I have skates - customs - and had to do a few punches where the skate sat overnight. Having the right shop is the key.

What are the lightest most breathable Bauer helmets?
beerleaguecaptain replied to VegasHockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
No one said it cannot be but the device here is to see protective - or at least seek balance. There is also a fair amount of common sense (and likely some physics and materials engineering) that would indicate that lighter is less likely to be most protective in a helmet. Well, at least with current materials. -

Getting up after falling on ice
beerleaguecaptain replied to CigarScott's topic in General Hockey Discussions
I don't disagree with any of this advice - to some extent or another all is true and makes sense. I also started playing later in life - I was 34. Now I have no trouble getting up but at first of course I did. The secret - at first - , I believe, is getting your weight centered over your skate and pushing up with your edges on the ice. It's a flexibility and strength thing. You want to create as close to a 90 degree angle as you can between your leg and the one - perpendicular. Later, as you get more comfortable you will be able to push off sideways on more of angle and get up as you are pushing out but for now you just need to get up. -

NEW SUPERFEET 'CARBON PRO HOCKEY'
beerleaguecaptain replied to SeanCornell91's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
The bigger ones. You can trim I’d needed but you’ll need the width. When JR did my customs (Nexus V-cut 8EE) we went to larger Superfeef. -

I am one of the people you would say is "anti-true" and I posted no such thing - in fact I seconded West Side Skate as the place to go for his fitting. All we did is make a fair accounting of the issues that have been reported. And if you read the last few pages in the thread you will see them posted by True owners themselves. -

I was at the Islanders retail shop in the practice rink the other day talking to the manager - I know him for many years. He was telling me that tons and tons of skates get tuned back by players. And these are all custom. And you know which one had the most returns....???? -

As the owner of custom Bauer skates I will echoe @JunkyardAthletic It took work to dial them in. Pain, punches and preserveareance. But the work was worth it and they are now far better than any retail skate could ever be. And I’d also bet, dollars to donuts, better than Trues. -

Guess sliced bread is still the greatest invention!! -
I coached kids for about 10 years and always felt y job was first and foremost to give every player an experience they enjoyed and second that they grew up a bit and earned about themselves and the game. To that end I always made it a habit to make sure minutes were evenly distributed. As the kids got older the only caveat was if we were trying to win a playoff game we might make some power play or penalty kill choices late in a game but thats about it. To me if I played weaker kids at the end of a game down a man early in the season than they knew I trusted them and they learned to to do it when we really needed them to late in the season. That type of growth is priceless.

close topic... perfect answer.... -
Thats great!!! Keep up the healthy path! Once you get there you should look into Isagenix. 2 shakes a day, healthy dinner. Cleanse/Fast twice a month for two days each.
-
wow... may I ask what you are doing? I did Isagenix and it was amazing... gotta get back to it.

Lunges, squats, dry land training with sprints and shuttle runs! I expect you faster than greased lightning by SJ!!!
-
I agree with you. Most beer league players dont have the awareness to be in that position or the speed to get up and down.
-
we try to keep the wingers up on the point and let the center work down low. The guys that understand positioning better, when they play wing (weak side away from puck), will drop to the high slot and allow the center to double team the puck down low.

At 10 years old my best advice to you is to transition him to a mid level big brand skate that will be around for a while... he will get used to it. He's 10!!!
