Langenbrunner15 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 What do you guys reccomnd to control the pimple out breaks that I sometimes get. It' annoying as hell waking up one day and seeing your face with pimples. I usally get them either near my eyebrows on my forehead or close to my lips. I tried using pro active, but that didn't really help that much. I've been using daily cleansing pads by Oxy, but was wondering if theres something better out there whether it be a home remedy or store bought.

Langenbrunner15 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 Clean your helmet.Just a question, but what would the helmet have to do with my face? It's on my head and not on my face. When cleaning, would a when napkin and soap be good enough?Thockey17- I take a shower every morning, and every night I wash my face, is warm, hot, or cold water best? M-Cohen 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 Use warm water and soap. Then scrub lightly, then use cold water to close your pores.

Although when i took it it dehydrated me alot.
davezilla 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 dermatologists usually prescribe Accutane as a last resort. They put you through months of lesser and weaker drugs before they decide to give you Accutane.
kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 Accutane is also very dangerous. On the label, it advises you to not have children as it may cause defects. It also has other sideaffects. Definantly a last resort as dave said
davis 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 I used Accutane about 7 years ago. I didn't have a serious problem or anything, went to see the dermtologist and the first thing he recommended was the Accutane. For me there were no other drugs...I just went there, he had a look, and then told me about this Accutane stuff. Worked pretty fast for me, and I didn't experience any of the side effects that this drug can case. I'd definitely recommend a trip to the dermatologist. There are different kinds of acne, and you can't effectively treat it until you know what type you have.
s Greens 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 use proactiveits relatively inexpensive and for the large majority of the population it works. when i had to wear a cage last year in highschool hockey i used to get nasty ones around my chin and proactive worked wonders
precursor 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 I used pro-active in the morning and at night.make sure to wash you pillow case a couple times a week as well. if you sweat or get warm at night, its like sleeping in oil lol.

godiogo 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 I took Accutane and that worked really well for me. Like others have said, it made things worse initially, but I haven't had any problems since I stopped taking it 8 years ago. My brother, however, took it four different times (each time for a few months) and it never resolved his problems. So its effectiveness varies among users. It does have some pretty serious side effects, such as dehydration (I remember carrying chapstick around all the time), and birth defects (if you are a pregnant woman you mustn't take it). Like davis suggested, you should see a dermatologist. Ask your parents too if they had similar problems when they were your age and when did it cease to be a problem. When you sweat, where do you think that sweat goes? You also see a lot of kids who don't clean their chin cups and have acne all over their chin/mouth area. Ask your parents too if they had similar problems when they were your age and when did it cease to be a problem. They also had some issues with depression or something to that extent a few years back - my contention is that some kids with all those hormones coming through just had no clue what they were feeling. Accutane also has the potential to damage your liver. I think that you need to have a few blood tests during at least the first few months to monitor that. Dermatologists were giving it out like candy about 5 years ago, but like others have said, it's use is much more conservative now.
Hidious 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 Get some sunlight. Summer is starting and some kind of rays the sun has (i can't remember which one but i don't think it was UVs) will kill the bad guys and dry sebum on your skin. Pimples aren't very common in hot countries where people have a good tan. I think.

toroytorero 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 I think it depends a lot on your skin and why/what is causing the pimples.. I have or rather had oily skin growning up and my pores would clogg and I'd break out. I didn't find this until I was about 19 or so but it really helpednancy boy scrub It kind of reminds me of Lava soap.. if you've ever worked in a shop you know what I'm talking about.. only this stuff is kinder gentler and aromatic.... you get the idea. I still use it for my back and nose since I tend to get black heads if I don't keep it in check. If you can it wouldn't hurt to see a dermatologist and sun does help.I should add pro-active did not work for me either, nor did a lot of the snake oil crap thats out there.
