VH Footwear/TRUE by Scott Van Horne

A heads up folks , it sounds like the lhs had to increase the size of the holes to accommodate the tuuk. Either it was increased overall or had be elongated . The heads up:: the rivets that are not the copper are designed to work with a hole the diameter of the rivet . The way those rivets work is they are hallow and inside the boot the arbor cuts and crushes the rivet to clamp . With a larger hole there is less surface area to hold the rivet. Not good , it' significantly weaker ..... The fix is to use copper : two in the rear of the heel, two in the front of the heel... two in the rear of the front, two in the toe . This will insure no catastrophic failure . I have seen blade holders rip from boots twice and it resulted in ugly tibia and fibula break . Just a heads up. Also every time the aluminum rivets are pressed out they make the hole a little larger .the increase in the amount of copper rivets used will make this safe too. -
HockeyTracker for Apple Watch

Ok I'm gonna sound like a dumb ass : how does the device know; does it take vitals at a base then use increases to know when you are out on the ice ? So with in the watch it has pick ups or transducers and a processor? Spurs my curiosity oh how. -

Wow those blades have some substance. How is the forward flex of the boot? The white area on the heel , looks like it' between the tuuk and the boot. Is that a spacer? -

Great stuff. I'm 50 played most of my life. What I miss is the ease of forward flex that was in hockey skates, when they got that crease just under the ankle. The boot didn't dominate my movement. Also I'm out of the player norm .huge guy . Im hoping your skates have addressed that forward movement. I am looking forward to skating on them -

Well I'm gonna gonna say in my experience weight of skates one brand to the next is not a variable that affects performance. Equipment above the knees yes . The difference you are talking about is small when you put the difference in the palm of your hand. To me if a skate has the fit and mobility and is a little bit heavier so what the pros will make up for it . I'm looking forward to holding a VH skate . I' m hoping the mobility lacking in other brands will be in these skates -
Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

Quality of the Steele too . The less expensive softer metals tend to bur . What I'm seeing is mostly mid grade stock steels . The ccm polished steel I have them and I have done a few sets . You can feel and hear the difference and no burr at all . I gotta see this Sparx machine in use . Going to have to Google the process (?) Chris is saying. Fyi I was never con the machine. I was saying; Don't be so afraid of a manual machine it's easy .just a matter of caring . Does the Sparx sense different blade hardness? -

What's two clicks as far as thousandth of an inch ? Paper is 2-3 thousandths . The edge checkers: where is there point of failure when the checker isn't giving a valid reading? I have never used them. Always used a coin comparing the vertical of the side of the blade to the horizontal of the coin. I also have a square called a tool makers square it's very small . Another tip for sharpening: I don't use a stone to take off the burr after sharpening. I use a piece of carbulou* .. thinking the burr may not be all the way off throwing off the edge checker -

Mark I don't think this machine would be that complicated being the target market is anyone. They had to design it around or for the not so mechanically inclined customer. I'm going off speculation not first hand. -

Sweet. Yes I gotta check it out. So the grinding troly runs on a fit path ? The adjustment is done by moving the skate fixture? -

Just had a thought. I was thinking the machine was centered via a blade width measurement. The blade is x wide ,then put it to the x on the dial and you are all set . Do I have this wrong? -

I would try the factory setting for a sharpening first . Evaluate the progress . You can always do another group of passes it needed . Experiment so you learn threw experience. -

Mark , I would guess a normal cycles set for a sharpening would be fine . Experiment -

I can't answer that based on the Sparx. If someone asked me to estimate how many passes on a manual machine I would say around 8 . -

Hey folks merry Xmas. If I got the situ right: the glove got whaked and dug at (not cool) . Then the dude that whacked and dug at the puck got a shot to the jewels (also not cool) . Then the guy hit the goalie in the Mellon (not cool) . Things got out of hand all the way around . It also sounds like the guy that was digging at the glove didn't just start recreational hockey. If he did that transition isn't easy. To me the biggest issue is not having the class and character to accept the gracious apology. That bugs the hell out of me. You did the right thing for taking the high road. -

Chris, I'm just trying to help you stop the puck and saying what I know will help you .... I will be happy to show you on the chalk board. I know probably no one use chalkboard any more . It's actually easier to show you with a card cardboard goaltender and shooter and explain it to you . But all I have for video is my phone so I can't set that up to Skype and move the players to show you the positioning. I will draw giagrams the best I can.... -

Sir, you have to take small steps when learning. Its not done anymore ? Are we talking about clothing styles or stopping a black thing from going into the net ; Both of wich have not changed !!! Right? Has the puck or the net changed?? Where isnt it done any more ? That would be at the Elite levels . Of wich this league is not .Chris is coming out of net to soon. I said a little to far apart, not miles apart on the feet . The point is to stop the puck? Or did that change too? If you are getting up one leg at a time from a flop you are a sitting duck. If you are already on the get up leg that saves Chris time !!! Almost 2.5 seconds of time to get up . Keep it simple and work toward fancy like the guys on tv . "THIS isn't done anymore" like we are in a game of trends . Listen to your self! What it is about is putting the black thing in the goal more than the other team. And the goaltenders job is to keep you in a position to do that . Chris is asking how can stop this thing . And sir if I don't know what I am doing then you should be able to back your mouth up with skill ,since you can be disrespectful and shoot me down and criticise me then you must be better. Do you think So? Would you like to put a wager on that . I mean that should be easy for an expert like you ? -

The dude is a douche. Stick going for the puck and the glove gets there a fraction of a second sooner , happens. But don't beat your hand up -

You have the right idea about coming out to cut the angle off, but you are coming out to early; this gives them a larger portion of the net by just using the length of there stick. You are vulnerable because you can't back skate fast enough. The way you are coming out now is how you would handle a shot from the point because from out there you are talking up most of the net . When the play is coming at you you have to come out and meet the play, not go out and anticipate the play coming or wait for it to come to you. Legs are a little to wide .it's faster to put the leg out then it is to pull it in had a couple shooters that sweeping your stick . You are screwed as far as having defensemen doing anything to help you . -

Goalies have done training with strobe lights. Smith gave info on this in the hockey news in the 80's Also there has to be an innate instinct to get out of the way of something coming at you , then there is no I supposed to stop this . Just the time it takes to do that has to be a challenge. I don't know what you are up against as far as shots or stick handling . Instead of doing a doing a double butterfly flop do single legs until you get more limber and build up the strength from going from the butterfly to your skates in one motion . In my opinion if the butterfly isn't done pretty darn good, you are vulnerable on the five going down ,and as you are down ,not to mention the gewels . When I am working with a goaltender : I will shot so they are going to stop it . Get him or her to move ,feel the contact. Build there confidence I'm looking at there eyes for a flinch and build that confidence. Bring him or her out and purposely shoot a little wide so I'm hitting the post if they miss . The sound tells them location in the net .. depending on there pad quality I will heat up the shot some . Shooting so they can't miss . Heat it up a little more and bring the shot on net . You can see the difference the difference with the glove and the blocker in one practice . I give them a couple shots that give them a sting . training : I suggest Roman chairs, stretch ,groin, hips, for the hips you need a trainer or friend to ease pressure on . Sitting feet together sole to sole as close to the body as possible, eventually you want your knees to be on the floor, . Then stretch the outer hip work on that range of motion. Look up stretching for this. Stretch your spine . -

The two machines I think each have a wheel that's proprietary. Compounds, abrasive contents etc. Each machine has what they calculated to be the best pressure against the skate blade. I don't know about one pass , that scares me . That means more pressure, more aggressive abrasive wich both equal heat . To me means a ruined blade. Four passes: is in line with what a good manual sharpening takes . What does a better job? The rest has to be a blind study. Even with some skating on a manual sharpening to act as the placebo of the test . Do a hardness test before and after . This will produce clean data . -

Do you know how to make a custom formed padded interior: wrap what you want to protect in wax paper or butcher's paper ,set it in the case and hold it off the bottom with spacers. The use spray foam all sides remove the wrapped unit then trim the foam. Get some felt and use spray glue to hold the felt to the foam. Not as hard as it sounds -
