I've been invited) a private drop in every Sunday. If you ever have the opportunity to skate competatevily with a pup, you're winning. It's like skating with your best friend x 1,000,000. In this case, your best friend is x 1,000,000 better than you as well.
  16. There was an unplanned purchase of a Traeger smoker at Costco today, though I've been eyeballing them for over a year. Then I finished the day drinking this, it was my grandfathers, been sitting for a few years in moms's cabinet. Both now passed & my sister and I said, "time to run that bottle". Good day, stories while we killed that brought tears to my eyes more than once. Sucks getting old and having to rest your loved ones, celebrate they were GREAT! (Bittersweet) Some would think odd, the "sweet spot", but having a good drink with family, remembering our loved ones and the stories, sweet....bittersweet, but sweet all the same.
  17. 75' - 6 bedroom/3 bath, houseboat.
  18. Did someone say boating.....??? Just back from 5 days at Lake Powell! Didn't miss a game....
  19. Awesome car, OR! Played 2 hours of drop in with the boy today...been doing it every Sunday, private that a guy's he knows runs. So much fun! Thinking I should start one up. Has everyone pay up front for a month, he rents the ice and we play. If I could get the numbers, it would be great skate & a sweet bump on my AMEX points!
  20. Summer league starts today! Will be good to get back on the ice with the team.
  21. Talent level of the U12-U14 girls travel teams tryout was impressive, more so the 14's. Assume a bunch of girls that aged out of 12's last year and jumping at 14's(only had 12's last year). Some new talent on the 12's as well. Impressed all the way around & awesome to see the girls jumping a bit here. Maybe this is due to the tryouts being the same weekend as the boys, but huge IMO, as opposed to prior years where it was months apart. Lot of girls here that just play with the boys, as opposed to doing both. My U10 crushed the boys day one tryout, which was just before(rest to make ice) and rolled through the girls(combined), legs had to be done. Fun night, love hockey! Watching the pups is awesome, the parents are great as well. COMMUNITY
  22. A giant one. No big deal, they had the charge reversed immediately and I made an order elsewhere that will be at my door today(approx. 52 hours after I ordered, free shipping). I did end up paying a little more, but a different product. Then impulse bought 18 rolls of tape, wax x 2 and 2 practice jerseys... EDIT - For a timeline, ordered Monday the 4th, charged my AMEX Monday the 4th. Cancelled Tuesday the 5th, charge reversed Tuesday the 5th.
  23. Just moved my kid into his first out of the house place/college house. It's as close to campus as you can get, next to a great bar, pizza place and a tailgate lot for football. I couldn't have dreamed a better location for his college housing, have to love teammates. Wonder how mom is going to deal with this....
