Chadd 916 Report post Posted October 15, 2006 Getting out first look at the fluffy stuff here in WNY. It'll probably be back around 75-80 degrees tomorrow, though.Anywhere else hit already? Got stuck in Rochester for three hours the other day and just as we were getting ready to leave it started snowing. I'm glad we got out of the area when we did. LkptTiger 1 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 Radio: Not too much (by our standards). The areas in/around the city got "brushed," though I hear the Southtowns and Southern Tier got blasted pretty good. I live to the north a bit, so there hasn't been too much to speak of - just enough to cover the ground. Forecast is calling for snow the rest of the week. Cavs: When we got hit by that big snow/ice/wind storm last year, the areas surrounding both campuses were in a "State of Emergency" for five or six days; the university canceled classes for one. If it were a smaller school, I MIGHT have understood. UB, though, has something like 35,000 undergraduate students (with another 10,000 or so grad students); thousands upon thousands of whom live off campus. With conditions being what they were, I can't believe the school was forcing people to get in their cars and navigate through the snow, ice and fallen trees to get to/from class. Rustpot 1 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 We got a few inches last night, but Michigan's UP has the best plowmen in the country and the roads never got bad. In the last 40 years of bad winters, we've had school canceled once, it was last year when we got over a foot dumped overnight, and it was falling with mixed ice, -10F temps and winds that were taking out trees. bdj 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 I've never had a snow day in Winnipeg, and i've seen it dump a good foot and a bit overnight. I walked to school in -50 weather with the wind chill before.
Petey21 1 Report post Posted November 7, 2007 Had an inch or so on Saturday, it didn't even cover the grass, and it had melted away by Monday. That always happens at this time of the year and then we get quite alot of it later on that stays until April...
Michael9 57 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 :D NO SCHOOL TODAY!!!! Snowing like crazy here, Last night there wasn't an inch on the ground and this morning I woke up to see about 2 feet. The snow is still coming down like crazy. It's starting to remind me of the horrible ice-storm from 1998. Hopefully it doesn't get to that point.
GoHawks 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Here in Iowa City we got maybe an inch and a half of snow, followed by mix/freezing rain overnight last weekend. My car had about 3/4" of ice over all the windows saturday night when I headed over to a friends. Roads are fine, were kinda crappy saturday, but our parking lot has a sheet of ice over it. So tempted to take a stick and puck down there and work on some stickhandling

D3nZ 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 We have more snow right now in Edmundston that we had last year in february. We have had about 3-4 foot of snow and there is a storm comming tonight. Even Harper was supposed to be here today and cancelled because of the storm (apparently he might have announced the funding for a brand new arena).

Rustpot 1 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 Nah, I'm going to school in Houghton, we have close to 2 feet of glorious powder. The city is going to pay, I was in a parking spot downtown opposite the end they were dumping on. Honest accident, but lots of legwork for me.I'm staying out of the courts if I can, but if they stick me they're going to get lots of wrath. Wasted tuition after getting poor exam grades, anguish from having to fix the car, mental anguish from driving my $40,000 car around with a tarp and rope, traveling cost to get appraisals, damage to seats from broken glass, cost of a rental in case it's not back to me in time, yada yada. Lufria 1 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 i'm sueing a guy right now that rear ended me last week and totaled my car. Claims it was the weather conditions, but there wasn't even any snow on the ground at the time. So i'm in the same boat that you're in.
