Overtime 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2006 Why do it if it causes arthritis.
pat 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2006 Can't say I've seen that question on any forum yet. But yes, an odd habit people have, I wonder that too. Here's an insight for ya...Cracking knuckles does not cause arthritis. We get asked that alot at work. It's a myth. It's just fluid in the bursa sac's slapping the inner walls of the bursa. I am a sports injury therapist in Red Deer. Oddly enough people ask that question alot. Moloko Plus 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2006 Once you start you feel like you have to crack em now and again, otherwise it feels like your knuckles jam or lock up slightly. Yeah, i know what you mean, i get that kind of 'locked up' feeling in my finger joints as well. I also used to have some cartilage problem in one of my knees. Then i got it in the other as well. I don't get it any more but now i get the locking feeling in my knees as well. I find if my knees are bent for more than a couple of minutes or so then when i straighten them they click. It does help relieve the locking though.
