David Perron

Recommended Posts

haha just saw him on RDS during the East practice and they got him to meet Kovalev for the first time on camera...they both looked pretty uncomfortable but you could see that Perron was excited as hell. I usually don't care about the all-star games but this one seems to be way different. Great job so far by the Habs and the city of Montreal!

I'm pretty sure Pascal is there for all of this. It will be interesting to hear his thought as a 'fan' who also has some special insight/access to things.

lifted from a recent article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch by Blues beat writer Jeremy Rutherford

Blues vet Keith Tkachuk commenting on having so many young teammates

“Before reclining into his seat and getting comfortable on the Blues’ charter flights, veteran center Keith Tkachuk looks around the plane at his baby-faced teammates and shakes his head. Young Blues players are already locked into their favorite video game, a war game called ‘S.O.C.O.M. 2,’ on their handheld PSP devices.”

“It’s one of those things I’m not very fond of, seeing guys playing PSP,” Tkachuk said. “I know the (NHL) has changed so much, but I see these guys playing PSP, it’s the same games that my kids have. I remember the days where guys played cards the whole flight and had a beer. Now it's all protein shakes and PSP games. I'm glad I got an opportunity to play in a different era and now play in this era. It's interesting to see the difference ”

When I wrote that YOUNGER Blues were playing S.O.C.O.M. 2, I was referring to David Perron and T.J. Oshie. But when I went to practice Monday, I was reminded that Jay McKee, Chris Mason and Dan Hinote are three of the biggest video-game junkies on the team.

“The older guys are the better players,” McKee griped

While admittedly I don't follow the Blues much other then to see how Perron is doing, I took it more as Tkachuk being the old dude he is, the Blues having like a zillion injuries, and Having a very very young team. Tkachuk not really feeling like he has anything in common with the young guys. Not really as a slight, but when the guys used to play cards everyone was included, where as now only the younger guys understand or even have the skill to play psp games, I wouldn't look too much into it, more of a guy in the twilight of his career not being able to relate to guys in the beginning of theirs. When Shanahan came over to the Rangers he had problems relating to his new younger teammates as well.

i don't think this should be that big of a deal - and maybe it isn't. i saw a clip of alot of penguins playing against each other on psp's as well - its partially a team building thing and also to make the many hours they spend on planes go by quicker. would he prefer they read books?

I don't think Tkachuk was saying anything malicious at all, just making an observation. As cam said, there are a group of penguin players playing socom on their flights, whilst others make their own entertainment, there are just more options these days, and i'm sure it's the same on each and every team. I'm glad he gave an interesting answer as I like the insight into what happens off the ice too, but I think it's possibly taken the wrong way.

At a recent Blues Buzz broadcast out at Johnny Mac’s a little boy approach David Perron about how he wanted to meet B.J. Crombeen because he shares the same type of diabetes as the Blues gritty forward. Perron got his cell phone number and told the boy he would call him. A few nights later the kid’s father couldn’t believe it when the phone rang and it was Perron on the other end inviting the boy to the game vs. Colorado. Afterwards Perron brought the boy and his father down to the dressing room where he met Crombeen and left with a bag full of autographed goodies.

on Tkachuk, there's a running joke here in STL about him being the team "Grandpa" and that's he old and out of touch so that story was just more joking on his part.

The running theme this season is about the young players on the team and how they're stepping up. Players like David, Patrik Berglund, David Backes and TJ Oshie are really coming together. Then add, Erik Johnson, Brad Boyes and guys in the pipeline like Lars Eller, Petro, Sonne, Palushaj, Cole and the future looks very bright.

David has become a leader among the young players.

The story previously posted about the little boy with diabetes and what David did to help the kid is just another great example of what a great young man David is and how's he's not only excelling on the ice but doing things off the ice. We've proud of you David!

Didn't see it but I am sure it is the case. I mean, if you have an arsenal of moves, you tend to overthink. He needs to work on getting a few moves down and sticking with it. Seems to work for the guys who are successful in SOs.

looked like he got in too close and then was pretty much screwed/maybe mishandled it a little bit as well..

wings were lucky to escape with two points considering how much they were outplayed.

absolutely beautiful goal by David tonight. Took a pass in the high slot, went right, ripped a quick wrist shot over Budaj's shoulder. Also had a helper on Oshie's goal in the 2nd period.
