  1. Just my observations. Wasn't particularly crazy about the 3 Fit System when it first came out. But I've found that it offers better options in getting a decent fit at the retail level. Is it perfect, no, but from my experience it works. For super narrow or super wide, or other fit issues custom is the best solution.
  2. People have asked me how the steel is fused with the carbon fiber. My answer is "I don't know". Bottom line is the runner is light, and whatever skate it's in makes it lighter. Just because Fusion had issues doesn't mean this runner will. My concern is that inexperienced sharpeners won't clamp it right.
  3. Doesn't help that the majority of folks have no clue as to how a skate should fit.
  4. Anything further from Blackstone on this?
  5. Custom skates? If so, why? Using retail fit stock I had my MyBauer Ultrasonics made so that I have zero negative space in either boot. That's my reluctance in getting a set of True's, fearing that they'll be made too big.
  6. Semantics...my point is they're heavier than other top end skates and the finish is sloppier.
  7. Agree that they're lighter, but still heavy. I am on the fence as to whether or not to try them, but the display skate that I saw at one of the Pure Hockey stores had what looked like many micro fissures on the heel.
  8. I honestly didn't notice any difference in the optical clarity when moving from Oakley to Bauer.
  9. I happen to know someone who has been skating on it for some time. It's extremely light and he tells me it's noticeable when switching between Pulse TI and the Carbonlite. Sharpens like any other quality stainless runner and provides good edges. Construction wise it appears to be significantly different than what Fusion was. Lifespan will be less than LS Pulse and Pulse TI. Lifespan might even be less if someone is using a Sparx or ProSharp SkatePal. It's a serious investment if you alternate between 2 sets and add profiling to them. Having someone competent at sharpening is going to be critical.
  10. The Carbonlite is sold only as replacement runners at $250 US.
  11. That runner setup will cost you $1100 (US) for a retail Hyperlite. I've also seen the runner. It's light, but that's all it is. I'll stick with Pulse TI.
  12. Having seen the skate I worry more about whether or not the insert in the tongue will hold up.
  13. With Bauer's and CCM's semi-custom skates hitting $1200 (US) True customs appear to be a bargain!
  14. Looking at the customizer it appears standard facing/eyelets are available on MyBauer Hyperlite Skates... Vapor Hyperlite Skate
  15. Word is that Pure is ALL in on Sparx. While there are probably many stores that deliver quality sharpening services within PH they'll at some point be transitioned to Sparx. While I see offering a great edge as leading to high end in-store purchases, I feel that their management sees it as only a $7.00 sharpening.
  16. Pure Hockey went all out on ProSharp for the same exact reasons and it didn't work out well for them. Time will tell whether Sparx works out or becomes another headache.
  17. One would have thought they would use a better looking skate with steel that hasn't been sharpened a couple of hundred times for their first presentation to the market...🤣 Looks like a metal grinding disc?
  18. Looks like Blackstone Sports is about to enter the automated skate sharpener market with a machine dubbed FireBall. There's a short video posted on their FaceBook page. Not sure if the following FB link will work? Blackstone FireBall FaceBook Video
  19. Not if you don't take care of them. I see many high end skates with rotted liners and rusted, falling out rivets from lack of care.
  20. 2S Pro is a pretty stiff skate so they may not be broken down. Basing that off my having 2S Pro's and was skating in them 4 to 5 times a week when I switched to the Ultrasonics. My 2S Pro's were still good after over 2 years of use.
  21. Depends on the model and construction of the skate. Not necessarily a softer boot now, but potentially that the skate is breaking down or has broken down. Boot breakdown can require more energy and effort when skating. Just my thoughts from many years of skating.
  22. Agree fully. I never used the skate pockets for my skates but used them instead for tape and other accessories. That can easily all go into an accessory bag.
  23. Better steel equates to better sharpening, edge retention, and glide. Worth it IMO.
  24. Pure Hockey Tacks X Review Hard to really discern from a video, but my first impressions are: Shell looks big and seems to fit high on the reviewer's head.
  25. Less production costs as well.
