Does your local Pure Hockey store use a ProSharp?

It seems very possible. Bauer has partnered heavily with ProSharp so I can imagine CCM might be looking to find an way into the sharpening market without having to buy out a big company. Sparx would fit perfectly into that category. Also, I noticed a while ago that a lot of CCM reps also do sales for Sparx as well.

They have a lot of big things going on right now so production times and warranty stuff is a little backed up.

Has anyone ever determined how to disassemble a Sparx ring? We got a new batch in the mail and one of them cannot be read by the machine at all. It just gives an error message. When I scan it with a Mifare NFC reader the data seems corrupt when compared to other rings. I want to take the backing off another ring and swap it over but cannot seem to find out how the rings disassemble the ring. This is what the data on a good ring looks like: The other ring just gives an error and says the data is corrupted.

The cost ends up the same.

Guess we will know soon since the next generation Nexus should be released in October 2020 assuming Bauer stays consistent with their release dates.

For two points to flex there does not need to be a cutout, you can incorporate a type of synovial joint.

I have been considering testing the Supreme ADV as I heard a lot of really good feedback on it. Now that Ice Warehouse is selling them online I might pick one up.

Article loads for me just fine. The entire blade face od the stick, including the hole cutout, is one-piece. It's not entirely separate sections. Again, you could design the same soft bottom and stiffer top without putting a hole in the blade. Come on guys, this isn't rocket science. I shared the stick information to my friends who are aerospace engineers at Telsa and SpaceX and their comments were "That design is silly and entirely unnecessary." Maybe Elon Musk needs to start making hockey sticks?

You are the one talking out of your ass my friend ;) I am not sure about your background, but I do engineering. You absolutely can separate the blade cores internally, and can also do such externally, depending on how you lay the carbon fiber. Adding a rigid upper section and a softer lower section. This doesn't specifically require you to put a hole in the blade. The hole in the blade was all visual marketing. We all know that many pro players typically prefer a softer blade which is why the standard Nexus blade, with a dampening layer, is the most popular blade in the NHL. It allows some forgiveness compared to an extremely stiff blade, which does not.

I am not sure CCM should be taking shots when they did this...

The moisture-wicking liner will provide a little bit of movement compared to the clarino liner. It's not a grippy fabric like you would find on Bauer/CCM. However, if you want to remove any negative space put in another red insole and move the tongue further into the toe. This will lock in your foot and keep it from moving at all.

Thats a good point. There are a bunch of guys I skate with that use pro stock sticks and I point out to them what they are using isn't what they think it is. I had this one guy tell me he could only use a Ribcor. He went on and on and on and on about how it's the best stick for him. Blah blah blah. I was like, "Hey bud, that's a Super Tacks..." The look on his face was priceless.

I profiled both of my sets twice, the first profile had too much pitch so I had to take some out the second time. Both sets have been used/sharpened for about 5 months and are around their half life at this point. It think you should be able to get about 18 months of life from each set of steel if you only profiled them once. That's 36 months between the two if you sharpen one of the sets a week, which is more than typical.

Thats crappy. They shouldn't sell it as one thing if it is in fact another. I would be pissed.

So I had a chance to use one tonight since I was a sub on a team and one of the players is a Bauer rep. He uses a slightly stiffer flex than myself, 87, but we use the same curve pattern and he allowed me to retape the stick since he and I use an entirely different tape job. In fact, he uses black tape and I prefer white. He doesn't tape the toe and I do. Anyway... The stick is overall very light but you can feel the weight in the blade due to the reinforcement they must have had to add. The stick shot well, but no better than other sticks I own. It was a nice stick, but again, no nicer than anything else I own either. Honestly, I think the stick would have been better with the new ADV design and the Nexus 2N Pro blade with the advanced carbon layering to lighten the blade composition but still keeping the dampening layer. Overall, the stick is good. Not great. I would rate it the same as nearly any other lightweight top of the line stick. I think there is some promise to the idea of a stiffer top portion of the blade, more torsional rigidity, but they added the hole to as more of a marketing thing. They could easily have accomplished the same thing without making a hole in the stick blade.

I actually had one of Kanes pro stock sticks and surprisingly it's quite light at 447 grams with the buttendz and tape. He uses a very stiff blade and the blade pattern lends itself to being very lightweight as opposed to something like a max height blade for example. He is also a professional athlete compared to us mere mortals so I would imagine he won't notice 20-30 grams of weight. One benefit of a heavier stick is winning stick battles and not having someone easy knock your stick away doing a stick check or stick lift. I think centermen typically use a heavier stick than wingers, same with players who play defense.

Rekker EK15 came out in 2014 and I used that, then the EK60. Then other brands finally caught up.
