Mission Intake

Recommended Posts

Ya but thats online shops. Anyone one here expecting them? Jimmy? Chadd? JR?

Sorry, Mission doesn't want my money or my customers to have better access to their equipment. It's not like they are a huge company and have this amazing market share, I just don't get it. Anyway, my customers will just have to get another brand. ;)

Jimmy,

Sorry for being clueless with regards to your response, but it seems like I am missing some background on this situation. Care to elaborate? Did Mission/Itech deny you as an authorized Mission dealer or something?

Regs,

Jeff

I was at a National Sports today at lunch...they had Intakes...$129.99 (Cda). tried one on...very very light....very very comfortable. I love the snug fit at the base of the skull/neck.

If not for my brand new Bauer 5000 I'd be buying one.

"d'oh!"

No, they didn't deny me anything. Their sales force hasn't ever contacted me. IMO, one of my "big" competitors has put pressure on them. That's how it is in this business.

I have had the chance to try one of these on and my initial impressions are pretty good! It is not as light as the 8k but it's much more comfortable and feels more solid. My one gripe about the helmet is that the Pro models dont have that clear plastic thing where the screws are and the retail helmet would look so much better without it!

so cant you just take the screws out all the way, remove the piece of clear plastic, then put in some shorter screws, adjust to fit, then good to go?

For USA Hockey play that would be a "modified" helmet and you shouldn't be permitted to play with it.

well im just saying if some folks have a big problem with the clear plastic pieces and how they look, then maybe they'll risk it

If anyone feels that way, they need to be a little less concerned with fashion. It's there for a little extra protection, removing them for aesthetics would just be moronic.

I thought the retail white one looked better than the ones I've seen in the nhl. The logo was crome and the clear plastic looked good to me. The medium fit me perfect. I may have to purchase one. I just wish that new CCM/Hefter helmet was out so that I could compare them.

i agree, i was just putting out a possible solution for someone who thinks the retail model is so ugly because of the plastic pieces

I never thought it was ugly. It's just that I am so accustomed to seeing the intakes in the nhl without that little plastic piece that it just looks weird with it on. I didn't know the plastic pieces were there for extra protection.

I can't stand itech cages. On my mission carbster, i use a bauer tru-vision.

So the Bauer 8000 Tru-Vision cage should work with this one? I'm trying to decide if that is the best option or just go with that insanely expensive Itech RBE VIII that will never rust (supposedly). Any thoughts on those?

Thanks,

Jeff

Tried it on today. Feels very nice. Comfort pads are nicest of all the EPP helmets IMO.

A large is still a tad narrow for my fat head though.

I saw some at a retail store today in Saskatchewan, Canada. They hadn't put them on the store shelfs yet. Mostly all black - $129.99 plus taxes. Very cool looking.

It looks like this helmet may be a hit with the kids. You may want to contact Mission and try to grab your share of that market.

give me a break chadd, you think anyone is serious enough to look at screws? I have no earpieces in my helmet, along with other different screws than bauer ones because I lost mine, is that modified?

For youth hockey, you couldn't play without the ear flaps. I don't know what rules you play under as I don't ref college games. As a ref, I don't have to like the rules, just enforce them.

Some referees choose to not call them though. I went almost 3/4 of last season with my helmet spraypainted black, and never got anything said to me from referees, through the chipping and all. By the end of the season, my helmet looked like a cow.
