  1. What do you think a new pair of these is worth in the year 2023? Serious question.
  2. If this is the case, it's not "user error". It's UX. CCM launches a product, prints out some general baking guidelines, store (roughly) follows them. This is the end result. What folks don't understand is, most end users of these products are just young kids going in willy-nilly to a store and walking out with whatever they think looks cool. They're not online researching gear or going to gear mod forums etc. They're not up-to-date on the latest uses of Saran Wrap bleeding edge baking technology.
  3. Probably True just grabbed the closest Brannock and stuck their branding sticker on it. UX is everything, as the saying goes.
  4. Interesting. Ya I wasn't saying they were drilled in literally. I have no idea what the process is, I guess I'll have to go watch a custom CCM skate video. What I meant was the last part you said about going directly into the carbon fiber vs pleather.
  5. Because then he'd have busted custom skates that were baked for 10 minutes by the store employee... At least with the retail he can be in an out in 5 minutes.
  6. Thanks for catching that!
  7. I've never blown any eyelets, to my knowledge. The Bauer one you just turn the timer knob. Google images tells me the CCM one is similar.
  8. Responding to a poster about a shared experience on MSH: "Thin-skinned"
  9. That's one singular comment about one singular issue. I stand by that comment. Go into a Pure Hockey and check out the True-branded Brannock device. It did not recommend I go with the size MSH recommended. Posters have even said as much that True stuck by their original TF9 sizing. Sorry you don't like it.
  10. I never said any of those things, and frankly have better things to do with my time than to pay for multiple pairs of skates for no reason other than to troll MSH. Good grief. At any rate, thanks for proving my point. My advice would be to just get over it.
  11. So this didn't happen in-store, but out on the ice? Weird. What solutions are there if the skate is brand new? Probably none. The FT6's look identical to the new AS-V's, so maybe not drilling directly into the carbon fiber boot might solve some of these issues. I wonder if CCM aren't having some regrets about the totally one-piece boot design.
  12. I went in the opposite direction - Hyperlite to Mach. Like @skates73 said you, you can feel the heel give more in the Hyperlites when you turn hard in the corners. It's definitely a more forgiving boot, per Bauer's marketing material and corroborated I think by anyone that's skated in both lineups. The edge of the Hyperlite tongue did pinch into my ankle a little until it was broken in properly. Then again, I skate barefoot so this might not even be noticeable for you.
  13. I had a similar experience. I'll PM you directly since any critiques are automatically perceived as negative and shouted down. Shame that its come to this.
  14. I checked your post history and correct me if I'm wrong, this is the third pair of Jetspeeds you've experienced this issue with? If the store baked them then for sure you're in the clear. However, I thought those skate-specific machines were designed so that you couldn't over bake them? Who knows. What confuses me is, how is there any space for the eyelets to shift? Or did the metal just bend. With the exception of the top eyelet, it's solid carbon fiber there, is it not? What I mean is, you're not going to melt carbon fiber in a skate oven. Simply won't happen. Can't really melt metal, either. What is the design that has resulted in this, then? Even in the instance of over-baking, you'd expect some solid brass eyelets to stay put in a thick carbon fiber boot. Curious, what league is your son in now?
  15. MSH talks about it here. Seems it hasn't been fixed yet. If you want very lite, one-piece boot, there are other considerations, as well.
  16. Probably just quality control with CCM. Nobody is perfect. When your recommended baking temp is 45 degrees hotter than the competition in the name of "thermoformability", this is the end result. It's all made in China anyway.
  17. I believe that CCM can adjust the facing for you. HockeyTutorial did a nice video on it, recently. You can even get lace-lock clips added, from what they say. What confuses me is, if I'm getting a skate based off a 3D scan, why am I then having to tell CCM in what direction to move the ankle/facing up/down/in/out? Wouldn't they just build whatever is optimal based off my scan? Unless you're a pro and can test out different total custom boots, you're not really going to know what will work and what won't.
  18. Lol I don't know what the wraparound style is. Fill me in.
  19. Then why did I purchase them in the first place? Of course I know what I like and don't like - I've been skating since I was 5 and never stopped. But I keep an open mind. Your interest in whitewashing my experience is curious and hilarious at the same time. Keep going. I've actually had several MSH members PM me directly with questions and we've discussed similar experiences. They seem to be afraid of being shouted down by the Mayor of MSH for even a hint of a dissenting opinion. Is that you? The Mayor of MSH? I don't know who you are, but you're totally outing your self as having zero credibility. I suggest stopping while you're ahead before your input is dismissed altogether by the rest of the members.
  20. Lol I literally purchased two pairs to try. I stopped commenting on the skates back when I said "this is my last post". At this stage, you are impugning my character and making it personal by trying to whitewash my negative experience, since apparently it triggers you. If you don't want me to respond, do not quote me and proceed on some totally contrived diatribe about how I'm "holding it wrong".
  21. So when I complained about the exact same issue, I was "lashing out". Lol. Like I said at the outset, make it less obvious you have an agenda, and people will respond better. God forbid someone not share your personal opinion on skates.
  22. Imagine being a grown man whose day is completely derailed because of an internet post.
