i dunno about the trade. even though san jose is giving up three players, i believe they win in the trade. i still can't believe they traded thorton. he seemed to me like their franchise player, much like yzerman and detroit, sakic and colorado, sundin and toronto. very odd.

All of these guys are on the block. I honestly don't know if anyone wins in this deal. I'm a big Thornton fan, and a huge Stuart fan. The problem I see, is San Jose's offense improves, but they lose their stud D-man. Boston loses out on offense, and I'm not sure if they gain alot on D. Leetch is already there to QB the PP. If it was the offseason, I'd see alot more holes. This just seems to create holes on both teams.

Don't you think they could have gotten someone better? Another "elite" player or something. I also dont get how they trade him after signing a long term deal. Did they really trade him because he is struggling?

Nah, that's McGuire being a retard. He had alot of issues with Boston in the off-season. For those tho don't have TSN or didn't see, McGuire said he traded Thornton for losing a face-off which cost Boston the game last night. Green was supposed to take it, but hte linesman kicked him out and Thornton lost the draw cleanly.

Boston gets two solid players, and gives up a superstar. Not too many people have the room to take on Thorntons contract. The ones who do usually aren't in a position to give up their superstar. I think Sturm and Stuart will be solid, but Bostons scoring just took a hit.

Does this mean Sean Avery is an untouchable? Oh, sorry, wrong thread.

Boston GM O'Connell must be holding on to his job by a string. I guess if Joe wins the draw last night against Madden and Bruins get a point on the road, he is still in Beantown. Lose a draw, lose your job! I just got the CCM 06 catalog from the rep today and Joe is front and center in his Boston uni! Ouch for CCM!

Kyle McLaren probably warned Brad Stuart about everything bad in Boston while Stuart cleaned out his locker. Marco Sturm is up and down with his play. Primeau is team guy, total grinder, good in the room but B's need a lot of help.

Joe will have to get some jets to skate in the West. Good luck to him, he will survive and thrive.

That's a terrible trade. Thornton wasn't struggling -- he was averaging 1.43 PPG. This looked like a shake-up trade, but there were a lot better choices than Thornton. They should have tried to trade Samsanov, since he's only signed to a one-year deal.

It's hard to tell if it's because O'Connell is not very good as a GM or Jacobs is terrible as an owner.

Or both.

Yea a "salary dump" so they can get a Modano or Forsberg type of free agent next year. One problem ... who the hell wants to play for the Bruins these days?

Great town and fans. They deserve much better than the POS know as Jacobs!

You're being bamboozled by the Boston media/atmosphere.

He's had a bad back that has limited his ability to drive to the net, yet he's still tenth in the league in PPG (not counting Gaborik's 5 games). Thornton was not the problem with this team. Lack of speed, particularly on defense, is killing them.

No...a salary dump so that they don't have to spend so much money! Jacobs is cheap, end of story.

I was being sarcastic :)

Bruins fans always get excited in the off season with promises that NEVER come through.

DONT GO TO THE FREAKIN GAMES BOYS!

The Bruins have officially become the most pathetic franchise in the NHL.

What a joke!

God I hate this organization.

Ponty i couldnt agree more with you.

I am by far one of the biggest Bruins fans and they have just lost alot of my respect.

Are they challenged or what!

My opinion is this is a desperation deal by O'Connell to tenuously hold onto his job. I assumed after last nights game that the fall guy would be Sullivan or possibly even O'Connell whose gamble with the rookie defenseman has failed.

My thoughts on the deal itself is that San Jose got the better of the deal.
