Technically, without the sticker you can't use them in USAH or HC sanctioned game play.

i don't really see the big deal

if everyone knows your helmet is certified, why would it matter if you have the sticker or not (other than the fact that it could expire in maybe like another 4, 5 years)? that being said I always remove them just because i hate them

As a referee, I couldn't care less, because I know what's certified and what's not, and as a player I don't have the sticker.

all refs will not care one of my teammates who kept his stickers on, his helmet certification expired in like 1999

DONT TAKE THEM OFF !!!

I got kicked out of a game for not having the stickers on my helmet before. maybe it was just the ref but i wouldnt even take the chance.and if you do get in trouble, you cant just buy new stickers, only a new helmet.

As long as you are just playing bush league or something like that, why not? I took all the stickers off my 1052 and my 8k, I have never heard anything about it. Wouldn't most refs know it's a certified helmet anyway?

Most refs don't care about the stickers.

I just put my own sticker over it. I put a Source Canadian flag sticker over the back of my helmet. (the Source is a big snowboard shop in Calgary) After I did it I wondered if I'm supposed to put any stickers on my helmet but nobody in my beer league has said a word. I'm sure if there is a lenient league out there it's a beer league.

There is no mention in the USA Hockey rulebook about the stickers. It only states that the helmet must be HECC certified for all players under adult.

I always take them off....I just took them off of my Intake yesterday and my thumbs are raw from "smudging" the residue off....the HECC one always rips....I hate that.

try heating up the stickers, it makes the glue moist and easier to take off

I've never taken off the stickers, just didn't care enough for it

I try ripping them off but I usually get too lazy to finish the job. A ref asked me "what's happened to your stickers?" and i told him my dog started scratching my helmet.

On my Bauer 5000 I just took off the stickers and stuck them on the inside underneath the padding incase any ref ever called me on it. You'd have to be an idiot not to know that all of the major brands are certified though. It's not like there is a huge market for knock offs when it comes to hockey equipment.
