Roenick

I heard that this morning on ESPN. I wonder if he's done? I guess it depends on how bad it was, but he talked about it before so I wouldn't be surprised if he did pack it in.

yeah I didn't understand that comment either. Also if so many kings are getting concussions maybe there is something in that environment causing them, boards, equipment etc.

Roenick was injured after carrying the puck up ice along the right boards up ice and taking a hard but clean shoulder check from Phoenix defenceman Denis Gauthier at the red-line.

''I think it indicates the state of our game, the lack of respect - especially in pre-season,'' Roenick said. ''It is uncalled for. It is ridiculous - one of the reasons our game isn't as good as it once was. There is no respect for people in this league. It was not a cheap hit, it was a good solid hit. But you don't do that in pre-season.

''

Hmm, and people are not allowed to hit in pre-season? A clean hit at that?

If he does retire at least he should have no trouble getting a job in broadcasting.

This coming from the guy that levels peopel at the All-Star games

"this indicates... the lack of respect"... for a guy caught clean with his head down!

Gauthier is always up for a good hit, he caught another one sleeping. Hopefully JR won't be out for long. He brings some colour to the game.

There are going to be some big hits in pre season because some players have to fight for spots on the team. They have to showcase their full abilitys.

Gauthier is pretty much a lock to make the team.

As for his hit, that's just how he plays. Sending a message in the pre-season to a team they'll see a lot of this year!

The comment was about French Canadiens having a habit of wearing visors to protect their cute little faces, meanwhile they go out and headhunt after people who are not as protected. I thought it was quite funny actually. I mean, Aves didn't have to interject "French Canadien", he could have just said "Anyone with a visor..." so I guess that what kinda messed up on his part. But he didn't use "Frogs" this time! Lol.

Reminds me of a quote from the movie Last of the Mohicans (about the British fighting the French during the French and Indian War). A British officer makes a comment to another that they will win the war because, "The French would rather make love to their own faces then fight!" I guess the French have had this wrap for being vain for some time then....hahahah!

its called a mouth guard. some guys like him should start wearing them if they are bothered by getting hit by a guy trying to make a team. They dont impead your ability to speak on the ice either. But I guess in Rornicks case he runs his trap the whole game so he couldnt wear one.

They do both for me actually. I've worn one for years and I can't speak well with it and its harder than usual to breathe out of.

Is it a dentist one or custom fitted? If not then you should get one. You will definatly notice a difference.

My understanding was that dental mouth guards are for protection of your teeth and not concussions. I probably won't ever wear one again at this point in my career.

If only this post could bull his way to Roenick. This would be funny at a time and in his face.

It depends. If you wear a mouthpiece that covers all the way to your back teeth then it can help to prevent concussions. I don't have any trouble breathing with one in but it can make it a little tougher for people to understand what the hell I'm saying sometimes.

Yes, it absorbs the shock from your jaw during the hit.

I never wore a mouthguard - hated it, but I've learned my lesson. Took me 6 times.

You might want to invest in a custom one - they're great. People don't understand me when I'm not playing, so it really doesn't matter. :)
