Ever skate and play with an NHLer?

I've been pretty lucky throughout in these situations..not sure if Dark Star remembers but a place in the Catskills had a day or 2 in the early 80's where you could skate with Gretz and some other NHL'ers..(it ended when someone stole Barasso's prototype goal pads (those Aeroflex ones)..he and Mario were there in '84 ....you had like 15 min on the ice...but still..15 minutes

mostly I've skated with guys like glenn anderson, shanahan, bruce driver, kasatonov, starikov, Stastny (around the same time as Dark Star before he hooked up with STL I think) and the usual group of guys who were up and down for a number of years along with a number of the OLD Rangers ie. Stemkowski, Espo, Dugay, Gresch,etc who used to host some clinics at the rink

I do remember that Catskills hockey camp.

Did you ever skate at Mennen Arena with Gary Howatt? He plays open hockey all the time there. I forgot about skating with him. He is a real A-hole. Sometimes we would have one goalie and he would still come down on you at the empty net like it was game 7. Once I put the puck through his legs and got around him, right in on the goalie. Next thing I know I'm sliding on my butt into the net. By the time I got back to the bench the guys told me what happened: he slashed the back of my thigh so fast I went down like I was shot but never knew it. After a few seconds I realized yup, thats what he did. Open hockey with Gary Howatt, what an idiot.

I used to skate with Jim Dowd, since he is from my area of NJ, and I used to play for Alexi Kasotonev who played for a bunch of teams.

Dark Star..yeah..I never skated with Howatt..been to Mennen many a times...he was an Islander wasn't he?? That would explain all of that. ;)

Nah, i dont play for Brick. I still play club as I am only 16, but when Dowd comes around I skate with him.

Back when I played goalie, little Dougie Wilson went to my grammar school, and big Doug came up one day when I was playing with my big brother and his friends. He took a couple shots on me then left, and I skated home as fast as I could, still with my gear on, and told my parents that an NHLer shot on me. He either scored or hit the post every time, with a ball. Still one of my crowning hockey moments, and I don't even play goalie anymore. Doug is a real nice guy, and a hell of a GM

Ever play with Rob Shrinner, J.D., Or Pat Murphy.? Shrinner has a drop in that I think has mostly nhl's in it. Pusher, OSU coach (can't think of his name) Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre played over the summer in B league. I played with most of them.

Grand-Pierre is pretty good, he plays in a town next to mine (DEL).

I have played with Schrines, JD, and Pat, Darcy Cahill, never skated when the Jackets were out.

My friend got to play with Dan Hinote and a couple of other Avs guys. He said that Hinote was so unbelievably fast when you are with him.

Stephan and patrick lebeau,they are my cousins (my dad was adopted by the there oncle) and i skated with benoit brunet and almost every guy of the sherbrook canadian.I played against the luongo brothers in my dek hockey league.That is about it.

My high school coach skated with some of the Sabres back in the day. He got to shoot on Hasek and raced Mogilny. Mogilny won.

I used to play against Jed Ortmeyer when we would have Varsity vs. JV games for the Junior Lancers. It's weird seeing him now, he used to be this tiny little guy made of pure greased lightning. Glad he made it to the show, he used to make me look like a chump.

summer of '97 at the ice cube in ann arbor, mi. skated with aaron ward, kevin hodson, mike knuble, doug brown, joe kocur and steve sheilds was in one net the other was marty turco. also present were a couple of other players from UM. i can't say enough good things about all of them, espeically knuble and kocur. i played on joe's beer league team before he got called up to the wings in '97.

the one thing i have always found is that pro hockey players are very freindly.

Jason Bonsignore not to long ago when he was in Cali. And, some huge ECHL player. More of a goon, but had game. I can't think of his name, I just know he's Italian.
