Mission Intake Helmet

Recommended Posts

Now that the Mission Intake helmet has been out for a little while now, is there anyone out there that has tried it and do you have any feedback on it?

I am currently using a Bauer 4000 and I have always worn Bauer/Cooper helmets.

Thanks.

This helmet is the best one ever made. The fit and comfort are great, but the coolest part to me is when you are skating it feels like you dont have anything covering your forehead because of all the air that gets in through the vents. Sweet helmet.

I've been wearing it for the last 4 months now and previously used a 4000. Here's what I noticed:

Pros:

-More ventilation as there are more vent holes in the intake compared to the 4000.

-The fit of this helmet is shallower. It sits slightly higher on your head than the 4000 although it's barely noticable.

-the headlock feature is good as it makes sure your helmet doesn't shift around while you're playing so your helmet stays in place.

Cons:

-The blue printing on the gel packs inside the helmet rub off so you'll have a blue forehead for a little while. No big deal.

Note: I went from a Medium hh4000 to a small Intake. Mission runs their sizes a tad different.

I don't think that problem is wide sopread. I know a guy that bought his the week they were in stores, and the blue ink has never rubbed off.

I have been wearing the Intake for about a month. I am very happy with the helmet. The rink I play in during the summer is a sweat box. This helmet has kept me cooler than my CCM HT2 that I used before. I get a great fit. I have a Bauer 8000 wire cage with no problems mounting to fit. Just be sure to check your screws as they do loosen up easily on the helmet. My helmet snap disappeared once but it had fallen out in the bag. I double check all the screws, especially the snaps when packing the bag. Get the lid, you'll love it.

Perfect, Thanks....

Anybody there wears the RBK lid, can you comment on the air flow? Does the venting of the 8K Helmet mimic the Intake.

I tried on the Intake, kinda looks weird on my head. Kind of sticks up, if that makes any sence. <_<

I have an 8k and I think the airflow on my 690 is just as good, maybe even better.

Went from a medium Itech HC100 to a medium Intake. Fits almost identical. Intake weighs more than the HC100 though.

i guess i'll be the only one here who would recommend the bauer 8000 helmet but i've tried the rbk 8k and it just felt like a toy. The air flow on the 8000 is the best i've had but i've never tried the 8k or intake during a game. can't loose with any 3 of those helmets. oh one big difference you should keep in mind when upgrading to these new helmets is that your sweat drip and run down on your face a lot more... i don't know if anyone else has notice this but the new padding on these helmets are waterproof or something and won't absorb your sweat. It took a few games to figure out why i seem to be sweating a lot more even though there was more air flow in the helmet.

Luckily i've never had that problem before.

I still say Intakes are fugly. I'm an NBH 4500 man.

Are the NBH helmets deep?

I'm using a CCM892 but I want something a little deeper if I can get it.

I tried on the RBK today at the Royals equipment sale, and it was so shallow, I thought I was wearing a yamulke.

Any feedback on deep fit helmets?

I'm pretty sure the thread got lost in the server issues, but a member who had found his 8k to be too shallow switched to a NBH 4500 and it was just what the doctor ordered in his case. 5500 has decent depth as well, whereas the 8500 is a bit shallower. Best bet would be to try them on.

I found the intake to feel extremely shallow. The 8K felt deeper but may have been because of how the width adjustment made it snugger.

Or just get any helmet with VN instead of EPP.

Yeah, I know... broken record. :)

Shallow/Deep fitting helmet <--- Must be the reason I have fitting (visor) isues with most helmets, they simply sit too high on my head.

Bauer 4000 with Itech Pro Wave = Perfect fit for me.

Really like the 8k helmet fit wise, but haven't tried a visor on it. Itech HC100 and Misson Intake made my visor sit to high, so I had bad protection and vision, since the buttom of my visors (Oakley Modified Aviator and Itech Pro Wave) would be just around nose-height.

With the Bauer/Itech combo I don't notice to buttom of my visor at all, and the insect-like indent at the nose prevents fogging.

Yeah I'd say it's deep, although obviously you'd have to try it on to see for yourself. But I switched from a CCM HT500 which I felt was a beanie to this and it feels and looks legit.
