I am picking up a pair of S500's this week. Looking forward to trying them oot.

I'm leaning towards the S500 if the fit is right (I have a wide thick foot throughout, with a rather flat arch). I did get the opportunity to see both the Bauer 8090 and the Graf G5. The Graf I picked up looked pretty good, which makes me wonder if they corrected what some perceived as sloppy craftsmanship with the first ones of the line.

Hmmm, don't know, but I'll find out. I will say the G5 was the most expensive skate at $439 (US). Really can't say whether they're worth that much more than the 705?

Exactly, Graf will have a real hard time convincing me to change from their regular 705s.

Actually tried on a pair this morning. Not quite my size I think , but they felt amazing. Incredibly lightweight. I am very excited and will hopefully be scoring a pair in the next week or two.

I don't anticipate changing from my S500s for a long time. The only other skate that held any interest for me was the 8090.

Does anyone know how much the synergy skates are going to cost? I know before people said $1000, but was that exaggerated?

S300s fit me the best but I'll probably end up buying S400's, if not S500's

i alreayd got the 8090's, but i was extremely interrested in the s500's, i just couldn't find them in my area and i needed new skates badly, not to say that the 8090's aren't a terrific skate

I would have voted for the CCM Pro Tacks but I those now. Honestly, they are the best skates I've ever had the pleasure of using. I recommend them to anyone who is looking for a great pair of pro level skates without the flashy looks of the new skates on the market these days. I've always been a fan of the Tacks line and the '03/'04 Pro Tacks are by far the best yet. I have skated in the new Vector Pros and they are amazing too. I used to use a pair of Mission Pure Flys and if the S500's are an improvement on that model, then they should be unreal (haven't had the chance to try them yet). Anyways, I just felt bad for the Pro Tacks not having any votes...they deserve better!

Tacks are great esp. if you have a wide foot like me. However I find that Mission has all the bases covered fit-wise, I'm using 552 Tacks now and the tongue too forever to break in, unlike Mission's 2 peice tongue, which felt great the moment I put the skates on.

I never had any break-in issues with the Pro Tacks. They felt great straight out-of-the-box. I think my feet were made to be in CCM's.
