Sprung Hockey

Love all the info in this thread - keep up the good work, Sprungster.

I was looking to maybe get the Torpso/Sprung package deal here, http://www.sprung-inline.com/shop.htm, but I've seen conflicting information for how Torpso's fit. Some say they fit like Bauers, some say normal shoe size, and then some say it's based off Kor's mold which would be somewhere between the two.

I've been wearing 10.5D in RBK 6K for roller and 11.0D in Kor Shift 1's (though they're a little tight) for ice. What would you all recommend for Torpso 221's for them to fit similar to a 10.5D RBK? Thanks!

I have a pair of Shift 1's, and I also bought the Torspo package off of Keith. Both of which were 9.5 and worked well for me. For reference, I am 10.5 in Nike and my RBK 7K's are 8.5E.

So, it sounds like an 11.5D would work here for me.

might have been discussed but I can't seem to find it - what's the difference between A6 & A8?

A6 = all 76mm

A8 = all 80mm (only comes in large size)

cool - thanks for clarification!

Is there any way to easily tell the 'old' version models from the new ones? After reading the site seems like something gotwidened etc, but the differences are quite subtle - is there a model # written somewhere or something?

Also do holes align with any of the ice holders - TUUK or RBII (in not that it'd be something I'd wish from the next version)

I believe you have to make new holes regardless. No prob with the structural integrity of the skate, the carbon fibre is pretty solid and holds up well.

The older version has thinner arms, and the new one was beefed up to withstand even heavier loading. I believe that Sprungster has already sold out his older versions, and only has spares for those frames. The newer ones are solid, and you shouldnt have any issues with them.

Keith is currently working on the A7, which is essentially a medium sized frame that would take 80mm wheels. A lot of the guys are waiting for those as well, so get your orders in.

I love seeing Tour/Sprungs. We used to have an entire size range of Tours for our tourney demos. They all went into full time test rotation at Skate San Diego. More than a few players did not buy new skates for two years. They were all dashed by 1,800 skate hours over three years. This was the old frame, too.

And on a different note, here's what making good sturdy weird sports equipment can lead to. You will recognize familiar features that the rest of the world is unaware of, except for the people I'm working with. Each of your A6s and A8s take a much harder beating than a prosthetic foot, or any kind of foot for that matter so this thing will be very very tough and every bit of it moves, a lot like a real foot. "Skates a lot like ice!" will do just fine.

I had to build it in 3D so the patent illustrators would have something to draw from. It's built in Maya, which is a character design/animation program. My bud also does Si-Fi characters, and this fits right in there. We scanned in my rough sketches and built it right on top of them.

This model is blue because it was done especially for Doug Funny's best bud, Skeeter, who recently lost his right foot from digital diabetes.

SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!

Great seeing the frames that I love and support aiding those with prosthetic needs. Glad to see your company diversifying itself into various niche markets.

That's incredible stuff....

Lets just hope that a couple more surgeries don't have you trying this one out. ;)

As always....best of luck with the recovery.

It will be A7 Presale time at the Sprung site tomorrow morning. First come, first served and they will be $100 as a presale. When they join the reg retail market they, along with the A6 and A8, will be slightly more than the present tab. They are costing more to make, and they have to stay as good as they are.

The best scale to go by for boot/frame sizing, is: Sr 6 - 8, A6; 8.5 - 10.5, A7; 11 - 13, A8. To make it only slightly more/less confusing, I am using current Bauer sizing as to boot length vs boot size. As usual, the crossover sizes of 8 - 8.5, and 10.5 - 11 are skater preference. There are Bauer 10's out there with A7's by demand, and ditto 9's and even CCM 8.5's out there with A8's and glad of it. But then, the A7 wasn't available. ;)

Thanks Spree....

As luck would have it, I just received word about 45 minutes ago that I will need yet ANOTHER GODDAMN SURGERY on my left foot.

My implant is failing, either due to it being too small or it coming loose. So he needs to go in and check it out and make the necessary adjustments. Keith's Sprung foot isn't looking too bad to me right now....I'm so tired of this crap.

Ouch, Ouch, Ouch. My toes are curled under just thinking of bad stuff going on down there. Troublesome upper extremities suck, but your can get around. And tape the stick to your glove, or not turn your head cause it doesn't do that right now. Get better and get playing. Can I use your skates while you're down? ;)

The A7 presale is up and going on the site. Late October shipping. We will have some Torspo deals coming up tonight, including an A7/Torspo special. The boots are pretty limited and we'll list the available sizes. All Torspos will include spacers, but no wheels or bearings.

I know what sprungs are and all, but why would i want sprungs over any other top of line chassis, besides the looks ofcourse.

they do something no other frame dose. They flex and "load" and mimic the feel you get on the ice if your a ice hockey player. Also the great CS that people have received on here. If im correct they also give you some sort of "response" when you push off.

If you know what sprungs are and all, you know the answer to your own question.

I've got an exact answer for you, but give me a minute - I'm trying to cut and paste 154 pages of discussion thread with 2321 posts in which there is not one single negative comment about the product. Not even the Pope gets reviews like that.

There have been some negative comments, but very few like 5% or less.

Overall the chassis allows you to take tighter turns, stop harder AND faster. Plus if you come from an Ice background then you can retain your stride and its benefits. For me it offers all of the above. Its one of the best pound for pound products out there.

100% sprung convert... never on rigid chassis anymore.

Thank you Mr. Wabbit, and the rest of youse, too. And thanks to hockeydude1150, who knows a goodlooking chassis, when he sees one, even if he hasn't had the chance to meet it yet. Looks ain't everything, but then neither is oxygen. Looks and carbon base super-intelligence, that's us. ;)
