  1. Because we hear all of these things about the durability problems and quality control and the weight etc... and then everyone comes on this group and says "but NOW its great." So this is like another of those to me... so NOW they added an inner layer. It's all great now. I don't know... the truth is that it's a bit cultish and guys are always talking this skate up like its the be all end all but it's a niche skate and it has issues. I wouldn't have a problem with any if that though if the thread were fair and balanced. It is not. By the way, you said they added this inner layer to correct the footbed/rivet issue. But this guys skates are new. Maybe they didn't do a great job fixing it? Hard to say but sounds very possible,
  2. well then, I guess that solves all their problems.
  3. Howdy, No. Hoping to address a bit of that here. -DM
  4. So then it sounds like using a carbon fiber sole is an issue. I am not surprised by that.
  5. You had the skates 2 weeks and had rivet issues that wouldn't have occurred in another skate unless you had a riveter that was totally incompetent. It screams of a problem. Doing rivets is easy work. It slides in the hole. It sounds to me like the carbon sole has inherent weaknesses for that to occur. As for the quality control issues - you are right - it is unacceptable and no one on this forum would have ever given CCM or Bauer a pass on that like they do with True. More objectivity is needed here.
  6. Fair enough but I still think the crew here is defensive and dismissive of any critique. And if the same holes were used for the rivets it shouldn't be an issue.
  7. ok.. I get that you made changes but you also know there are issues there. He all know there are issues with the skate there. It is well documented. There are also issues with tendon guards (I'm not sure if this were addressed or not to be honest). My overall point is this... 1. There are problems that need to be addressed. 2. The True/VH guys on this thread refuse to address concerns and its kind of cultish.
  8. Wait a sec...reality check here... How can you say it's a not a design flaw and they say it's VHs fault and not Trues? And then you say the rivet system needs updating. You are defining design flaw! I also never said it was True. It doesn't matter who designed it, it was never corrected. And now that True owns it it is their problem to fix. Pointing out that you THINK CCM will have a problem, when none has been reported, is kinda silly. You are deflecting. How they fix it, I have no clue and I don't care. I'm just saying its a problem they need to fix. As great as sliced bread is if it kept falling apart when I made my sandwich I'd stop using it to!
  9. They have this problem since they came out. That speaks of a design flaw they seem unwilling or unable to fix. No one would accept that from Bauer or CCM. Why do the acolytes accept it from True?
  10. 3 skates? I'd be mighty annoyed to spend all that money and see that happen. You'd think they would have addressed that issue by now right?
  11. Understood.... well they did shape my toe. Whether or not it was truly shaped to blend "properly" I obviously cannot tell but it feels great. They guy that did them also did JRs and thus comes HGHLY recommended. I trust him and I've never skated better since getting this done.
  12. What exactly do you mean by blending? If they are using the ProSharp template wouldn't that naturally blend the profuiles from one to the other? Or are you just talking about shaping the toe a bit? The guy that did mine did do some free hand toe work and they feel terrific. This is my first time using a Quad radius and I've never had anything other than a stock 9" and for a while a stock 11 back when I had CCM Vector Pros many years ago. I can't compare to anytuing other than that but I will say this... my abilty to turn quickly remains the same as the 9ft radius and my stability and glide are improved. I have more power on pushes and my crossovers are much more powerfui. And this is wth the added benefit of being able to go to shallower hollow at the same time. For me there have been dramatic changes. Whould I have had the same thing with a dual or combo... perhaps... I don't know. Wat I do know is that this worked great.
  13. so i'd think - and I'm new to this - the Quad1 would be a nice transition for @Fletch.
  14. I'm not sure what the stock radius is on STEP, the other guys will know better. All I can tell you is that my transition from a 9" rocker to Quad Zero was seamless. Might want to try the Quad1 from what I'm reading....
  15. what is your skate profile now? which steel?
  16. Just for an update... I was LS2 with a base 9ft rocker at 100/75. I ordered STEP steel. On JR's suggestion I went to a quad 0 and sharpened the at 100/50. Got them today ad wet fora quick few laps at public session. Played a game tonight and felt amazing. Better cornering, more stable. More glide. A home run!!! Very happy!!! I had been worried about losing grip dropping to 100/50 but the increased amount of steel in contact with the ice negates any loss of grip.
  17. On JR's suggestion I will be moving to a Quad 0 in the next week... just waiting to get my new steel back.... I'd be happy to share my experiences as well.
  18. I love cruises. I always have something to do. Lots of choices. I meet cool people. Leaving on one on Saturday and can't wait.
  19. Left last night. Never even said thank you or good bye. Costs: Carpet ripped up and stained, comforter destroyed, quilted blanket destroyed, dog stressed, Thanksgiving ruined. Brother in law now banned for life. What a D-CK.
  20. UPDATE - I AM NOW DRUNK AND NOT RESPNSIBEL FOR WHAT I SAY OR DO TO HIM
  21. Wife decided to not listen to me.. again... and decided it was a good idea to let her brother in law say with us for Thanksgiving and bring his dog. My dog is 10 years old and has never had a another dog in the house. This was doomed to failure and I am beyond stressed because my dog keeps barking and his dog keep whining and this is not going well. Maybe my wife will learn to listen to me now... what the fuck am I saying... I know she won't.
  22. We keep 15 on the roster. The team likes to play with either 12 or 13. 10 is fine too. We always have guys who miss for one reason or another so it never becomes a problem except maybe come playoffs. We always go 4D. The pace is fast and guys get tired late in the game. On the team I play D for the pace is not so fast but we are not that good either so it takes more effort. 4D in that situation works well.
  23. Just returned home from my teams annual Montreal tournament. In 10 years we have never won more that a game but this year we had a special squad. We went undefeated and won the championship outscoring our opponents by a combined score of 20-4. I put a lot of time into planning these and when the boys all have so much fun is beyond gratifying. Two of my best friends have been dealing with serious back injuries and both were able to play. One, typically a center, was far less an impact player than he usually is but he battled and contributed. The other, our goalie, played the best hockey I have seen him play in 10 years. It was an incredible performance and I am so happy for him. As for me, just happy to be injury free and do what I can out there. Such a great weekend... details will remain in Montreal!!!
  24. Hydrate during the day. Complex carbs at lunch. Very light at dinner at least 3-4 hours before.
