  1. Youre focusing too much on semantics.....
  2. I didnt say quarter materials is what allows TRUE skates to be baked multiple times. The general consensus from the store owner community is Bauer skates should not be baled more than 3 times. After that the resins and epoxies start to break down and lead to premature breakdown. We had a customer who baked his Vapor skates 4 times in 60 days (he did it at home) and Bauer refused warranty based on this information. Our CCM FAST rep recommends no more than 4 bakes in general, but said newer CCM skates such as the FT2 and AS3 Pro can be baked about 6 times before premature breakdown.
  3. I think some type of chest/shoulder protection should be worn. However I think it might be overkill to rock a pair of FT1 or 2S Pro shoulder pads for pick-up/drop-in unless you are skating with a bunch of morons taking clappers from 4 ft away at chest height.
  4. I think it depends on the level of hockey you are playing. I prefer mobility and a lightweight shoulder pads over protection.
  5. If you are looking for the most protective I would say the Super Tacks AS1 or 20K are going to be among the best.
  6. I sometimes like used gear since its already broken in. It has to be in good condition though. I have access to a professional cleaner for hockey gear so I am not too worried about it being stinky 😉
  7. Most stores will allow it for TRUE skates. Unliked CCM/Bauer you can bake TRUE skates multiple times without any issues.
  8. Judging by the fact that they have a CCM skate in the picture I'm wondering if CCM is acquiring them.
  9. Do any of the other offerings have a custom blend to the profile, similar to how you have the 9-11-13 on Edge steel? For example, steel for the CCM holder?
  10. Found them new? If so, where? I love the RBZ.
  11. Have you ever condisdered offering profiled steel much like Tydan does?
  12. Black Armour (DLC) is $125 and stainless is $99
  13. Can someone confirm if on a FIT3 on certain sized skates, the holder sizes go up a notch? For example, previously the 7.5D came with 263 holders but a 7.5EE came with 272 holders. Will the 7.5FIT3 comes with 263 or 272 holders? We ordered a pair for a customer and he wants 3 sets of backup steel and I cannot get a genuine answer from anyone, not even Bauer, if that would come with a 263 or 272 holder.
  14. Very cool. Thanks for sharing. FYI: We have a few coaches using BT steel on TRUE skates with the first generation TRUE holders and they have been waiting to change to their new skates hoping that you release steel for the SHIFT holder. Fingers crossed 😉
  15. Many of the guys I skate with are "retired" pros. I laugh when I say that because some of them are not even 30 years old yet so it blows my mind. One thing I noticed skating with those guys is they only know how to shoot one way, HARD. Even when they aren't trying, their shots come off hard, whereas I have to put in the effort to shoot hard it is just naturally ingrained into them through years of repetition. I am sure it helps them being professional athletes they are also considerably stronger than I am. What is hilarious was after he blasted me he said "Sooorrriieeee bud! Why did you get in the way of that!?" as I limped off the ice. The whole time I was thinking, dude, I wasn't getting in the way I was trying to get out of the way. lol
  16. Standard STEP is 10' single radius with a neutral pitch. The STEP for the SHIFT holder is a dual profile, I believe 9.5/10.5 and slightly pitched forward.
  17. Have you ever tinkered with the spring rates allowing less flex for heavier players and more flex for lighter players or is there not any advantage to that?
  18. This was one souvenir I could live without. That shot resulted in a bone bruise which took forever to heal and once it did I was left with a weird bump in the bone. Crazy!
  19. No issues if you want to change out the holder but since the SHIFT holder is symmetrical and other holders are asymmetrical you're going to have to get some more holes drilled in the boot to mount the other holders. Remember, the STEP on the SHIFT holder has a different profile too compared to your other steel.
  20. I would hate to get in the way of someone who really knows how to shoot with those pants or shins. This was my leg after taking a shot from Shane Doan in mens league and he hit me square in the front of the shinguard where there is the most protection and I was wearing a brand new pair of Supreme 2S Pro shins which have quite a bit of protection. I feel like if I was wearing the Vapor 2X Pro shins I would have had something break.
  21. Its a combination of the STEP steel, steel profile, and boot design which is why most players go with a more shallow hollow when they switch to TRUE. I typically skate on a 3/4" ROH with my TRUE skates and during the summer in Arizona and Las Vegas I tend to go even more shallow. Before you immediately change back to your standard ROH I would try skating on the more shallow ROH a few more times. It takes a little bit of time to adjust but the benefits are well worth it.
  22. The steel can only be able to recover in one direction though? Right? Lets call direction that north/south, with the steel flexing into the holder and releasing. I am more interested in understanding how the steel will recover from east/west movement and load over a period of time. I imagine that players exert force/pressure on the steel when playing hockey that is not only north/south but also east/west. For example, here is a high quality steel from a high level player who came in for a sharpening. When I was unable to get his steel sharpened perfectly square I decided to check if it was bent, which it obviously was.
