Under your Equipment

Recommended Posts

Do any of you use that under-armor or quick-dri shorts and shirts? I have been using just shorts and a t-shirt under mine but a friend said I have got to try these, do they make a significant difference in your play.

I use wikmax pants and tight shirt, and they are GREAT....They really do suck up the moisture and keep you cool....I use to use a t shirt, but this is 1000x better....Definantly reccomend it....Go on ebay and buy them.....Theyre like 35.00 a piece (pants/shirt) but I went on ebay and got new shirt and pants (wikmax) for 23.00 total with shipping

Up top: just a nice, tight Nike Pro Vent short sleeve compression. I like them alot. They're very good if you're on the ice everyday and don't want rashes from your sweaty equipment.

Down under: Nothing. I've tried just about everything, but I just can't really get comfortable. Everything gets too bunched up, and it feels like my stride gets cut-down quite a bit.

i have one of the ccm under armour-type shirts, but i don't really like it. the sleeves are really short and they get bunched up in the arm straps of my shoulder pads. plus i'm the type of person who sweats like he's getting paid to do it, so it's not like it helps me stay dry or anything. if it's clean, i just wear my hockey hall of fame t-shirt. it's got really long sleeves, but it's tight-fitting enough that it doesn't feel uncomfortable under my pads. plus it's indicative of where my career will end up. (HA!)

i used to just wear an itech jock short, but i left it at the laundromat a few months ago. now i just wear my regular boxers, with a cup and a garter overneath.

Under Armor LooseGear or Easton BioDri longsleeve shirts and just regular boxers under my jock.

Any brand of moisture wicking underwear, t-shirts and socks (as long as they're thin). Eventually they will retain odor, so they get used for hockey only.

i use a tight adidas climacool long sleeve shirt with big vents across my shoulders and underarms, great for keeping me cool and some dri-fit tights to keep me protected from feeling my equipment too much.

Lately I've gone back to WSI for my shirts. It's summer so no pants. Usually I have to wash the stuff with some oxy clean but the WSI is holding up quite well right now.

Ok, so here is a question from the new guy. For those of you who only wear boxers or short compression jocks, do your legs stay warm enough with just your hockey socks and do have a problem with your shinpads chafing you? I'm just getting into this and am trying to decide if I want to go the compression pant route or just shorts. Anybody use that WSI jock pant and how does it perform?

Thanks

I also just wear boxers. I got some at Kohl's (Sonoma--Pro Active) along with a sleeveless shirt from Kohl's and they aren't too bad. I sweat really bad just sitting in my equipment but they seem to be much better than the cotton boxers/tshirt I used to wear. As far as rashes or anything from my shin guards, I have no problems and probably would never wear a long sleeve shirt or pants -- I would just sweat way too much!

My socks come up above the bottom strap on my shins so only one rubs on the skin and I haven't had a problem. In the winter, or when I ref, I wear WSI pants (non jock pant). One of the guys on my team wears the jock pant and loves it. I've had a lot of people ordering them lately.
