Well, I suppose they Do use the FBV...but to an utmost Extreme. It's all done by hand. I'll see if I can find a video. here ya go name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>&hd=1"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>&hd=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="447" height="276">

Speed Skating uses a different style of sharpening
-
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but there are a lot more spinner wheel options available now on BS' website.

BR-100 FTW by a Mile. It may be a little costly, but well worth it. Like Reg/JR said, throw a layer of Electrical tape on the back of the magnet side and you'll be set. Edit: Upon closer inspection, the Quick Square from Skate works is the Same as the BR-100. I'm not exactly sure on BM's practice of selling to an individual, so that looks like a good backup in case BM won't sell it...but I don't see why they wouldn't.

Take some time and go through this entire thread..it's been mentioned many times. The skates I always seemed to have troubles with were the smaller sized goalie skates, esp Bauers, and getting them over the thumb screw. I'd always have to take the screw out, and even then setting them on the plate was a chore cuz of that angled piece on the outside would make it hard to get the tuuk flush against the plate leaving very little steel hanging over the edge to sharpen.

Yeah...it's a little more than that now. Might wanna take some time, and read up on the entire thread.

So i'm looking at getting a portable unit, X02 preferably. My plans are to offer up my services for the local High School team, and Men's/Women's league. Basically service the folks from my rink who require a better job than what's currently being done at the rink itself. (no Pond Skates) Would the 02 suffice for said traffic? I plan on getting all of the FBV sizes, and maybe one ROH other than the 1/2", the upgraded holder and the case/kit. Anything else I might want to get right off the bat? Once I get some extra $ built up, I'll get more ROH Spinners, and upgrade the Bat Gauge to a Pro Square and more wheels. Thanks for your input.

Everything comes out in Spring.

I Didn't think so..in that case..Anyone looking to Buy a BM Height Comparator Gauge? :P

Skated out on FBV for the first time the other night. Coming from T'Blades the bite was tremendous. Only thing I was uncomfortable with was wearing a new set of skates. I got a new pair of the same model, just a size smaller. Once I get comfortable with the boot I'm sure I'll be even more thrilled with the FBV. Side question..Will the X0# or any of the other units be compatible with BM's Height Comparator Gauge?

6-10" expected overnight, and another 4-8" tomorrow with 40-50MPH winds.

Woke up to This! Nuff said

Sure you can..a few months might be pushing it if you're only doing your own skates a few times a month..unless you have a spare set of skates to work on constantly that you don't mind buzzing off lots of steel. It just takes a steady hand and some common mechanical sense to understand what you're doing. And in no time you'll be one handing the Final Pass. Also be sure to grab yourself a pro square or something similar to keep your edges square and level.

And some just never learn

Getting my goal skates redone for the first time. Normal ROH usually lasts me about 5-6 games. I've had 10 games on the FBV.

I wonder how many Sick Days were used and classes got skipped today. -
Went to my LHS that has the FBV, but they have the 'retrofit' device for their Blademaster. As does the PIAS right down the road. Sorry for the blurry image.

Laraque wasn't with them when this happened iirc. This was years ago. Still pretty classic.
