Anyway, i'm not going to tell you the price, and i hope others dont either. You are getting a good deal it sounds like anyway.

Actually people finding out how much stuff costs wouldnt be that bad actually, its about time peope see how LITTLE stores make off of skate sales.

True,

Even better, let's let the "average Joe" know how much it cosat to operate a store. They NEVER, ever, consider that when trying to determine what we pay for an item. Let's just start with loan interest. 8.5% is the going rate these day. Money doesn't grow on trees we have to borrow it in order to buy the equipment. So that $100 we may pay wholesale for a stick, really costs us $108.50 in the long run. Then rent, electric, gas, telephone, advertising, etc, etc, etc, etc. You HAVE to consider those expenses in the real cost of an item. Yup, real cheap to run a hockey store. Jeeze, I wish some folks would just take a few business courses.

our team gets RBK stuff at wholesale + 10% so i was trying to find out how much the skates would be for me

Can't you ask your equipment manager or whoever buys your team's equipment?

guys settle down. don't you think your being a little harsh on him? even if someone knew the wholesale price of a piece of equipment, it wouldn't mean they could ever get a shop to sell it for that. if anything people would appreciate it more if they knew that there isn't much of a mark up.

alot of people look up the wholesale price of a car before going new car shopping...

is finding out the wholesale price of hockey equipment any different?

Yes, for the reason I stated before...not everyone pays the same...if you do higher volume you will get a bigger discount, and could afford to sell for lower if there is not a MAP.

I know wholesale prices and agree with Jimmy. Unless you work in one or own one no one has a clue how much it costs. Our store has problems blowing out skates from previous years because we can't loose that much money like the larger retail stores ie: Epuck, great skate, hockey monkey ect. Mew, Sorry that your LHS has problems getting things back to you. If your holders were mismounted why did you buy them? It's not a sin to buy things online, it's bad to use a hockey shop for fitting and then say "I'll be back later." If the skates were not mounted correctly it's CCM's fault. All I can tell you is that it costs in the area of $20-30 if that for a company to make an OPS. What they sell it to a retailer for is quite a bit more than that.

Really...and how do you know that?

Manufactoring cost for a Easton OPS in Mexico was 12-15dollers according to various reps around here. But that was before Gas and composite prices soared, but then alot of the OPS are made in China now so.... 15-20$'s maybe now. 20 being absolut maximum.

And yes I'm guessing.

Don't forget, manufacturer cost are not just what it cost in materials to make something. They also have to pay for marketing, catalogs, advertising, shipping, endorsements, NHL fees, and a way lot more.

I remember back when I was a kid, this restaurant I went to had a thing on the back of the menu, explaining why a grilled cheese cost $3.
