The rise in the price of oil is a large part of it. A lot of oil is used in the production of the composites, as well as increases the cost of shipping.

? I don't really think that will make a big difference to the consumer.

The oil bussiness is in Saudi Arabia... particularly Aramco...

If oil cost (to purchase) is higher, then that raises production costs, thus final product costs.

Wow, I remember the days when the Easton A/Cs, Gretzky chromes and even convex shafts were at or above $100 more than 13 years ago. I'm content with shaft prices.

Since when did a tapered shaft cost as much as some OPS'?! $134.99 for a Vector 130 intermediate shaft, 149 for senior

Barely any one has used these!!! Wow... <_<

And the OPS is I think $5-10 more. I was thinking about getting one of those shafts, but then I looked at the OPS and was shocked.

God bless the United States of Iraq

Which has no impact whatsoever on the cost of oil. Iraq has been under restrictions and the west wasn't getting any oil from them in the first place.

In other words, you're trendy little anti-America post was totally useless in this thread. But thanks for playing.

But if you break blades a lot more than shafts like I do, you save money over the long term.

who is stupid enough to buy one of them???

Well the L2 was very popular, and I know that it was only about $80 for the shaft. I think this shaft would do a good job selling if it added a blade or something. Remember the R-xn10-2 ? That was a very popular shaft too and it sold just fine.

The US gets more oil from Canada than the middle east.

ditto to what chippa said.

Aramco produces a little more than 1/3 of the worlds oil.

The US gets more oil from Canada than the middle east.

Im not so sure about that. Where did you find this out? Just curious...

haha, yes.

I'm almost 23, and I remember being 13 and getting my first big boy shaft! It was the blue easton convex. complete with silver tip! Before that, I was using the silver/black Gretzky.

Might I add, my mom fully funded that convex. It was $84.95! For the most part shaft prices stayed the same.

Honestly, I think shafts/ops have always been expensive. It is not all the cost of oil etc, but mostly a premium that you pay for using top end gear. You can get a $20 Koho shaft that has more graphite than a $185 ops.
