New Ovechkin SE Vector 10s

Recommended Posts

Impressions:

I must say it is different than the regular Vector 10. I was lucky enough to get a pair yesterday. First off...they are a little lighter....but not by much. There are three key differences:

1. They are noticably stiffer than the original, especially around the ankles. This however does not affect the comfort. The padding inside the skate is great.

2. No more metal meshed quarter panels like the Vector pros and the original 10s.

3. Yellow waxed laces...for the Euro look lover in you!

I always liked the comfort of the 10s, but this skate takes the cake. It will be interesting to see if RBK releases the white version of the 9K, because I can tell you that everyone that has received this skate (received at the premier store in NY two days ago) has sold out in two days.

I would have provided a pic, but I can not seem to attach a file, so if anyone wishes to see them, please let me know where I can put it for all to see.

Patrick67 - thanks for the link. Here is a link to the pic:

To answer questions:

Yes - the SE V10 fits pretty much the same as the original V10. The toe box may be a tad wider, but the rest of the boot feels the same.

What did they replace the mesh with? If you look at the pic and know the old V10, the material looks like the material that is beneath the squared mesh. It feels like a very tough durable EPP. It is VERY tough. This skate looks extermely durable.

As a side note: just skated in them for an hour today, and all I can say is they are a breadth of fresh air. My One90s were baked twice, and I still had extreme pain on the bone in my foot below the ankle. I did not feel any pain whatsoever for the hour. It did not take long at all to get used to the holder, and I will be working with my blade guy to put a -1 pitch 9' rocker on these bad boys.

The rep must not have seen them....because they ARE different. I can tell you that because I had both skates. Now mind you, I have not seen the 2007 version of the regular V10, but the 2006 V10 had the metal texallium mesh. The SE V10 does NOT.

I agree that the quarter panels are cosmetic....but these do feel stiffer.

It is tough to tell if they are lighter...I will give you that argument because I did not have a scale to see if that was true.

Yea, there was probably no way that the rep saw them even though they were sitting on a table right next to him and I had them in my hand at the time of the question. They don't do stuff like that. Anyway, enjoy your new magical skates

Chikin saw them at the MSH skate.

I don't understand the argument. The SEs do not have metal mesh, and the regular ones do. The boot is the same other than that.

Speaking of the Lightspeed, I was thinking of getting a pair of the Royal Blue LS holders from totalhockey and mounting those on the boot.
