I hope this isn't a sign of the season and just a team that is slow out of the blocks.

But I cant help but see the warning signs from this...

"It is the Rangers' smallest goal total through the first eight games since they had only nine in 1950. New York has gone 181 minutes, 9 seconds without scoring an even-strength goal.

The Rangers, returning from a three-game road trip that produced one point, begin a six-game homestand Thursday night against New Jersey."

Are Beers only $10 at MSG? I think its more at Staples unless you get the sippy cup 8 ouncer.

I wasn't awarding the Rangers the cup at all, in fact PRIOR to the season starting I had a long conversation with a friend (Buffalo fan) about how I thought they were going to tank. He didn't agree. I do think they can turn it around to .500 for the season if they can get the power play working but after seeing the way they are being coached right now I don't have a ton of faith. They need to work harder, MUCH harder and Renney has to DEMAND it from them which he's never been one to do.

I've also read all these stories about how they were supposedly much better then PIT last night but for all the theoretical chances they had they not once looked remotely dangerous. They were easily contained and forced to shoot from the outside creating absolutely nothing of difficulty for Fleury. He never had to be better then average to garner the shutout victory. This has continued throughout the season thus far. The only game I think they played well enough to win offensively was the Islanders game. Outside of that, I don't think I've seen one iota of emotion or will to come from behind out of this bunch. That's a far bigger problem then a "slump" I think. I sure hope I'm wrong though... I get super tired of having to be annoyed every time I watch them play. It's like smoking crack and just getting sick instead of getting high.

Guinness is $8.50. And right now, that's the only thing I look forward to when I go to the games, and even those aren't that good because they taste like they clean the lines once a year.

To make matters worse on our wings, Ryan Callahan is now out indefinitely with a knee sprain.

As a Devils fan, I'm trying to take solace in Ottawa's cold start to last season. I can't quite convince myself that things are going to get better...but, given the Rags' roster, you might be able to.

Haven't been around much lately.

Of course, us Ranger fans have reason to be disappointed, but you can draw a lot of positive as well.

How?

Well, Goaltending and defense wins. Right now Lundqvist is in mid season form and the defense as a whole has been impressive. We are tied for 2nd best GA in the East. I much rather be losing 1-0, then 6-5.

The chemistry is obviously not there and Chadd posted some combos that may work a page back. Have to be interested in what happens when Avery comes back. But there is no sugar coating the offense. You have to expect a little better. Even with 3 new centers.

Once again though, the goaltending and defense is there and both have been impressive so far. Once the offense starts the gel, we should be in much better shape.

People say we look like shit- No...If that was the case we would be losing 6-0, 7-0. Nothing further than the truth. The offense is non-existance and no one is clicking, yes. But that does not equate to being terrible and looking like shit because you can only keep these guys off the board for so long. I am thinking game 12-20 you start to see much improvement in the offense.

Sources out of Canada have reported the following:

"the new york rangers have placed thomas pock on waivers. they also report that due to the lack of chemistry with gomez and drury, who are in the rangers long term plans, glen sather has begun dangling jaromir jagr (one year remaining on contract) as a possible trade. it would free up salary and what the rangers could get in return for jagr could help to replenish a dry minor league system and help with the addition of several nhl ready players. One NHL GM we spoke with said, "I am 90% certain that before the trade deadline either Tom Renney will be a free agent and/or Jagr will be wearing a western conference teams jersey."

Not good news, although the guy loses a lot of credit when he says dry minor league system. This is not 2002, and all bias aside, we are probably top 3 to 5 in the league in that regard now (especially if you include Staal and Dubinsky)

I'm with you on this. I don't know how true the Jagr rumors are. I'm sure they're just pure speculation at this point. Just as long as it doesn't turn out to be like the daily Forsberg rumors where everyone and their mother says he's going to be playing for their team this year.

You guys are up there. You were 6th according to Hockey's Future with those two.

Hey Eazy...Hope you're doing well. I wish the Rangers showed some of TO's goal scoring ability and I am sure you wish the Leafs showed the Rangers defensive ability...At least in the early going!

To bad for Ryan Callahan but injuries are part of the game and the season. It is just another chance to see what is in Hartford. I wouldn't throw Jagr out so quickly. How many people live in Canada? Well, everyone of them considers themselves a "source." No disrespect to Easyb or RadioGaGa! Until it happens, I won't hold my breath waiting for Jagr or Renney to go. I agree with Theo that as long as the back end of the team is doing their job, the front end will come around soon enough. Teams that are hot now will cool off once the adrenaline rush is over. I was watching Wild/Flames last night starting with 2nd period, Wild up 3-0. I was impressed with Wild team speed and puck possession early in the period. They looked so dominant. Next thing I know, Calgary gets 1, 2, 3 goals and Minny looks like junk all over the ice. Flames get two early in the third period and game over. My point is what looked so good can quickly go so bad in one period of hockey. Its a marathon, fellas, not a sprint.

I stand by my thoughts that the team offense will come around.

Like I said, it is easy to sit here and be disgusted as NYR fans about the lack of scoring, but the goaltending and defense has been brilliant. And IMO that is more important at this point in time.

Top GA team against Top GF team (In East). Leafs at Rangers, Sat at 7PM. Which team will reign supreme? Stay tuned!

With #68 getting a couple of teeth knocked out last night, the rangers are going to have their Jagr Lantern ready for halloween (my god that was a terrible joke!!!)

No doubt it was a terrible joke......but hey....I still got a chuckle out of it at 9:45 in the morning. Thanks for that!!

:P

Funny stuff.

Oh, and anyone who has been in hiding the past 3 years and still do not think Jagr cares about winning and the Rangers:

I found it very telling what Brendan Shanahan said about the events following the Toronto game. That game ended around 9:30 but he and Jagr stayed in the Rangers dressing room until midnight to talk about the team’s problems. One of the solutions was what you saw on the power play, specifically positioning Shanahan in front. Two power play goals later, it seemed to be a worthwhile conversation.

Did anyone see last night's post game interviews on the Rangers OnDemand site? If you listen to Jagr:

Jagr: (Snickering) Broken skates, broken gloves, broken teeth, broken my arms...

Giannone: But you won! (Laughs)

Jagr: (Laughs) Screw that!

-Reporters stop laughing and it gets quiet for a second-

What in the...who in the...where in the...WHAT!? This is my team's captain? Telling the reporters "Screw that" about winning the game because he lost some teeth! Please tell me I heard him wrong, but I'm pretty sure I didn't. I don't care if he was kidding, because we all know Jagr and know that he wasn't.

I want this joke outta here. Captain my ass.

Damn man. I've been as irritated with this team as anyone but that's harsh. He's obviously bullshitting which is pretty much the norm for him. He played a great game and worked as hard if not harder after his teeth were knocked out. I think this could be a season turner for Jagr and the team and you're severely overreacting.

I know he's trying to be funny, but he's also being serious. It's just the way he is. Supports my feeling that he's a #2 guy, and his leadership should always be checked with someone of a more dynamic personality, like a Lemieux, Messier, Yzerman. I don't know what it's like in the lockerroom, but to me, this is Shanny's team.

I was never much of a Jagr guy. DarkStar knows my pain.

Sometimes NYR fans leave me speechless. If after three years of being here, Jagr has not grown on you and made you somewhat of a believer, I find it sad. Because it shows you cannot let go of the past. The guy has grown into a leader, no question about that. He is not an Yzerman, you are right. But that doesn't mean he is a #2 guy- That is a joke.

That "Screw that" was an obvious joke, and like the media, you missed the last sentence of his interview when he replied with "who cares, we won."

Overall, if Jagr hasn't shown you he cares about winning and the Rangers by now, just wow. Actions speak louder than words, bro. And while the Rangers were hooking up with ladies in bars, sleeping with wives, or sleeping, Jagr and Shanny sat there in the lockers talking about the team at 12AM.

#96,

You might as well pick another team to root for.

The guy is spitting chicklets and goes on to win the game. Yes, that is what hockey players do. If it was your way, Jagr wouldn't have done it but he did. Two years ago in the playoffs when the Rangers are getting their butts wiped by the Devils, he is so pissed off that he tries to throw a check and injures himself. The guy doesn't care about the Rangers? I thought there was no smoking in the Garden but you must be looking through a haze from those balcony blues. The guy has 15 years in the league and all the stats and hardware to back it up. He came back from the lockout to put together an awesome year. Last year he struggled coming off the shoulder injury. He never packed it in though. Yes, he took off the All-Snooze Game to rehab his shoulder some more. Yes, he didn't line up for a shootout when he knew he did not give his team the best chance to win. But he played through it all. Now, he and the rest of the top forwards are off to a shaky start but he knows enough to keep at it. He cares enough to work at it with Shanahan after hours. He is the guy, he is the captain.

The solution is simple. Get together with Smoky and root for the Caps. You will have plenty of company in Jagrhaterland.

Come on now, you know I'm already in Jagrhaterland! And to answer your first statement that I better pick a new team to root for...I won't have to. He's gone after this season.
