After being out of work for the majority of the last eight months I have been offered a pretty awesome job that pays well, has benefits, and is close to home. It really makes the river of crap I've been swimming through worth it. Employment is pending a drug test, but being as I've never partaken, I should be working within the next week and a half.

It's not like I'm even a slob or anything, I'm six foot and solidly built. Played varsity baseball through high school and four years of college, and still work out every day. I'm just not cut/ripped/shredded and never will be, it's not in my genes, plus I love to cook and eat. (Guys at WF and SJ will tell you I'm not lying) Anyway, every guy at the gym was cut from the same "Jersey Shore-esque) mold and I could tell from the look I got that the position he I was interviewing for was not filled, but I didn't fit the profile. And thank you for the kind words, I am praying and have my fingers crossed that one of these interviews really pans out. And congratulations, by the way :)

Went to my second interview (at a nation-wide gym chain) sales manager comes out, takes one look at me and says "position's been filled" turned around and walked back to his desk. It was pretty apparent the Roided-Out gorilla didn't want someone that doesn't fit into his army of juiced-up super soldiers selling gym memberships. I am not overly pissed I didn't interview or get the job (I have two much more promising interviews for more lucrative jobs next week) I was more upset with the hour-and-a-half round trip I had to take. Nothing like watching $20 in gasoline go down the drain.

They should both just wear helmets full-time

I know them both, she'd be the beater not the beatee

Something along these lines started a blow-out family fight at Thanksgiving dinner last week. What a mess, I'm sorry to see someone else dealing with it.

Was politely told today that I am no longer in the running for a job I interviewed for two weeks ago. It is really starting to get ridiculous.

So, had a job interview today and had to cancel. Felt great in the morning yesterday, then went to do community service with the youth group I volunteer with. In the sun the temperature was in the mid-70's, so I wore shorts and a tee-shirt. They moved our group to shaded area half way through... started shivering and getting chills almost instantly. Around 730-8 I started getting really tired/dizzy, and couldn't get myself warm, ended up in bed by 930. Called the recruiter's office and apologized for cancelling last minute. Today, the chills are not as bad, but I still am light-headed and foggy. I hope it passes quickly.

Joe at Warrior assured me it was the same color I was seeing on the Islanders and Oilers gloves before I would order. haha -

If by equipment sale you mean overpriced game-used sticks then, yes, there was an equipment sale. Honestly anything worth buying will end up on eBay in the next couple of months the same way it has the last few seasons. This was an event held by PensGear in the CEC to clear out the store's merchandise. It was not a true "Equipment Sale." All of the used and new gloves, helmets, sticks, skates, pads, etc. go out the back door to two or three eBay retailers. Here's a link to a thread on LGP describing the sale: LINK TO INFO

"Brass" is the same color the Penguins use...

I'm almost 24 now. The thing is the doctors will not put me on a "just in case" medication. Since I do not get them often enough I'm left to depend on Excedrin Migraine to take the edge off of them. I have to avoid caffeine, chocolate (I'm allergic to it anyway, so this is a no-brainer), and bright lights (hello tinted visors) all the time as they're all triggers. And then there are the ones where there really was no trigger it just happens. As soon as I feel my hands start to go numb, or the aura appears I pop two pills, and get into bed. Perhaps the worst part, however, is that my mind feels foggy for up to a week after them, it's miserable when I have something I need to really be sharp to do well.
-
One of the worst migraines I've had since I started having them in 7th or 8th grade. Couldn't see much of anything for a few hours. Tried the sleeping trick for the worst of it, woke up and promptly vomited. Now every time I sneeze I feel like someone is driving an ice pick into my brain... Finally, let's not even get started on the pressure behind my eyes.

Same things the Islanders have on their gloves. I have the carbon on mine and I was told that the color is consistent through all three materials.
-
They allow you to replace the tendon guard if it gets worn out.
-
Amen. I had one on Tuesday and my mind is still a little foggy from it. The only option I have when I get them is to get into bed and hope I can sleep through the worst of it. Heaven forbid I wake up and the room is spinning.

I ordered 25 pucks and some other things from IceWarehouse last week that I really needed to be delivered before this Sunday. The original delivery estimate said they would be delivered by the end of the day today. After I woke up this morning I checked the delivery status only to see they will be holding the package until Monday. Looking at the route the package has taken I see that it was shipped 4 hours towards the center of the state yesterday before being sent back to the PA/Ohio line early this morning. This is why I much prefer FedEx.

Not so unbelievable. I'm currently in a size 11.5 pair of Nike Cross-Training shoes that I had to go up a size from my normal 11 because this particular shoe "runs small". A few weeks ago I got properly measured for the first time in a long time for skates. My larger foot fits like a glove into a size 8 Supreme One100, my other foot is somewhere between a size 7 and 7.5. Luckily I had a good guy at the shop that basically refused to sell me the skates because "unless you go custom one skate or the other is going to be an absolute mess on your foot." His store (Hockey Chain Store) does not have the "competent staff" to fit a custom skate, He directed me to where I can have all the measurements and such done. Moral of the story... all of our feet are like... snowflakes
-
Fair enough, thank you in any case.
-
JR, could you give some general options to look at putting into a custom skate? After getting properly fitted at 5 stores I got the same response that, "to get a good fit you need to go custom...retail will only fit well on one foot or the other." I have a shop that can do the order, but I know you have a vast amount of experience with Bauer customs. I know alot depends on the needs of the individual's feet, but what do you think is a "must have" in any order? Thank you in advance.
-
For those of you that have gotten customs, what are some options that you would think need to be included in an order for anyone getting them? I know alot is personal preference, but beyond things that need to be done for your own unique feet. If you were to tell a buddy, "you just have to get this in your order," what would it be?

Did the ink run when you put it on? How well do you think you can control it around the wordmark on the cuff?
