Johnny Confident 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 Are there any good deals on the 8090's right now? Anyone know how low they are going to get?
JGraz15 53 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 To the normal consumer, they arent discontinued yet
duch 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 Great skate for the money. Shop around some local hockey shops. If they are coming out with the newer models you might find a deal on a pair. but the 8090 is still a fairly new product so you may need to wait until next year. Try on line as well. If you know your size and width you could probably pay substantially lower from a place like Hockey Giant , Hockey Monkey or Great Skate.
Ogie Oglethorpe 14 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 They are a not unreasonable $340 at all the lhs's around here. From what I understand, they are lighter and hold up better than the Vapor XX's, so for the money, not bad....
asdfa 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 i wouldn't imagine them getting too low... they're at a decent price right now, and they're good enough skates that dealers won't need to go rock bottom just to try to get rid of them
Johnny Confident 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2005 Well, Hockey Giant had them a few months ago for $200, but they were the '04 models with the LS1 holder. Now Giant doesn't carry them at all.I just don't want to go get a pair for $350 only to have them go on clearance a short time later like they were at Giant. And since they're being discontinued, I would think that they will drop from $350 soon.Has anyone seen them for sale with the LS2 holder?
pantherfan 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 this may seem a stupid question but i bought the bauer 8090's with lightspeed1's and they snapped(the metal runner only) so i got lightspeed2's(metal runner only) problem is they dont seem to fit in properly my original runners LS1's were grinded on the top to fit better i think before i got thembut when i place my blades in the screw is at an angle and wont connect with the nut so it wont go it any tips? ARTY SKILLZ BELLOW:I wrote push by the pic because i need to push the blade that way so the screw will be centred-so how do i fix the problem?
Johnny Confident 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 Damn that bad steel! When I called hockeyshop.com about the 8090's, I mentioned the bad steel on the LS1 holders and the guy I spoke to said they would put LS2 holders and steel on the 8090's if I bought a pair. I thought that was cool of them.
JR Boucicaut 3804 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 It's supposed to be in at an angle.
Johnny Confident 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 It's supposed to be in at an angle. Would you see any problems with replacing the LS1 holder with an LS2 holder, like thehockeyshop.com said they would do?
JR Boucicaut 3804 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 Why would you? It's the exact same holder. The difference is in the hardware and the steel. Just tell them to go ahead and put the new bolt and new steel onto them.

I think I would just want some proof they did it....I'd be a little hesitant to order them online and just take their word for it.

hattrick74 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 honestly check at hockey giant every other day they seem to have many "1 day" sales where a item is really cheap for a day then its changed the next day. i.e. V 12's, V 2's, carbster

pantherfan 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 Givenup with Lightspeeds 1+2 apparently my LS holder was crooked so the LS2 steel kept snapping because it needed to be forced in for starters and then was slightly bent putting the metal under "stress" so i've gone for Tuuk custom + holder and steel i think ill be the only ever person with 8090's with tuuk customs+ on- or is this not that uncommon? Johnny Confident 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 Anyone know how the fit of the Nike Flexlite 12 compares to the fit of the 8090? I was able to try on a Flexlite 12 in a 8.5EE today (only because they are out of the 8090 in that size) and the Flexlite fit great. I still would prefer the 8090 over it though.I am thinking of just ordering the 8090 in that size from hockeyshop.com but want to be sure of the size first. hockechamp14 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 The heel in the 8090 fits tighter. I also think there's a different arch, and a wider toebox in the F-

When I tried the D width 8090's, I couldn't even stand up with major pain. When I tried the Flexlite EE's on the pain was gone. The only place I noticed a lot of movement in was the toe cap, but seeing as the Flexlite 12's toe cap is wide, that would explain it :)
duch 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 Nike has a wider toebox in the V-series and Flexlite series skate with specifically fit wider feet. I had a pair of V-10's and they had an almost sloppy feel in the toe area but where still fairly responsive and because I like lots of room in the toe area they suited me fine. Bauer skates even their EE size just kill my feet, definitely not the same fit.
