Those are so beautiful

Just spent an hour on the phone with my girlfriend trying to explain to her why I don't want to drive 30 miles of back roads to her grandmother's house for her family's Christmas lunch. Apparently the fact that it's been steady freezing rain since three or four in the morning and the roads are a solid sheet of ice doesn't register with her or her parents. This coming from the same girl that rolled her Trail Blazer twice on Thanksgiving-Eve last year due to similar conditions. In the end, being a softie I caved and am driving out to see her family. If I die I leave my fledgling glove collection to TBL to do with as he wishes... But seriously.

+1 my rink's pro shop has really odd hours. The rink opens at 8 a.m. Mon-Fri, but the pro-shop is only open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturdays the shop's hours are listed from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. but I've often gone in around noon on Saturdays only to find the shop closed, or I have to root around the rink for the store manager so I can get what I need. They do the same thing with their Sunday hours; the hours are listed as 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. but I've gone in for Sunday night games at 10 p.m. and the shop has been open. Basically after asking the manager and rink owner what's up with the odd hours they told me, "if we're not getting much business in the day we'll close up and send all the part timers home so we're not paying them to sit around and screw with equipment. If we're super busy we'll stay open until the rush dies and then close." All I know is that it can be a huge pain in the ass to show up during the hours they're supposed to be open only to find the doors locked and lights off. So, I can see why calling and asking if the store is open is valid, especially when the store hours are pending the whims of the manager and rink owner.

Warriors glove customizer has a 'brass' color that looks VERY much like the vintage gloves worn by the Canadiens I have found that the warrior customization process is VERY expensive! am I the only one? Just had a pair quoted at $300+ I'll never get another pair of custom Warriors unless they drop the price, I'm converting to Eagles.

Two finals, basically, canceled. This professor is known for his notoriously hard exams, but due to his own involvement in a doctoral program he has become increasingly lazy towards his teaching duties. Luckily he's a pretty good guy and when we called him on it he decided to give us class evaluation papers as our, "finals." So, instead of taking a 200 point test I'm writing: 7 things I learned in the class, 3 aspects that negatively affected the class, and 4 ways to improve the way the class is run. Just typed the first of two, took me an hour, and the second is to be made available online tomorrow morning... still four traditional tests to be taken this week, but this helps alot.

Those have to smell awful. Awesome elbow pad though.

I'll agree with you on finals, mine do not start until the 14th, but they last the entire week. Hooray for lazy professors that don't want to get out of bed before 11am and schedule their final for 3:30pm on Friday the 18th. I'm sure all 30 of us really want to be on campus until it closes Friday evening... gotta love the extra charges that come for having to stay the extra night on campus too. your professors schedule finals? here at the school i go to there is a set schedule for all the finals. We cant blame a teacher for having a late friday final, its just how the schedule works. im glad i only go to that wed of finals week Yeah, CMU does it the same way. Classes that meat at X time will have a final at X time, based on this grid you can find online. I should clarify, the later in the day your class, the later the final in the day/week. So, professors that schedule all their classes late in the day get finals scheduled by the school at the end of the week and end of the days. The thing being, a lot of parents won't come get their kid at 5:30-6 at night if it means a 6-9 hour drive home that night... So, people stay the night to help their parents out, then find they are charged for an extra night in their billing for the semester. I commute now, but when I went to a different school my freshman year it was a three hour drive for my family to come get me, and my last final was in the final time slot from 8-10:30 pm. campus technically closed at midnight. I stayed the night so I could help my family out by having them pick me up on Saturday morning. Bill comes two weeks later and I get charged $500 for the extra night, there was no disputing the charge because it was in the school handbook, but the position myself and others was in because of the finals schedule was absurd. I don't deal with that now, but other people in my class are.

I love the Hustler pants I have... I'm so jealous of you for getting pro-stock Habs versions of them

HAHA Dell made Alienware laptop... you don't want the headache that goes along with it... I'm not sure it's worth $40. I'll more than likely put that rant up before too long.

I'd like to gripe about people who have ads with pictures that have things not for sale in them. If you have real pictures you obviously can take new ones and if it's being sold you should stop using it and the pictures should reflect the condition to be sold in. Not to bash on you, but in the future save yourself the headaches and just take fresh pictures that only show the item being sold. I've definitely learned my lesson as far as this goes, and agree 100% with what you're saying. Problem being I listed on here and IW on October 18th. (If no one was buying I had every intention of using the helmet from there on out, "why take off the visor?" I think) I had offers to buy within 2 hours of posting the listing. So, I detached the visor and boxed the thing up. Buyer backed out later that night so the helmet is just sitting in the box, wrapped in packing material, taped and sealed waiting for another one of my potential buyers to send me the payment. Next time I will make sure the item is in the state the people are going to get it... But reading down the page a little bit isn't too much to ask I believe. If my computer was visible in the background of the picture would people be asking to buy that?
-
Idiots on Craigslist... I've listed my RBK 8k helmet on there the same way I have on here and IW Boards. Clearly stating in the ad that the visor on the helmet in the pictures is not for sale. I've gotten about 40-50 emails asking me to sell the visor... The majority of them I respond to politely that the ad states the visor is not for sale, and that's firm. But, people keep emailing me back offering me $4 or $5 more. Honestly, unless they're going to pay $70 for a used visor so I can get a new one shipped then don't even bother. Learn to read, or take a hint.

how much was the upcharge? I ordered them before the initial price jump that happened last year I believe. I think the customizer gave me an estimate of $215 for the custom gloves, but the final number from Warrior came to $270. That was without the pro-pack and lock thumb too. So, I was looking at a $55 increase over what the customizer estimated. But now, even just a basic glove with no embroidery, performance palm, pro-pack, or custom coloring done the glove costs $240 to begin with. So, take what you may from my experience... I'd be willing to bet if I did it now the final cost would come in somewhere around $300. That being said, I love my gloves, and am seriously considering getting in touch with DarkStar to have another pair made. I didn't go through him last time, and I kick myself for it.
-
Not hard at all. I filled out the customizer as close as possible and then just wrote the additional details in the notes. What also made it easier was that I sent the picture of Fedorov's gloves as well for reference. Yeah, I had a pair of Penguin's style Franchises made when Hossa was with them, and he was really the only guy with them on the team at the time. They were really good about communication with me concerning everything I wanted done on the gloves. All you have to do is ask in the comments section at the end, and they should be able to comply, BUT you will be paying an upcharge... which sucks.

lol waaaaaaayyyy too early for that type of talk. Crosby's developing a history of injuries, and the season is long. The Pens have played more games than any other team in the NHL (besides Detroit) in the last two years. Its relatively easy to jump to the head of the pack, it's much harder to stay there. And before you say you'll walk all over the Caps, wait until they play each other to say that. That being said, i think they'll develop a nice lead in the East, being in the top 3 through the Olympic break, but I can see them slowing down towards the end. They really just need to make the playoffs, not finish top 3. It would be wiser to give some players some rest if playoffs are guaranteed. I'm a Pens' fan through and through, but beating the caps will be no easy task. Watching them against the Flyers the other night on Versus... They're flat out dangerous.

I'm a big fan of just respecting other people and the fact a lot of us have to get up and go to work, class, or be with our families the next day. I got tripped a couple nights ago with the puck and was playing it in a sitting position on the ice trying to make a pass, all of the sudden something smashes into the back of my helmet/neck. I couldn't see what it was, but next thing I knew two of my teammates zip past me and put someone onto the ice. Apparently the guy who had tripped me also decided I shouldn't have a head and two handed me from behind across the back of my head. The guy ended up apologizing, but only after my teammates had threatened to put him in the hospital.

I don't know a baseball specific shop that doesn't padlock the high-end aluminum, graphite, and composite bats to the rack

Haha, I'd wear those for sure.

Between periods, after this kid had stolen maybe 6 passes in his own end because of the stick tapping combined with the deceptive shirt color, we called one of the refs over and talked to him about it. He went over and talked to the kid and his team... he came back and his response was something along the lines of, "they don't have any other white jerseys for him to wear, and you guys aren't really wearing matching jerseys either..." Maybe he didn't get the idea that we were all in black, and with the exception of their one player, they were all in white. We even had one of our guys offer to give him a white t-shirt. No dice... Busch-League

I play in a roller league run by Robert Morris University for local colleges in the Western PA area. My team is completely funded by individual fundraisers conducted by the club, and we're currently waiting on jerseys from SubliTwill to be finished and delivered. For the games until then we've informed the league and the other teams that we will be wearing black practice jerseys. I tell that story to tell this one. The team we played last night is also in the same boat we are, waiting on jerseys to be finished and delivered. They have taken to wearing white practice jerseys until they are. Well, apparently one of their players didn't get the memo, or is too much of a prick to go get a $10 white practice jersey. He wore a deep purple/ navy blue jersey last night, making him look really close to one of our players in our black jerseys. Beyond that, anytime we were in the offensive zone this moron was tapping his stick on the court. I don't normally have a problem with this, but the fact he was basically wearing jerseys identical to ours was a joke. I hate being, "that guy," but every time I was on the floor with this tool I made sure he knew exactly how Busch-League his antics were, eventually goading him into taking a roughing penalty. Kid had no respect for the game, or our team, and I think, in this case, the verbal abuse he took from myself and a few others on my bench was well warranted.

Sykora Unused E-Pros from 2008 Camp... These were given to him just before his customs with the short cuff came in... I was looking more for the short cuffed ones, but these are still excellent gloves, and in my team's colors, even better! Sorry for the picture quality, my camera is not behaving.

Those are absolutely gorgeous. I wish I had the money to splurge on a pair, but the new shins, elbows, shoulders, and sticks I've treated myself to this summer have really cut into the funds... Nice pick-up though

there's just no way I can keep up with you guys. I am in awe.

Dupes, those warrior gloves are B-E-A-Utiful!
