Big month for me. @JR Boucicaut fitted me for custom Bauer Nexus V-Cuts at SJ and they came in about 3 weeks ago. I've been working through the break in process and the fit is unreal. I never realized how loose the fit was in my old skates. Kinda hurst like hell getting there because they are so much tighter then I was used too but well worth it. I already feel performance benefits. Details: Custom Nexus V-Cuts. Stock Nexus lining (wanted the new 1x grip-tec but couldn't get it). built in comfort edge (can't really see it), memory foams in ankles and heel pocket. Using LS2 steel and Edge holder. When I was baking them I also popped for these.... figured what the heck... If that wasn't enough decided to upgrade buckets and bought a back and white Re-Axt combo. (yup... marred and melted the bucket taking off the sticker... oh well....) No need to take pics of the white one..... Like I said... big month.... fun!!!

My recovery was quicker and perhaps my issues less complicated. I was skating in circles at 4 months. Playing at 6 months and I'd say 100% at i year. If you really have no cartilage left he might be considering microfracture surgery. That's a hole 'nother kettle of fish!!! Make sure your doc has lots of experience with this and has been a team orthopedic surgeon.

I had surgery for my FAI and had great results. I was 45. @Wolfpack_1986 also had the surgery. My experience tells me that the shot will not help you. I tried it too. Find the best doc you can. Phillipon in Colorado and Kelly in NYC are the 2 best. I have a guy on LI who is also excellent thank God... Good luck

Got the shot of me popping the water bottle! Nice! -
Back on the ice tonight and played decently after getting my legs in the 1st period and getting used to my wonky knee. Felt so good to be back. Yes the groin is still tight and the meniscus is still torn but god damn it, it's hockey!!!!

Not a banner day yesterday. Went to gym and strained adductor again. Ugh. This is becoming chronic. Then when I got home my wife got the terrible news that her sister passed away. Now I'm flying out to AZ for the funeral, cleanup, etc. Ugly.

Wife threw me an amazing 50th birthday party on Saturday night. Had such a good time (until we saw the bar bill!!!! LOL). Really thrilled that @stick9 and @Goonsquad were able to come. I know others wanted to as well but life can really get in the way sometimes!! Missed you and the party will continue in Toronto! It may suck getting old, and my body may be breaking down a bit, but I feel young and its great to have so many good friends!!

There is a lot f debate as to whether or not a sports hernia even really exists. Its not a hernia per se... really a torn groin/adductor. I was told I had a sport hernia and then also had an actual inguinal hernia. All I know is I tore some shit there and it sucked and it hurt like a mother.... Now I am left with something called tendonosis (look it up) from recurring injuries. I can deal with it though. All in all... it just sucks getting hurt!!

Thanks... feel for you too. After missing almost 6 months last year with groin and hernia and then the eye thing I thought I was in the clear for a while. This sucks.... hopefully it will only be a week or two.

Only played 1 shift tonight. Developed some ridiculous cartilage swelling/strain a few days ago on my left side and couldn't really skate without ridiculous pain. It seems I get some stupid injury every summer and I am f-ing sick and tired of it.

That's terrible.

A couple of months ago my wife started snoring again - it's like a B-52 taking off. Cant sleep through it and I have to leave the bed most nights. A month ago I bought her one snoring device. It didn't work and she wasn't willing to try it a second day. I ordered a second device and we tried it last night. It lasted in her mouth all of 3 seconds before she said "I can't sleep with this." So off to the office futon I went. I lose hours of sleep every night. My back is killing me. Not fun.

Nationally UW Madison has an excellent reputation. UMD is unknown outside of hockey circles.

You can wear 17 in my honor! -
A few years ago I had bought SherWood 9950s and did a bit of work to them, adding some padding in the front and back and then a belly pad. After getting hit high in the chest by shoulder - and then a few shots with bruised ribs - I decided to put them away and get something more protective. For a while I had been thinking about how to pad the upper chest (I take a lot of hits there as I go for loose pucks and stuff) and never really had a sense of how I wanted to handle it. I finally got around to it and I've been wearing them for a few weeks and I am very, very happy. These are so mobile and easy to wear and I feel I have plenty of protection. Finally happy with shoulders after a decade of searching!! For me, these are the only pads on the market where the shoulder caps fit properly and don't make me look like linebacker. I am very happy to be back in them and feel much lighter and more mobile on the ice. The padding I added comes from some Farrell stuff I had lying around and I think some from some other padded garments but I'm not 100% sure. The belly pad came off a pari of Graf shoulders. The work was done by my local seamstress at the dry cleaners. Front of Pads Rear of Pads (inside view) Front of pads (inside view)
