Your First NHL Game in Person

Recommended Posts

I was supposed to go out to the TO/Florida game tonight, but I couldn't get airline tickets for less than $1200-1500 a piece. After just watching the game on TV, seems like there might be a better game for me to attend.

Still remember my first, and I've kept every ticket stub from every NHL game I've been to, for some odd reason :P

January 3, 1996. Edmonton vs. Florida, it was friggen cold that day, went with my Uncle and Dad. Oilers lost 3-2 in OT, Fred Braithwaite was in goal. That was when the Oilers sucked, haha. Those seats were 40 bucks a pop when we got them in 1996, now they're over 150 per seat, it's totally unobtainable for your average joe nowadays. We had season tickets for a few years, but just couldn't afford them anymore. Here's a pic of all my stubs, probably been to about 120 games, and they're still just as exciting as my first.

Yup, and I got to watch the slaughtering live instead. Thanks, dick. :P

I have too VERY early memories at a Leafs game. One against Jersey and one against Buffalo. Both are so long ago I can't remember which one was the first game. The first game where I rememberwhat happened was a 7-1 or 7-2 killing or Toronto over Winnipeg. Rob Pearson and Wendel Clark each scored twice, Pearson was using a Titan that I bought on the way down to the game :)

I was still in pre-school when my dad took me to see the Devils when they came to town to play in the old Aud.

God, I really miss that place. I was still pretty young when the Sabres moved into Marine Midland Arena (now HSBC), so I don't remember a lot about the Auditorium, but I do remember that I loved every second of being there. The seating was so steep and close to the ice it was actually kinda scary. It was a very intimate experience - 16,000 people were almost directly on top of the ice. It was really pretty sweet.

First game wouldve been in like '01. It was an Avs vs. Sharks game. Didnt really know to much about the game then nor do I remember to much of it. I've been to two games this year though. Avs vs Hawks then Blues vs. Avs.

Patrick Roy, Eric Desjardins, John Leclair, hmm who else did they have that Ron Corey kicked out of town, thanks to Mario Tremblay.

How about the nobody's that got rings that year...Ed Ronan, Paul DiPietro, Stephan Lebeau, Gilbert Dionne, Todd Ewen...did ANY of those guys do anything after that year?

First game was the Domi vs. Probert fight at The Garden. Sadly, I don't really remember the actual fight. I just remember a lot of people on the ice after the fight was over and the crowd going nuts. Gresch and Carol Alt were sitting in front of us and we were dying to get his autograph but my old man wouldn't let us ask him.

First game was way back when the Nordiques were still in Quebec, I think they were playing against Buffalo or maybe the Isles, it was a good 15 years ago so I'm not sure about the visiting team.

It was just a few weeks ago when the Rangers hosted the Panthers at MSG as I was in NYC for a short period. OMG! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, it was my pilgrimidge completed and I could not have been a happier lad the buzz lasted from it a few days. I still have my official Jagr jersey from the MSG shop, plus all the cheasy crap I bought. All in all it was a night that cost me almost 500 Aussie bucks but was worth it by miles. :D

"Our wedding day will come 2nd to this"

- My response when asked by my GF if the game was as awesome as I'd anticipated

my first game was rangers at bruins, i went to see gretzky before he retired and i was so excited and we got to the game and we was out with the flu or something lame like that. and the bruins lost 5-3 i think, so my team lost and my favorite player didnt play. i think my second game was the bruins-caps game with like 250 pims though, awesome game with the dafoe and kolzig fight.

First NHL game was back around 1990 or so, North Stars versus the Flames. All I remember is the stars lost and a little bit of walking around the Met center.

First NHL game I remember was late 2005, Wild versus Buffalo. Buffalo won because Roloson started (who sucked terribly last year with the Wild).

I remember going to a lot of my uncle's games as a kid...my grandma with her cowbell, the mini donuts, running up and down the aisles trying to find pucks. Also remember watching him try out for the North Stars...but he didn't make it.

My first NHL game is yet to come, I'd love to go see one in person at least once in my lifetime.

Maybe I'll have to start a fundraiser for that to happen?

My first game was a flames game. I don't remember it to well but I recently saw Montreal play Edmonton. Edmonton beat Montreal. I am a Canadians fan so with a 3-1 first period lead I thought it was all over. I also remember how fast the game was. And a Canadians fan got punched out. Good times had by all.
