  1. Don't post in a thread that is devoted to showing off and discussing our gear and tell people they're wasting their time worrying about how stuff looks. Tell Ryan Smyth, any pro with white skates, or goalies everywhere that the way gear looks doesn't matter. If looks didn't matter every skate would look like Graf 5- and 7- series, protective would all look like Sherwood traditionals, sticks would be clear to the graphite with a simple logo, and tape would only come in clear, black, and white.
  2. Small indeed. I think there's something Easton in there.... Where'd I leave my magnifying glass?
  3. yah, microvent digital looks like you gotta do it through your local dealer. dang it I didn't know I could do more customization in store, I only used the online creator. I actually had them shipped to your store jbyun04 (hockeyshop). I really don't like the palms on them and after one gaming the palms are already piling. Does hockeyshop do repalming? I almost want to just take the palm off and put a msh or digi on it Eagle authorized repair shops that can get MSH palms will not put them on non-Eagle gloves.
  4. Probably not. Goalie gear tends to be more colorful. Concept One95 pads weren't black with white stitching and a small blue accent. That logo is pretty bad. They kept the XXXX embossed style but that X and colon are bad. I don't see how that would ever work on a skate though...
  5. Two Mission and the TPS sets are the latest additions. 15" H750, 14" M-1, 14" HGT, 14" XX, 14" Aeroflex, 15" HG2500, 15" Jofa pro. MSH Bag and new (to me) Bates pro TPS R-Lite.
  6. Very nice. By the way, for those not getting it... We had the XXX, then the XXXX, now we get X60, X50, X40. XXXX does mean 40, but that is not the current X40 as a few guys said. X50 probably replaces the 40, X40 replaces the 25, X60 will be new amazing revolution top dog dynamo.
  7. What I described is what I make. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y279/rust...ar/IMG_0871.jpg I play around with the knob size, but they're all about 6" long, the rib goes on the bare shaft and a single layer covers it, essentially making a thicker grip, especially since I hold the knob with my pinkie. Say it comes with a Drewhunz/Nik Lisdtrom size knob that you can sand down to your size. I'd still be interested in not having to tape the grip, avoid the glove wear. Jason- I've held an ergo, not on a stick though. I hold the stick with my pinkie right at the end, the ergo's slight curve just felt too weird.
  8. You mean the Koho Corebeam? I thought that was the replacement to the Revolution DRC shaft, which was like 98'ish? could be completely wrong though No, Corebeam was the forerunner to ModSquad. The originators of this site left Corebeam and made this. I'm in with TBL- Joe needs to make a few more styles of the Oggie to get me on one. The classic is too thin and the ergo is too radical. I emailed him via the site with some questions and have yet to hear back. If he made a classic that had ribs instead of X's, a knob that could be sanded to proper size and was uniformly thick from the shaft to the knob (save the raised ribs), I would have 5 or 6 probably.
  9. $10 for that S17? Sonuva.... I need to find someone going to a sale with prices like that! I missed my school's NCAA equipment sale this year, too. Very nice glove collection, and I'll echo the sentiments the others have been making about the gloves, only toward the stick. My collection wall lost my S17 to a trade with cougarscaptain87 and I've been keeping my eyes out for a Drury/Lidstrom on the cheap ever since.
  10. If your jock has a velcro flap the pulls up to reveal the hook side, cut it off and sew a the front two inside one pair of socks and the back two on the front inside of the other. My friend cut his tabs off and the velcro doesn't get very gummed up, he's been using his for a few years now.
  11. Please forgive my ignorance everyone....but....what exactly is MIA? It's a company that was making custom gloves, their MB-22 became the Warrior Franchise when Warrior bought the company. Apparently they made/make gloves for RBK, there have been several examples popping up, some sold by the Capitals at their sale, some from Cyclone Taylor, etc.
  12. I was actually just wondering about that, as the advertising seemed too cheesy to catch on with adults, but looked like it may have resonated with youngsters. I've scarcely ever seen them around rinks in the hands of adults though. I was offered a free one where I work. I thought about taking it to turn around and sell it... but ultimately decided not to. I've heard nothing but bad things about that twig. It's a brand new way of doing things, bound to have problems. The 8.0.8 may be better balanced with the U+ blade, which would make it a good stick if the taper/hole area stands up. I got a 9k from cougarscaptain for pretty cheap. Terrible stick. I thought it would flop and wanted one for the collection. Reebok probably invested too much money and marketing to drop it without one more shot I guess.
  13. That was the idea, yeah. Even more noteworthy are those that were hyped up by their producer, like the 9k O-Stick for example. Parts of equipment, too - like the short-lived synthetic tongues on the One90 skates. 9kO is now in it's second iteration with the 8.0.8 coming out. None of the sticks from the current "geometry war" have gone the way of the dodo, so they haven't flopped.... yet. And CCM looks to be joining with the Octo Gun.
  14. I had to ask. Are you growing the full collection or only focusing on the above recently?
  15. Drew, are those all your gloves, or just the prized GX collection?
  16. Solid fingers are why I dumped the set of Eagles that I did have. Couldn't stand it, just didn't work well for me at all.
  17. All those are 100+ flex I take it, Drew? If you've got any whip shafts from that haul.... ;) How much all that run you?
  18. Surprisingly I'm seeing more AWD luxury cars in Philly than in upper Michigan. The people here talk about maybe getting 2 inches a year, WTF? Not as many subies, but I'd say somewhere around 25% of the cars are AWD (not counting SUVs). Volvo cars are nice, but all imported euro sedans are (Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, etc). I regret the decision now, or at least I will when I get a replacement in ~2 years and won't be able to afford another euro-lux wagon. My eyes are firmly set on an X or XT trim 3 or 5 series bimmer.
  19. Abysmal gas mileage for being car-based crossovers. They put too much bulk on them. A shorter wagon with AWD will hold as much cargo and be much better in the fuel economy category. I have a Volvo XC70, love it for this purpose, but I wouldn't recommend one, mine is a prima-donna for sure.
  20. That lack of money excuse isn't going to fly. Forgoing 2 cases of beer is enough for a good set of used mitts from here. Speaking of which, I get paid in a little over a week, those TPS gloves of yours haven't found a home, have they?
  21. Any of them pro or are all retail? Now we just need to see the rest of the collection, or just a wide shot of the storage container :P I have a bad feeling I'll need a trailer to move back to college after working at a real job this semester. Maybe I'll take the "big screen TV" fund and just rename it the "stick and glove" fund.
  22. The cuff is still pretty stiff- I haven't worn them on the ice though. The digital palms stick too well to grip shafts for my liking. They have actually loosened and broken in quite a bit from just 15-20 mins of flexing them while sitting on the couch. They went from tight and inflexible to a nice, looser fitting glove. I have them in a sale thread. The croslite padding also helps keep bulk and weight down, much thinner than traditional padding, fairly light for being full portofino. The padding can be folded and bent, only the thumb is rigid from having a plastic structure/protection. I've posted thoughts on them in the "Aeroflux" thread, as well as my sale thread. For $45-50, they could be sent to fixitbymail for mesh all around and cuff work and you have a much better glove for $60-65.
  23. It's going well. I needed a spare standard shaft. Used it for a pickup- flex is nice and light to just take snap and wristers all night. It torques out a bit much, especially making or taking a shot/pass toward the toe, but the Lang pattern is so long. Using the same pattern and I was crapping out on the backhand shots, don't know what that was about. I've been off the ice too much and only used it the one time though.
  24. Newest gear Fury Aeroflex gloves Bauer 4000 XL with Oakley pro modified (?), the visor's the new part Mac Daddy 75 Draper (12k!!) SE shaft with its new Mission VDS Rahkshani blade and bottom spray Montreal 6500 Thin Grip with Mission pro Lang TPS Rubber whip with Mission pro Lang More of the bucket with visor. The bucket's cracked and the visor sits less than a cm from my nose, even with the mounting holes extended a bit and the shield tilted up. This is a backup, hopefully to never be used but kept in the collection. Gotta have Oakley, love that brand to death (boots, 2 sets of shades, goggles, shield, more to come). http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y279/rust...ar/IMG_1095.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y279/rust...ar/IMG_1096.jpg
  25. Carbon, yes, portofino and stiffer nylons, no.
