kosydar 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Figure I'll bump this. For my buddy's 21st his parents are flying us down there for four nights. We're leaving this Thursday. I've only been to Vegas once, and I was eight and thought Circus Circus was the greatest. Anyone have any suggestions for two 21 year old college students? We're staying at the Wynn, which from what I've heard is really nice. Other than that I don't think we have anything to do. His step dad seems eager to go all out for this trip (nice hotel, nice dinner reservations, private jet), but after that I think we might need to find some more "college" things to do. I know the Aladdin has a huge mall inside of it as do a few others. But if you're looking to do some serious gambling, head downtown. I can't say much for the club scene though. Some of them were droppin $4-500 US a night to go out to a club. If thats your cup of tea, i can find out the names of the clubs they went to, supposedly they're off the hook
Chadd 916 Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Aladdin is now the planet hollywood isn't it? Wynn is a little on the pricey side for me so I can't help you on that one. Shows can get a little expensive but there are a couple places on the strip that offer tickets at half price. I can't really help you with the clubbing side of things.Freebies:The Sirens show at TI was ok last year, it gets crowded and might be a decent place to pick up. The fountains at the Bellagio are worth a look, I think they go every 15 minutes after 8PM and attract decent crowds.Stratosphere has a couple rides at the top if you're into that kind of thing. I heard Lebron couldn't even get into a club because he wasn't dressed up enough.Personally, I'd suggest that you stay at NY, NY or the MGM Grand. The Wynn is really nice, don't get me wrong, but as a couple of 21 year olds.... there's a younger crowd towards that end of the strip.Oh, but be sure to hit up the Wynn's buffet, it's excellent. If it was up to us we'd be at a Motel 6. I doubt we'll spend too much time at our hotel, except probably the pool in the afternoon to sober up. Thanks for the heads up on dressing nice though, definitely didn't think about that. Its going to be brutal, supposedly it'll be over 100 every day we're there. Chadd 916 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 100+ in vegas isn't that bad until it hits 110 or so. Take a couple Dri-fit polo shirts and you'll be fine during the day. I would suggest picking up a case of bottled water for the hotel. It helps recover from the booze and the dry desert air will suck the water out of you. krisrt4tin 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 It's been a while since I've been to Vegas, but what I remember most is M&M World. Free candy and great film about Red and Yellow. My friends and I were too poor to gamble so we did just about everything you could do that was free. Oh yeah and find nickel slots between the bar and high rollers table. The waitress will almost always stop and ask if you need any drinks. Free drinks and cheap gambling...I need another vacation! LegoDoom 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 You're worried about the heat? Seriously, I don't know if I've seen the light of day in Vegas except for when going back to the room late in the morning. If you need to cool off, just walk by the lake at the bellagio when they're doing the water show.
chk hrd 164 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 If you are staying at the Wynn you are about at the center of the strip which is always good. Go across the street to the Tangerine Bar at the T.I.. Most of the casinos have stuff aimed at the younger crowd. Hard Rock is always good and so is The Palms. If you want to experiemce the nightclub there are top notch ones in every hotel, just dress nice or they won't let you in. There are alot of wicked pool parties that the hotels have and if you want to visit strip clubs, we got alot of the best one you can find. Not sure when you are coming but if the weather is nice it will be about 105-110. Right now it's been raining so it is about 100 with 40-50% humidity (which is alot for us. hockeysew 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 Vegas- Remember-what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.Until you go to the Dr. for an unusual "Rash" down there :o If you are thinking of enjoying some of the local "Talent" be very careful-prostitution is illegal in Clark county.(Las Vegas proper)Stay out of North Las Vegas and Eastern Vegas. Some of the spookiest parts of Vegas as far as criminal activity. These are the neighborhoods you see on Cops. Meth haven.Vegas has the potential to be a meat grinder if you are not careful.Keep your cash in your front pocket and wrap a couple of rubber bands around your wallet(Makes it harder to slide out of your pocket). Not trying to pee on your party, but you do need to stay aware of your surroundings and keep yourself safe Now for the fun stuff.Shows at the Riviera were a blast and fairly cheap-$11.00Gambling wise the most fun we ever had was on a Sunday afternoon on Fremont St. (The old strip) at Binions Horseshoe on the nickle machines. Spent $20.00 and had a kick all afternoon with free beer. Walked out hammered and $75.00 richer. You do need to go to the old strip in the evening and check out the light show on Fremont. Definitely cool.Yard long Margeritas! We went to the Bellagio one night and hung out. The Mrs. had to use the restroom so I was playing a machine not too far from the womens restroom.Oh My God the absolutely gorgeous women that were there! Schwing!Great place to drop a few quarters and watch the babes :D Same goes for any of the pools at the larger hotels.Yard long Margeritas.Go check out the Hard Rock Hotel. Nice sights and who knows who you run into.Club Rah at the Luxor is a decent club but pricey.(Might not even be there now-that was a few years ago)Did I mention the yard long Margeritas?Only gamble what you are willing to lose. Leave the ATM alone.
LegoDoom 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 I will 2nd (or is it 4th, now?) yard long margaritas. Go to the cantina at Caesar's and order a 50 oz. margarita with a double shot of 1800 on the rocks. That should cool you down as you walk around in the heat.
mrusse01 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 Go to the Bellagio Sports Book. I don't know if you are sports fans at all (assuming you are) but sports books are easily my favourite spot to stay, and the Bellagio is the best. Throw down $50 on a few ball games, sit back and let the free drinks flow. Waitresses there are awesome, make sure to tip em a buck or two every time and they will bring them as fast as you can drink em pretty much. Hell, if you are gonna be a while toss one of them a $5 for the first drink and chat em up a bit and you'll get great service. That is key though, they will freeze you out pretty bad if you act like an ass or don't tip them. It is by FAR the best place to get drunk for free, most of my buddies weren't even gambling. And what is more fun, sitting down in giant leather chairs watching sports on massive screens getting free drinks, or sitting on a stupid stool playing 5 cent slots and getting free drinks? Bellagio also serves some of the best drinks on the stip, basically anything you want for free. Grey Goose, Ketel One, Patron, all kinds of beer, etc. The club on the top of the Rio is pretty awesome to see, amazing views. I found the club scene there to be just ok; first of all it seems like they are sort of small, almost like the casino wants to take as little space away as possible from the gaming areas. Secondly they are stupid expensive and it is kind tough to pick up when there are people there getting bottle service and just blowing cash like crazy, plus you never know which chicks are working or not. In any case it's not like your typical college town club scene, from my experience anyways. On the plus side all the places are set up pretty awesome, and there are loads of hot broads around that you can at least try and hit on. Bar none the Palms has the hottest and youngest female crowd, but maybe it was just me, but I got the feeling most girls were either pros, or just looking for some rich guy to spend money on them. For shopping I prefer the big mall with the spaceship on the top right across from Wynn I believe, Mall of America or something, as opposed to the shops in the casinos. There are also some decent discount stores/outlets outside the city that are supposed to be pretty good, but I haven't visted them personally. Finally, do not, I repeat do NOT go to Coyote Ugly, it is the worst bar/club I've ever been to. Unless you want to stand with about 200 guys doing nothing while all the girls are on some dumb stage dancing, I would highly suggest you steer clear. chk hrd 164 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 It's Fremont Street, not Fairmont. It's a dive compared to the strip casinos and clubs. The space ship mall is the Fashion Show. It's across the street from the Wynn. The Forum Shops in Caesars is pretty neat to go in because of the design (but a little pricey)If you want to venture farther off the strip than The Palms or The Rio go to Red Rock Station.Yes it is true What happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas. But remember, Vegas cops don't play around, so if something does happen be nice and do what they say.
