What lie are your sticks?

Recommended Posts

I've always used a 5 lie and tried a 6....much too weird to the point that I keep fanning on shots (even more than usual). A lot of PP but I'm curious if taller guys use a higher lie in general.

Usual lie: 5

5'10" 160lbs forward

Drury 5.5

Kovalev 5 (bought this looking for a Drury clone. the lie is definitely not a 5. had to put a longer plug in.)

Ribeiro 5.5

6' 155

Best I've used is a Lidstrom 5.5 lie...could do a 5 or 6 in a pinch (been using a Kovalchuk or Gagne/Jokinen lately), but I like the rocker of the Lidstrom.

Currently back to a 5.5 Coffey curve. I switched to a lie 6 Yzerman, and loved how i could handle the puck closer to my body when playing D, but then I started to realize it was creating bad habits. I wasn't bending my knees as much when I was skating cause I didn't have to, and my skating with the puck got a bit awkward.

I wish Easton still made the curve that was basically a Yzerman but with a 5.5 lie instead of 6 (can't remember the name, gaborik maybe?)

5'10", I use 6 or 7 lie

I am mostly a shooter/crease crashing type player so I like a short stick and often have to handle pucks close to my feet. In barefeet my stick is between my chin and bottom lip.

6'4"

warrior 4 lie. basically a sherwood 5, a little lower than the easton 5. i had trouble at first with loose pucks in my feet around the net, but everything else is a lot better - and i got used to the loose pucks. shooting, puckhandling, pokechecking - im more comfortable with the lower lie. i used to use sakics.

5'8", 170 lbs, forward, stick cut at nose barefeet.

Heatley (5 lie)

Recchi (5 lie)

I can go between 5 and 5.5 lie pretty easily, although I prefer 5. I'm not a great skater, really need to bend my knees more and keep my feet moving. I do keep my top hand up pretty high so I have an easier time stickhandling in close.

6' 200lbs forward. Currently use a Datsyuk, which is a 6 lie. My stick is cut about an inch below my chin on skates.
